talking skip is great.

Also.. for anyone who loves radio..Mumble works real good. It is like a giant CB radio. We just have to choose a server. St louis, Dallas, or Fremont would work. I use Fremont.

We also use Mumble to send PSK-31 and CW through FLDIGI. So much fun.

750 miles is short skip about 1 bounce. In the 80s I used to work New Zealand and Australia with a stock Radio Shack TRC-458 and a home built 1/4 wave ground plane almost every night just after sun down from British Columbia Canada. If the conditions are right 4 watts will go world wide on 27 MHz. When I needed more power I would just fire up my Kenwood TS-520 and work South America durring the midday.
