  • the bit with the gum may be a tribute to coogans bluff or assault on preceint 13

  • nice explosion =)

  • Shitheads destroyed 1969 Pontiac Firebird. How many can find in UK in present day?

  • it was a stunt double car

  • this dangerous carstunt was performed by experienced stuntman Jim Dowdall - he mentioned in an interview that "nine times out of ten" the stunt would work - other times the vehicle would end up on its roof - not that this stunt has been performed that often!

  • How do you know this? Did you work on the show; one of the crew?

  • Hitcher - I saw an interview featuring Jim Dowdall on ITV over 10 years ago. He mentioned performing the stunt and how the car would slide on its roof and then the friction between the car and the ground would cause the vehicle to start turning upright and then rolling again.

  • Hitch - Jim Dowdall has also got his own website - I think you can email him about the stunt.

  • @yastunt Found it, cheers for that!

  • @HitcherThunder You found the interview/his website?! Well done! Actually I got in touch with Jim Dowdall a long time ago regarding another great British car stunt - the one at the end of the movie "Shopping". Jim Dowdall was the stunt coordinator for this spectacular crash - the stunt was performed by Lee Sheward. That particular car was driven at 70 mph on 3rd gear. After crashing into the stationary police-car it flew into the air and landed - rolling over around 4 times!
