  • Fuck yes

  • hahahahahah

  • German suplex?

  • this was like when brock lesnar super plexed the big show off the top ropes on smackdown .... ooooh yeeeah!!!! lmfaoo0o j/k i kno its fake...

  • The guy throwing landed on his own head lol. He was probably seeing stars for a second

  • What weight class is this?

  • what is this throw called?

  • @ZnajHistory front suplex

  • His throw was one motion which means he cannot get pinned, right? He did not touch both shoulders to the mat, but exposed them during his takedown attempt into a pin.

  • 0:01 i bet this caused the earthquake in 1972

  • Comment removed

  • wow, i feel weak..

  • watch the fat hit the mat

  • beast mode

  • The suplex isn't that impressive at all to be honest. It was basically Taylor landing on Dietrich and then rolling on over. In fact, Dietrich exposed his shoulders to the mat and may, in fact, have pinned himself. Now, the impressive part is how fast Dietrich managed to take advantage of the situation, and force Taylor onto his back. THAT was what impressed me.

  • he looks so happy in the end. awwwwww

  • I didnt catch that he pinned himself at first, i was trying to see if his spine came out of his neck

  • How the fuck did he even get weighed in on a scale?

  • heavy weight wrestling is pwnage

  • didnt this guy break his neck and die from this i really think this is true?

  • wow

  • If this was Greco-Roman , then should have throwing him at all have been a "win"?

  • no the greatest throw, but the heaviest! hah

  • 1972 was a great olympics for wrestling memories... I wish i was alive to see it for myself

  • He was then rushed to the hospital for immediate back surgery... they didn't take any x-rays but were pretty sure he needed it.

  • your not telling me these guys are the same weight

  • WTF isn't 285 the limit for heavyweight??

  • You always see the greatest this or that on you tube and it is usually crap, but this is arguably the greatest throw in Olympic history.

  • dietrich was a bit bigger than everyone gives him credit for...

“Dietrich weighed about 287 at the ’72 Olympics which was bigger than he had weighed in previous Olympics and World Championships,” said Wayne Baughman, a member of the 1964, ’68 and ’72 Olympic teams. “He had a belly on him but it wasn’t a soft belly. He was solid throughout.”

still an amazing feat, just a bit exaggerated

  • Hmm this guy should throw guys his own weight no problem

  • Pushin' half a ton of ass on that mat.

  • I read about this throw years ago while reading one of the ubiquitous ads of Matt Furey...it is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!

  • I read about this throw years ago while reading one of the ubiquitous ads of Matt Furey...

  • That is the most awesome thing I have ever seen!

  • omfg... so fat.

  • This is a great video. As for my 2 cents on the no call for the touch fall, ref was not in position to see it. In Olympic wrestling this happens all the time.

  • Not sure that Dietrich's weight was 287#, as suggested by lazur1. In any event, he was under a big weight discrepancy yet had the guts to initiate that suplay!

  • 1972 Greco rules make Dietrich the loser by a touch pin. Taylor knew this, and let the suplay happen. Taylor & Dietrich wresdlted each other in both freestyle & greco. Taylor beat Dietrich in freestyle. Dietrich was ok afterwards.

  • there's only one "neck" mention in comments

  • @sgrablyamihulitbI because that fat guy has no neck lol

  • I remember watching that well. It was a rematch of the freestyle match earlier. Still amazing to see after all these years.

  • To inchaverde: i used to referee as well. An official pin at that time in Greco-Roman was interpreted as a touch fall! You perhaps are thinking of HS where it is a two - second count??

But the ref. didn't want to take it away from Dietrich as he initiated the throw, and of course the heavy weight disadvantage he was under!

Great move, some say the greatest considering Dietrich was at least 170# lighter! LOL...

  • That is the geatest throw ever.lol

  • why was he wrestling a guy so much heavier than him? in olympics heavy weights have no limit?

  • @SamSam563 now they have limits i believe, but back then they did not

  • I met Chris Taylor, a nice guy, not mean despite his deep, gruff voice. Had some technique, bit relied on superior weight. After his appearances, the Olympics eventually "limited" heavy-weight to only 286 #, now about 264 #...

  • Saw this when it occurred in 1972 Olympics. Dietrich was a former Olympic Champ who placed in 4 Olympics!

Actually, he may have temporarily pinned himself when turning Chris Taylor, but it happened so fast, the ref only saw the roll-through, which is a pin, in Greco-Roman style. Dietrich weighed around 240 #, Taylor 412-415 #.

Taylor got "cheated" by the Turkish ref in freestyle competition, same Olympics, losing 3-2 to Russian great Medved, Mentioned in my book "Wrestling Analyzed".

  • @musicalrich1 I am aware of this info. I am interested to know your background-where you live and about your book.

  • @musicalrich1 Do you know Joe Tice? 149 pounds.

  • @musicalrich1 he dint pin himself he just whent to his back for a sec an official pin is for 2 secs

  • @m: Dietrich actually got up to 287 for this match. Thus, ironically, both are too heavy for the future weight limit.

