  • I am just buying a Siver Jubilee model. What brand and model number sound decoder did you use, and what size/make are the speakers, and where did you put them. Great work.

  • so you did all the sound and smoke yourself???? Oh is it all right if i hate you becase i want one soooooo much

  • Excellent video as usual!!!

How did you make the flickering firebox? Do you have a wiring diagram please?

  • @dbdrdbag Hi This is a DCC loco. All you need is a 2mm orange LED, and a 1k resistor. Wire the blue wire to the positive leg of the LED and put the resistor in series with the neg leg I would suggest using the green or purple wire from your decoder. Hope that helps.

  • Im not much for foreign trains, but this is just cool!

  • @TheRichRobloxian Thank you

  • Looks great mate, well done

  • @thebigman1106 Cheers glad you enjoyed it.

  • omg, i didn't know u could get steam without live steam, how much was it

  • @sparkypeeps Hi no its just a smoke generator with 12v dc runing through it. I cannot remember how much it was. Thanks for the interest.

  • @Irish982 i put that comment on when i didn't know u could install smoke generators, thanks for the reply, love the work on the tain still

  • @sparkypeeps Hi Thank you but it is not real steam. She has a smoke unit added and a loksound to generate the sounds. Thanks for looking.

  • @Irish982 its just smoke oil slightly heated in a generator, right

  • @sparkypeeps The live steam also has a smoke unit: you can barley see the smoke from the boiler

  • where do i get the head lamps from

  • @matanuialive2010 Hi I built them but you can now get working LMS and LNER lamps from most of the larger hobby shops in the UK eg Bromsgrove models Digitrains Gaugemaster etc. Thanks for looking.

  • i really like your vids

  • @stickercollector09 Thanks it good to hear that people enjoy them Cheers

  • i love the colour

  • @MrFlix76 This is also my favorite colour in the A4's. This was actually one of the very first colours and I would bet the hardest to keep clean. Cheers

  • does the smoke run out or

    did iu turn it off??

    and how much

    does this all cost????????

  • hi, im just starting out on model railways,

could you tell me what the smoke unit is ?

    many thanks for any info.

  • @doogydawg Hi Best of luck on the new adventure. It is a Seuthe No 22 or 27 which is suitable for DCC. This is a very easy loco to convert to sound and fairly easy to add lights to. Best of luck. Cheers

  • I am SO jealous!! Superb,i can't believe how far DCC and sound has come in a few short years.A far cry from my childhood Tri-Ang days!

  • hornby might be releasing a silver a4 for the normal range. hope they do

  • is it possible to get sounds on a normal Hornby model?

  • @crazyracer12 Hi yes it is. Hornby have released an A4 like this with sound called "Herring Gull" 3-4 months ago, but if you want lights you will need to add them yourself. They have 5-6 different sound locos with more new types on the way.

    Thanks for watching.

  • @Irish982 I was thinking like for example: a B12, Flying Scotsman, even Thomas, could I add sounds to those types with no problem?

  • Hi

Thanks for looking and I am pleased you liked it. Correct, Seuthe No 22, sometimes I will build my own smoke units. It is a Hornby A4. I have my own Lok programmer and I use the Loksound 3.5 as well as the micro.

    Thanks for looking.

  • Fantastic model who`s loco and sound chips do you use? I prosume the smoke unit is a seuth 22

  • Wow that's really incredible, I hope to achieve something of what you've achieved here on my 1980s silver streaks. Simply fantastic. Thank you for sharing.

  • Beautiful model - as if the A4s aint beautiful enough. Will have to pick one of these up.

  • How to u software control a layout?

  • Hi

I use an NCE DCC controller. This give me the ability to control different aspects of the loco eg sound smoke etc. If you look up my video on DCC made easy that should explain more.

    Thanks for the interest.

  • WOW

  • Is it possible to provide the correct 6 exhaust beats per revolution?

  • Hi

Yes it is as I am now using a new method. Up until now it was software controlled but now I have started using hardware to control the chuffs. The main problem now is their is a lot more wiring and tolerances need to be spot on.This was also one of my first locos so considering not a bad effort.

  • that is absouletly amazing and well done

  • Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Cheers

  • That is a truly great model. Did you fit the steam module yourself or is that Live Steam?

  • Hi

No just standard DCC with a smoke generator, not live steam. Thanks for looking.

