I think most of us can agree that Bettman has ruined the game. More injuries now in "Bettman's NHL". When the players policed themselves there were far fewer injuries. How Bettman still has a job is beyond me...
Grimson deserved his long suspension, the dude completely lost it. He was manhandling the ref and not obeying his orders. That was just a complete brain freeze on his part. He could of just waited the next game to fight him. Or why didnt he just instigate the fight with Clark during that shift before that happen? He should of just jumped him. Clark was being a one man wrecking crew the whole game and was already a marked man.
If you look at the replay, Clark didn't do anything wrong. He was just digging for the puck and then Marchment came in with a high cross check. Clark was simply defending himself from then on. Poor Smith had to come in the wrong time in jumping in for Marchment and got punished for it, by one monster punch by Clark that busted his eye. Clark shouldn' t even been suspended for this. All he did was punch a guy in the eye. No highstick or anything which the referees assumed.

Lot of the enforcers are very bright and articulate individuals and alot friendlier then regular NHL players. They're are really complete opposite outside the rink. In the rink they play a role. Just like in a movie. They leave that character in the rink. I remember Churla said that to Grimson once. That we shouldn't take the fighting outside the rink, when Grimson was trying to fight him after the game.
Clark cut Steve Smith in the scrum just like he would have Grimson.. if he got his hands on Clark. For one thing, Clark wasn't a pure goon like Grimson. He had talent and still would have kicked his ass.

I think most of us can agree that Bettman has ruined the game. More injuries now in "Bettman's NHL". When the players policed themselves there were far fewer injuries. How Bettman still has a job is beyond me...

Grimson deserved his long suspension, the dude completely lost it. He was manhandling the ref and not obeying his orders. That was just a complete brain freeze on his part. He could of just waited the next game to fight him. Or why didnt he just instigate the fight with Clark during that shift before that happen? He should of just jumped him. Clark was being a one man wrecking crew the whole game and was already a marked man.

If you look at the replay, Clark didn't do anything wrong. He was just digging for the puck and then Marchment came in with a high cross check. Clark was simply defending himself from then on. Poor Smith had to come in the wrong time in jumping in for Marchment and got punished for it, by one monster punch by Clark that busted his eye. Clark shouldn' t even been suspended for this. All he did was punch a guy in the eye. No highstick or anything which the referees assumed.

Seriously, Marchment took a run at Clark and got what he deserved. Smith thought he could handle Clark and got his face destroyed as a result.
Stu Grimson didn't want to fight Clark. If the refs had called his bluff, Clark would have made his face explode too.

Grimson would deserve the 30 games if it occured today. He got hit pretty hard back then too. All the "third man in"crap hurts the game. I would rather have watched Wendel and Marchment go at it and then watch Grimson and Wendel in the third. This was just all stupid dancing that could have killed someone with an errant skate blade.

Lot of the enforcers are very bright and articulate individuals and alot friendlier then regular NHL players. They're are really complete opposite outside the rink. In the rink they play a role. Just like in a movie. They leave that character in the rink. I remember Churla said that to Grimson once. That we shouldn't take the fighting outside the rink, when Grimson was trying to fight him after the game.
