  • Got one. All the performance functions in the tutorials are clear to me.

What is not easy for me is entering notes in the step seq. and routing.

A tutorial on that would be great.

  • Congrats on your purchase. Glad my video helped. Please enjoy my other videos here of my original music. Played on XM chill station and available on iTunes. paulharlyn-com

  • Thanks for making these videos. I just got my Spectralis 1 a couple weeks ago. It seems a lot easier to program & use than a Yamaha RS7000 which I had some years ago, and waaaaaay easier than the Alesis Andromeda (also more suitable in size for taking to gigs, that thing was HUGE). I have the manual for this but it's always a good help to see videos of someone demonstrating the actual processes. So thanks, it's been some help (:

  • I am in love! I want one sooo bad. I like what you wrote here too.

  • Thanks for this video. I love grooveboxes.

  • I still don't like the groovebox sound. Even though this is one of the most expensive and most feature rich ones, it still has this typical sound and feel to it. I really think the money is better spend on a decent synth and laptop combination...But that's only my opinion.

  • BXL - Each have their own sound and uses. When using this live, this box gets you away from staring at a computer screen and the audience thinking everything is just audio playback. You can run this one while looking at the audience!

  • Still not convinced. Todays software sequencers and dedicated hardware allow you to work without screens. For example NI's Machine or Ableton Live and the APC40... Both offer way more features then the spectralis and free you from the pattern-oriented programming. I really do love hardware, but for the same price of the spectralis I can get myself a laptop, an interface, a VA and an anologue synth...

  • Yes BXL, I'm sure you or anyone can.

But some people simply hate making music on computers. Having a rugged, dependable box that Does It All is worth this kind of outlay, for such people.

  • Useful howto

  • So where can i get one or look at the price???

looked at their web but didnt see "buy it" anywhere...

sorry for the dumb question... thanks...

and it does have all the MIDI functions right? so if i add my S3000 with it.

  • Version 2 is out along with a complete hardware and software update of version 1 which will have the new features of version 2. Prices will be shown in the next few weeks after music messe 09.

  • paul do you have any thoughts on picking up a used spec 1 and having all the upgrades vs just buying V2? It seemed to me that having the upgrades could be more cost effective if I found one at a good price but the V2 looks like the leds and a few other modifications might be a better bet.

  • I have not touched the V2 yet but I like what looks like softer buttons. I can only go by the statement that a motherboard replacement would bring V1 up to V2 specs. Sorry I can't be of more help. I will know more in time.

  • I found a couple of used specs going for 12-1300 and with the upgrade and shipping it made it was still close enough that I just went with the V2. I should have a new one in a few weeks. But please add some more tutorials if you have some time and let us know what you think of the V2 in contrast with V1. Thanks Paul!

  • I have a mint condition spectralis 2 - $1675.00

  • I'd be grateful if you'd record the sequencing process for the D-Synth and H-Synth. Programming sequences for the drum sounds looks straightforward, but I've yet to see someone write a quick bassline or some chord stabs on the fly. The Elektrons seem to have the advantage, as far as that goes.

    Thanks for the videos, Paul.

  • I bought a Roland MC-808 thinking it was the most advanced groovebox, was i wrong or what? This thing is great, but oh so expensive, best of all, it's German, great innovation and advancements

  • Confirmed the Spectralis 2 come for end of February after the official presentation on Namm winter 2009.

  • how long before you get a Spectralis II ?

I've been to the website and it sounds great !! the improved specs are just what the nurse ordered.

    cheers.

  • The name is Hybrid Elements the next release of Radikal Technologies, another design from Jörg Schaaf. The Hybrid Elements will cost 1.000 Euros and come with options to be upgrade by modules not software like the Spectralis and every module will cost around 400 Euros each but we have to wait for least one year for see the Hybrid Elements available for sale.

  • i dont dont know about that, I'll look at the website again because it does sound interesting.

BUT,...... what i did see is the

"Spectralis II" a new and inproved spectralis with 2 gigs sampling and more.

AND,.... I was asking PAUL when he thinks he might getting one.

  • that information looks old, a year old according to the users forum.

  • For the past five days I been reading and thinking about this machine, too many demos I saw im actually changing my mind, anyways I have to improve some savings.

  • It is too expensive piece of hardware, it is good but $2.500 is too high

  • having heard most of the synths in person at NAMM I have to say this impressed me more than any other out there. I'm mostly software, NI and definitely can't wait for Omnisphere but still this thing sounds massive and is satisfying as all hell.

  • Cant make up my mind to get this or the machinedrum uw !?!?!?!?!?!?! This looks awesome

  • that thing looks sick!!!!!!!

  • only vst that sounds good but (digital) is native instruments. every other vst sounds crappy. this spectralis is THE machine to go for...it sounds so analog (has a filterbank and analog monophonic synth...you can't go wrong)

  • Eh? what are you talking about? So many VST's sound good, depends what you want. Massive is about the most impressive VSt you can buy right now which is an NI synth but don't forget ReFX Nexus, the same people who brough us one of the best little VST's ever with Vanguard. You've also go Albino, Cakewalks Rapture to name but a few. As for The Spectralis, thanks for the demo Paul, really nicley done, I got to add one of these beasts to my studio.

  • not to mention Korg Legacy & Audio Realism Bassline!

  • Actually, i want to kick myself for leaving those out. I use Korg ALC (latest with the MonoPoly) and DLC and both are great VST's. I'll have to try the Audio Realism Bassline, not used that before.

  • really cool thing about ABL 2 is not only the sound but the sequencer can analyse patterns from wav & recreate them, a great random notes & slides function & midi out to play other synths. Mono Poly Rocks!

  • That sounds insane, looking into it now, Thanks for the advice Output9

  • NI? They have some..okay VSTi's.. Best one probably being Massive. You want good VSTs? Try GForce impOSCar, ReFX Nexus, Spectrasonics Omnisphere/Atmosphere/Trilogy, or ANYTHING from EastWest Quantum Leap. Maybe Stormdrum, Orchestra Gold, Ra, Colossus; Uhe's Zebra; theres a LOT. Or Gladiator. Keep up your research and open your ears friend :)

    Even some nice homebrew ones like Oxytocin, Abakos, Bloodbucket, etc;

  • Hi Paul, one of the better demos on this machine. Thanks.

  • Cool Machine, but for $2,500 I'd rather have a JP-8000, MC-307, MC-808, and a little spare cash. :)

  • I'd like to play with this machine.

But, if I well understood, the digital synths are actually "just" sample players ?

  • the ONLY machine thats even close to makin me drop the RS.

    da relic

  • Never drop your RS slik ;) Both units are awesome though, have both, what one lacks the other makes up for, great combo if can do. Oh and hi down there to shaft9000. What a bunch of gear whores we are. Great vid on the Specki btw Paul.

    Zam

  • outstanding

  • want want want want want want.....

  • I envy you....swap you Propellerheads Reason 3 for the studio equipment, lol....

    Spectralis is awesome!

  • how about sample editing like on mc808 and rs7000? can you play back vocal samples? then this machine will be complete..

  • You can use use a included sample import app for the PC now and Mac soon that allows you to use your own samples and edit them using all the synth parameters like the multi mode filter, adsr and 10 node filter bank. The length of the sample would be determened by ram and media card size.

  • nice. this is one sweet machine.

  • Brilliant - I am after this machine now - sounds like you can create some serious music by using this gadget only!
