@RECOMENDS2BUY I happen to have a simular problem with my ipod nano 3rd gen. Instead of a sad face, mine is a red X with a red circle around the X. I've did step by step, but by the time my screen goes black after holding down the menu and select button, and when i go to then hold down the Play/pause button, the X and circle come right back up right away and nothing ever changes..... :(

bro thanks for the video. my girlfrnd's ipod is fix.. one thing i did not follow on your steps was connectiing it with a pc/laptop. Try doing the steps without connecting it with a laptop. it worked for me.
