I have had the same problem with ma Impreza 01, today i took it to da shop, well a second shop, the first one was charging me $380, I thought i was toomuch so I took it to another ne they charge me $250, so im doing it there.
im changing mine tomorrow. 2008 TSI. all along thought its the tyre.. The question is, can anyone advice, if the bearing plays apart with the handling?
I think my bearings are shot in the back too. I feel your pain. I'm getting a headache at 65 MPH. Its so loud I'm tempted to wear earplugs until I get it into the shop.
Uhm, yeah. Thanks, BUDDY, but I've been part of the Subaru community for over a decade, and know these cars. If you changed yours without a press, you're in the 1%. Read a little online, ask some other OLDER model Subaru owners, but don't tell me I got ripped off. I was happy to pay this, the only time I've ever had someone else work on the car.
Myself, I've replaced the engine, the clutch, suspension, the entire rear subframe, upgraded brakes from drums to discs, amongst other things.
Buddy you got ripped off in Labor , I changed mine on my outback on the car and it took less then an hour , no press needed , change garages their taking you for a ride ..
~$80 for the bearing, and $320 for the labor, all worth it. They had to use a machine shop to press out the old bearing, as their 12 ton press wouldn't push it out.