  • Hi

Contact TMC in the UK, they had Quicksilver and Silver king on ebay. They may still have a few. They are Jubliee loco re named. None currently on their now.

  • I have the new Hornby Mallard as well, and I have to say it is one of the best models I have, such a smooth runner - great detail as well. Thanks for taking the trouble to look it up for me.

  • I am after Quicksilver in that livery, but they are very difficult to find. Good video, lovely loco!

  • Hi Peter

She is a beauty. Mallard will be up soon along with another loco which you will love or hate.

I have seen Quicksilver for sale somewhere. Let me dig it up and get back to you. I am currently building 7 Brass articulated coaches for the Jubilee.

    Thanks for looking.

  • now thats realistic speed!

  • u r not the only one.

  • well if u dont like it then DONT listen to it. Simple.

  • I love it, fantastic and well done.......

  • how many A4s have you got

  • Very impressive, but for me the sound chips are too expensive, i hope the price comes down in time

  • Yes I hope so. If you shop around you can get them for 80-90 GBP but they may not suit your loco, the most expensive loksounds I have seen are about 115 GBP. I want more functions also at least 6.

  • Hi

You dont need a metal chimney if you use a seuthe no 22 generator as it is rubber lined. I will be posting shortly the NRM Flying Scotsman which has metal generators.

Try your local hobby shop and I opened the chimney with a round file.

  • if you get a seuth number 100 generator and hollow out the chimney, that is much better, however, unless you get a metal chimney and hollow that out then you must only use it breifly, otherwise it melts, lovely!

  • Yes you are correct and I will post soon 2 No 100 working together with a reservoir oil tank linking the 2 genny's in a loco.

Just was not really suitable for this loco.

    Thanks for having a look.

  • can i ask, where can i buy a metal chimney, and a DCC Seuthe smoke generator, and also, how do i hollow out chimney?

  • lovely model

  • fantastic

  • when its wheels are at top speed it looks weird... lol the smoke ran out ;)

  • That's the beauty of DCC I can switch it on and off.

  • Were can you get smoke generators from

  • Hi

Just about any of the large model train shops in the UK will have them. If you are running DCC you need a No22 Sluthe Smoke Generator.

  • Very nice. Only fault, if I may say so, is that the 'beats' are only half the speed of a real 3cyl loco (6 beats per driving wheel rev, as opposed to 3 as in the model). Guess this would be very, very difficult to bring off. Apart from that, magnificent stuff...

  • Hi

Thanks for the comments. I have another A4 which I will post with a high quality video to show the sinc. Yes it does look out but after reading your comments I ran it again and it was only slightly out. Hopefully the next video will show it better ant it has some very interesting sounds added.

  • Very Nice, very nice indeed. The only downside is that running at high speed the cuffing is way out of sync with the piston

  • Hi

I will post another video in a couple of weeks with track markers and some calc's to show that it has correct sinc.

Maybe you could give me a link to show me how you have got it right.

    m

  • and do you sell these???

  • Hi

I just started using youtube as I was selling some loco's on ebay. This loco was one of them and it also had fully lit coaches, 60 + passengers all hand painted. Couple of sounds missing here like wheel spin and station announcement. I think I will give ebay a miss now as I find it easier to build 1 on 1 and not one item I sold got near what I get privately.

  • would you build any for sell? and about how much?

  • Hi

Yes I do,...it was never my intention but people keep asking. I have a very long list at the moment and I have more than enough work to keep me going until June/July 2009.

It depends on what you want.

  • did you install the sound chip and smoke your self if you did well done!

  • Hi

Yes I did, thanks for your comments. She has a loksound with 2 speakers, 1 right up the front over the cylinder and 1 in the tender. Both are fully sealed and 3 functions are used for lights with the final for the smoke. The A4 whistles are prototypical and have being taken from an very old recording. I have also added liquid lead to tender and loco for 2 reasons. Better traction and it improves the sound.

  • Hi

Thanks for your interest. Remember it is a 3 cylinder loco and its more the quality of the video, sound not in sinc with video, not sure here why this happened. I did reduce the video quality as the original was over 400mb. I wanted it in sinc at low to medium speeds where you can easily tell not at high speed.

  • Very Nice, very nice indeed. The only downside is that running at high speed the cuffing is way out of sync with the piston stroak
