Love both generations, I honestly prefer the modern a bit more. Yes, I grew up with the Mega Collection Plus and Sonic Heroes, so Im not just a fanboy. I really enjoy the high speed action of the modern levels (Chemical Plant/Speed Highway), and the kick-ass remixes like this one. Although nothing can top the classic generation's charm. :)

I agree with carlcloverfan and the others. People are just gonna thumbs us down and mark our comments as spam but it's plain true. This is the WORST modern remix in the game. Classic wasn't even that good compared to the original Sonic 2 version. This is nothing more than a slowed down bubble gum garbage-y badness with guitar implemented in. Sorry, but it just sucks IMO. I have seen a fan do a better rock-remix, A FAN, SINGLE-HANDEDLY do tons of better remixes. Look up SonicTweaker. 999x better.

@Wiintendoh Or, you could be thumbs downed because you're overly objective, pissing on the little variation they did to the original piece in Classic when they kept pretty much everything baseline except bumping up the overall sound quality and a few extra tones, and then comparing it to the original, which is, again, the same thing but with worse sampling. I have no comments about the Modern piece, it's their version, and it's not Capcom's epic cover on Megaman's 20th.

what i still dont get about sonic generations is the HUGE loophole thats in it. if you look at shadows bio, it says eggmans grandfather dr robotnik created him. yet *SPOILER* eggman says robotnik is eggman and that they are the same person on the end level. i'm probably thinking too much about it but still.

@treevsy there's nothing wrong with that. Eggman's grandfather was Gerald Robotnik, while Eggman is Ivo Robotnik. Robotnik is their last name, and Eggman is a nickname. that's the current canon.

This theme is awesome and epic in its own way. Some Classic Sonic fans have no taste in good Sonic music. Especially in Modern Sonic music. But I also like the original theme, so its a tie for me. :)

But this theme is way too thematic and lacks any kind of excitement or dedication to the original. It just sounds like a rock remix. Nothing special.