  • Karelin would had lift both this men at the same time

  • Is it only my notion, or did the referee actually give 5 red??? :D :D :D

  • sorry haiti

  • man awesome belly-to-belly, I know its pro wrestling and all but Scott Steiner in WCW belly-to-belly suplexed a 350lbs+ man over his shoulder. On the downside though Steiner was on the juice

  • @CavemanJesus4Life and its fake....

  • @CavemanJesus4Life reading your comment made me feel retarded and it gave me a migraine , thnx.....

  • @EasyTechProductions thats what Im here for

  • two things

    1) I'm sure the german now has back problems from the american falling on him before he tilted him!

    2) it's hard not to get pinned when ur that fat and flabby. you can be on your side and it will look like your pined

  • that looks alot like baumgardner

  • look at his head at 3 seconds. if you knew wrestling you'd know this guy has a very strong neck,

  • TAH DAH lol

  • beautiful german suplex

  • @Mrcoolmarko Lisen man this is greco roman wrestling is not WWE or other fake shit wrestling this suplex name is not a german suplex is just suplex ok?

    peace

  • @MsSilviu94 frankly i know wwe is a fake pile of S*** any your right it is a regular suplex a german suplex is from behind

  • that would be much easier with a shoulder or hip throw from Judo

  • @dudesrock2

Yeah, except the guy weighs 6 billion pounds, and had was pretty stable.

That suplex was a then and there decision.

  • look at the end, after he win's his match he look's like he is chaseing the reff and the reff is runing.

  • this was a poster in my schools wrestling room.until sum douche vandalized it

  • @JoserHwt it was not vandalized - Chris Taylor went into "pro-wrastling" most coaches took down any of his posters for that. Too bad he shamed himself, he had a great career and did know how to wrestle very well.

  • @James92802 nope, some ass hole drew a giant dick on the poster

  • @JoserHwt i think he was referring to Chris Taylor

  • my back would've snapped in half

  • i love how the us guy is fat hahaha

  • someone get that man an ice pack, advil, and a trophy

  • He's fucking standing on his head at 0:04

  • holycrap. that is one strong dude.

  • good thing the man in blue's spine broke the fall. otherwise there would be some mat-burn and quite possibly an unintended nap.

  • thats power

  • that was the single most miserable throw ever

  • wow!

  • here is a 72kg 5point move

    /watch?v=PFtT5D8zfqU&feature=related

  • I saw better throws.... ;)

  • The laws of physics were ignored.

  • @sogs2 and given a resignation...that was amasssssing

  • @sogs2 No theywere applied to a maximum effect in leverage.

  • @sogs2 hahahaha

  • that throw was crap i saw way better than this

  • If you know the story behind this, then its actually pretty kool. NOt only that but to toss sumone that size (weight)!! and the guy you toss is prolly double your own weight!?!?! Thats a pretty amazing throw. (especially b/c he actually LIFTED him off the ground)!!!!!

  • @LordofTyranny isnt this what they base all those wrestling shirts with the little guy throwing the big guy, on.

  • @NerdstatuZ More than likely it is... its a pretty famous story, but it's fame is dying a little bit in the states tho (half the wrestlers I show this too dnt have a clue to the story lol)

but If I was guessing then i'd say YES... I dnt have anything concrete but it makes sense and there really arent a lot of things/matches the shirts culd be modeled after... hope that helps a bit....

  • @LordofTyranny Yea my coaches tell that story every year to the JV wrestlers and New Varsity wrestlers. I dunno if you ever heard of him but my coaches are Coach swink and Coach oliver (dale oliver) they love to tell stories. I got to colonial forge.

  • @NerdstatuZ hm... that's interesting. So just outta curiosity, wat rendition of the story do they tell? I guess there are several different stories out there lol

(not saying the one you heard is false, but its interesting to know)

if its too long to fit on here, then send me a private message sumtime...

PS wat weight you going to wrestle and wat year?

  • @LordofTyranny I'm wrestling heavyweight folkstyle, I did varsity since freshman year but im going to be on travel team this year i only do greco and freestyle during off season, He really do go too in depth except explain to us what the painting on the wall of our mat room was modeled after.

  • @NerdstatuZ um that's kool and all but wat story does he tell? lol they're sum different stories out there and I was wondering wat he tells you... like i said, message me privately if you dnt want all of youtube to see it... I'm not judging, just thought it was interesting is all... I guess if you dnt want to, then its fine..

PS you did NOT tell me wat year you are... oh and Good luck with wrestling...

  • @LordofTyranny lol i read to deep into what you were saying. ussually when i say i wrestle online people ask me all those questions so i have it set in my mind all that info ill message you the info

  • @ThisFireThatBurns I sent you a message instead... the story wnt fit on here, even wen I shorten it down O_o

    lol

  • @LordofTyranny alright thanks i read it. thats crazy dude haha i cant believe ive never heard that from my coach or one of my teammates or something

  • @ThisFireThatBurns To be honest, that doesnt surprise me lol

this match took place nearly 40yrs ago and less peple rember it, or even bring it up anymore... Its a funny story I think...

  • @ThisFireThatBurns To be honest, that doesnt surprise me lol

btw he was undefeated in Germany for 30 years oO

    and between 1956-1962 international

  • it should pause in the middle and have a thought ballon saying"holy crap mom youve gotten heavy!"

  • Now, *that*'s a "German" suplex! Good Lord.
