  • hss is not a ship

she is a fast craft and will never be better then the stena adventurer which she suceeded

  • @SCANDIN3 and what HSS is then ?

  • @jaankotkas It stands for High speed service. I was on this last week, Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire and back a week later....it's an amazing ferry!

  • Ship has 2 X LM2500 engines and 2 X LM1600's In Commercial/Military terms. 2 X CF6 Gas Turbines and 2 X F404 Fighter Engines. These are modified for Ships propulsion. Essentially total power output in 72 MW's. Ship can do ~ 40+ Knots loaded.

  • Thanks for the information 1KZZR1100. It is a truly fantastic ship. I am always a big fan of th HSS. I used it this Christmas from Dunlaoghaire to Holyhead return. Unfortunately I think they now run it on one engine less to save fuel.

  • I just sailed on this ship to the Holyhead and then driving to Harwich for Xmas.I sailed back to Dunlaoghaire last Sunday.Excellent ship, wonderful friendly staff and so easy driving on and off.I am a fan!!!

  • could be the 20,000 liters per hour fuel consumption!
