  • Robin Williams is one of the most brilliant actors in history. Only he could play this role.

  • is there any people who thinks this way AND have kids?

  • We had a music teacher in the 3-8th grades and hes the most wonderful teacher a student could ever ask for. Why? Because as soon as he began detecting boredom among his students, he would gather the entire class around him and he would begin to tell us fictional horror stories. Every student was mesmerized and gripped by the story telling powers of our music teacher. I never had an instructor quite like him. He knew how to entertain students.

  • 0:34 what does he sat? to ..?...women

  • @deedy95: "woo"

  • i really liked this video i had a teacher kinda like this i think if my son had a teacher like this he would be doing a lot better than he is doing. all teacher should be a little like he is. i also liked his message it was easy to understand

  • Oh man, its Wilson from House!

  • A terrific comedian but also a GREAT serious actor !!!

  • this is stupid, you can dream all you like but life does not work like this. you're all midguided fools

  • @southsydney life isn't always as you dream, but without dreams, where would we be? where would we go? there would be nothing to shoot for. :(

  • @mykkanen13 wait till reality hits

  • Adore it !!!!!!!!

  • I appreciate this is hollywood but I am training to be a teacher at the moment, and I take great inspiration from this !

I'm not exactly gonna do Brando impressions nor do I envisage getting on the desks or telling my students to either (health and safety !!) but I guess it's all about inspiring and impactingm being original & making learning fun and Williams character clearly does that.

  • i love this movie!! it's one of my favorites!!

  • That ranga is a bloody Fink!

  • Imagine how very different the world would be if this kind of teacher was the rule rather than the exception.

  • That would be amazing.

  • here from davidicke (dot) com

    stand up for your rights!

  • The student in the background at 2:39 min doeas a thumb around -a finger trick with a pen - see it?

if you want to see mre finger tricks visit my channel

  • That is so TRUE laurifan1994!!! I wish there were some professors just like Professor Keating. Teching and learning would be a rewarding and fun experience. Thank you so much for this video. I love this movie!!!

  • It's a great wish that you have ...and with some hard work and activism, we CAN improve education. And we simply must make education available NOT JUST to the shrinking elite.

I was lucky enough to have had a couple of profs who made learning the adventure that it really is.

  • yea man i feel ya. cuz its EDUCATION ppl need, not training to become a servant of the system

  • Re: "fortune"...

You summed it up...people need to come together on that point. We could change the world.

  • why isn't there a teacher like keating out there,IN THE DAMN WORLD???

  • Sadly, if you want the blunt truth, it's because they can't be. Because even when you find those willing to operate beyond the insulting pay and the vast sea of blank, indifferent faces staring at them (or more likely, texting), they have to work in an environment of bureaucracy that would make even Orwell cringe. And the parents, those who want the schools to do it all FOR them -- math to sex ed -- but only EXACTLY how they want it. How do you attract people to get into that and retain them?

  • Thanks. You must be a teacher. I recognize the sentiment. I feel the same way. Imagine having kids stand on their desks at a public school. You'd lose your job for "embarrassing the poor little ones, the innocents."

  • i *do* have a teacher like this actually. and i thank god every day that i had his class. Never have i seen a more dedicated, caring, HILARIOUS, person. He makes every class a joy. Who would've thought that math would make me laugh so hard tears spring to my eyes, or that I would find a teacher that expects the very best and seems to know what you're capable of more than you do yourself? He makes you astound yourself.

  • Tell kids to get up on the desk to see the world in a different light in todays big brother suveillance society and a few things extra would happen a) the kids would report you to the ministry for hatespeech and righthink b) you would get tazed 20 times c) you would get put in a jacket, medicated, beaten and re-educated d) your electronic credit account deleted to minus 2 million. e) no bread for a week f) shame file added to your number g)all the kids beaten and re-educated also. Big Obama says

  • Exactly what is wrong with the world. No one is taught to think for themselves. The world is all becoming drones and kool-aide drinkers. Very few dare to look at things from a different view. Sad actually. But your points are pretty accurate.

  • Everyone said David Icke was crazy but he's got some fantastic stuff in his books and you can consider any side elements (reptiles) as entertainment if you wish. The bottom line is that his research and many others in the field including especially Jordan Maxwell, Alex Jones etc are fantastic. Get informed. The mainstream media is rigged 100%. A CIA cheif said "We own everyone of significance in the media" he turned up "suicided" (yeah right).

  • whichonespink77 - keating was imitating Brando in Caesar - which was out at the time.

  • ok this video is interesting

  • *ding*no! thank you for playing, Mr. Dalton!

  • 1.28 love Neils laugh!! aww *.*

  • at 0.36 Neil's laugh is so cute

anyway, this movie is really interesting

  • this is my favorite scene of the whole movie

  • this one and the seen where he committed suicide

    that was so sad

  • Gale Hansen (Charlie) was the oldest of the bunch. He was 29 in 1989. IMDB and other sites used to say he was born in '69, but actually he was born in '60.

  • Keating was imitating Brando in On The Waterfront (which was out at that time), not The Godfather.

  • I would love to have had Robin Williams as a teacher!

  • i really like this movie =]

  • "constantly look at things in a different way"

"just when you think you know something you have to look at it in another way"

"you must try to find your own voice bacause the longer you wait to begin the less like you are to find it at all"

WE SHOULD ALL LEARN HOW TO LIVE OUR LIFE FROM THESE SENTENCE

  • very inspirational teacher, i wish id had one in those years. Ppl have no idea how sameone like that can affect and change ones point of view, to actually change someones ides, improve their minds..

  • Love this video clip....very inspiration..."to remind oneself to always look things in a different way =)" enchanting...enlightened and provocative....superbly done...I just love this movie!

  • I love this movie. I wish they made more movies like this. everyone is superb. and does any1 else have a tiny crush on robin williams or is it just me?

  • lol i liked the john wayne bit!! ;)

  • love it.. loveit... love this movie

  • Robin Williams should've received the Best Actor Academy Award for this movie! His acting was amazing in this movie...

  • I agree with you 100% Robin should have received something for this film if he got his performance in the movie Good Will Hunting. That's another good movie by him.

    Check it out.

  • Oh, I have =) I also enjoyed him in The Fisher King, Awakenings and Good Morning, Vietnam (another one of his greats!) One of my favorites though is his early work - The World According to Garp. He's great as Garp! He's definitely LONG overdue for a Best Actor Oscar.

  • all his movies are good.

  • OSCAR OSCAR OSCAR!!!!!

  • man or an amoeba? hmm... i may have to think a while on that one. oh, i love this movie. and todd? wow. hes gorgeous.

  • One of the most influential movies. I grew up being inspired by this movie.

It's odd though, perhaps the director overlooked this: Robin William's great imitation of Marlon Brando was a historical error.

The movie was set back in 1959 New England, and yet he was copying Brando's acting as Don Vito in "Godfather", which was made in 1972.

But then again, this is a great movie.

  • mr.perry should have said to neil im going to stick my foot in your ass

  • My favote movie now.I love the scene where he gets spanked.I'm watching this in my English class and we aren't finished. But it'll be really cool!

  • That must be really cool!

  • LUCKY SON OF A! =|

  • wow!

  • Fantastic. Many thanks. I've seen the movie 6 times

  • wow! he sounds just like john wayne.

  • Why wasn't my high school Englih teacher like Robin Williams?

  • Because Dead Poets Society wasn't out yet in 1977.

Or maybe, they just never had the experience of watching this film.

  • This movie means so much to me; so many messages that everyone needs to hear. Before everyone dies, they should see this film. Keating is the greatest teacher ever.
