  • In an age where a woman's beauty held her place, kept her power.....mirror mirror on thee wall who be the fairest of thee all? Elizabetha Bathoria. I understand, too well. My FAVORITE COF song in the sense that I FEEL the pain...it moves me to tears. I have STUDIED her beyond what some consider "healthy."... "In an age crucified by the nails of faith.....an aloof countess born..."

  • jarumy

  • Asombrosa

  • i wana have sex and shed blood from my wirst.....darkness and horney

  • This song is so incredibly well-structured, diverse and complex that I actually find it moving. I think this is one of the most genuine songs Cradle ever recorded, with very few theatrics; simply talented songwriters showing off their art. Sometimes, especially with new Cradle songs, they feel like they're phoning it in just to be shocking - in this song you feel that every single member really means what they're doing. I love it.

  • @NearestThingToNone I think that your comment is the most intelligent...What you have wrote denotes a very open-minded person..BTW this is my favourite CoF song ...

  • @NearestThingToNone

Very well spotted and written. Thumb up.

  • YOU GUYS ARE NOOBS! ERZSEBET BATHORY WAS A HUNGARIAN COUNTESS, YOU CAN AT LEAST WIKIPEDIA IT AND NOT SOUNDS LIKES DILDOES!

  • I don't even like Metal. Infact I hate Metal. None the less Cradle of Filth is one of my all time favorite bands.

  • this song gives the chill (in a very good way).i adore Danny, his amazing voice.....I ADORE CRADLE OF FILTH!!!!!!!!!!!!i will follow them forever!the BEST metal band EVER!!!!!!

  • oops,mistake Dani not Danny......

  • damn, nostalgia got me with this song.

almost as much a song from the 90's!

  • Canzone stupenda..

  • sounds good to me we can bath together yes!

  • fucking awesome song slaughtering virgin wenches to bath intheir blood

to stay eternally young yes awesome!

  • Dan is the devil.

  • one of the best CoF songs of alltime!

This is the time where CoF still had real dramatic atmospheres in their music, something they've handed in for more 'funny' vampiric shit, which is very unfortunate. Many old CoF fans love them for not just writing good music, but also having so much drama in their music. Much of that is gone, maybe not lyrically, but definately in the atmosphere of the sound of the songs. Midian (and the departure of Nick Barker on drums) is a big step, back...

  • @SinisterSkip one's creations sometimes depend on the age.i agree with you, but what i want to say is that dor example, the creator of epics, Omerus, composed "Elias" when he was young. Its a long poem about war, full of anger and blood and passion.Odyssia, however, was composed when he was much older, and you can see that he seems more calm and peaceful.Dani created this when he had more blood warmth, inspiration and darkness in his head, and thats what makes the difference.

  • @SinisterSkip The lyrics are the MAIN part of music. You have to appreciate with an artful and creative mind Dani Filths lyrics. They take you to CRAZY imagination lands if your not a dumb person (which most people are SADLY) BTW im not calling you dumb i agree to some point with you

  • @greatestsongsofLIFE

I disagree that lyrics are the main part of music. It depends from person per person. Everyone looks at things from a different perspective. I listen more to the general atmosphere and the feelings songs give me, not so much to the lyrics, but more to the way they're sung. If you call me dumb because of that, I think that's just stupid. Everyone experiences music (and things in general) from a different perspective.

  • @greatestsongsofLIFE

And if you say "you don't know what you miss if you don't listen to lyrics", I already get strong chills down my spine and emotional from CoF without listening (or back in the day, not even understanding) to most of the lyrics. That's about the strongest experience you can get from music imo. Listening to these songs makes me think of the good old days, where we played Quake1/Quakeworld all day long. Amazing :)

  • i can imagine everyone is bashing cof.. but the old shit, WOW don't fuck with that its just black metal with a good swing of melodics

  • cof 4ever 6.58min the best YEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • Cruelty and the Beast is Cradle of Filth's masterpiece in my opinion. Dusk and Her Embrace is amazing, as is Midian, along with Damnation and A Day. But Cruelty and the Beast has EVERYTHING going for it. Just a piece of art that is perfect from beginning to end.

Not a weak or bad song on the album. \m/ \m/

  • simply the best song!!! :D

  • One of the Cradle Filth's best. Definately my best album of them.

  • Ah this song brings me back to when my hair was long and dyed black.

  • She was Slovakian anh her caste is 100 km from my place! She is slovak history

  • Thumbs up if you are the 86,666th viewer.. :D

  • @klixx69 86,666th viewer here.

  • she was Hungarian and I believe Csejte belonged to Hungary then

  • my favorite song ever by my fav band ever!!!

  • this is talent fuckers!

  • can someone tell me what time is each part im too amazed by the song to look at the lyrics lol like at this minute starts part 2

  • bathory was a princess back in the day, one of the many elizabeths. She believed bathing in the blood of virgins would keep her young.

    \

  • @inarimi Yup... and she lived in Slovakia... and I´m from Slovakia :P

  • @Orrin29 presne tak len im daj!

  • @inarimi its a myth

  • @wewereinthecorner its the truth, check wikipedia..so cruel!!

  • @inarimi

    * queen

  • @inarimi Actually she was a countess.

  • @inarimi exactly! i mean, who doesnt know about elizabeth bathory!!???!!

  • @MM1fanfreak Well, a lot D:

  • @tDeathwingr ikr

  • @inarimi she was a Countess

  • @inarimi She was a countess, but what do you mean "one of the many Elizabeths"?

  • @unafraidoftruth wow someone got dropped on their head as a kid a lil too often

  • @d00bie42o >.> elizabeth bathory was not a one of the suppose elizabeth as in queen of ingland my dear friend... she ruled in hungaria

  • @unafraidoftruth he or she thinks she is one of the queen elizabeth xD poor child...

  • @inarimi your fucking right

  • @361tejas only one part inarimi got right

  • @inarimi well actually she was a countess in hungaria, she was know as elizabeth bathory

the reason she was never killed or trialed was cause her cousin was a duke and yes she had an obssesion of killing younge women and bathing in blood at age 50 she was know as the most beautiful women in hungaria but one of her victims escaped and they arrested her and she died in a cell.

  • @Eerised18 - It wasn't a cell like a prison though that they kept Elizabeth Bathory in though. They locked her in her room and bricked it up.

  • @maidenslayer yeah something like that xD im a little rusty in history... but still SHE WAS AWESOME .... :P

  • @inarimi Bla bla bla

  • @inarimi i know

  • Lol who really knows who´s Bathory?

  • lol facebook

  • @SatanistMiss its very simple. transcripts that were once never seen are now open to them to view. Kim Craft just wrote a book, "infamous lady", theres a group on facebook dedicated to her and the study of her life. its now common knowledge that just about everything written about her in the past is simply not true. And people today make such a huge deal about "torturing servants" back then, that was very common. whether it was right or wrong, it was simply how things were.

  • @SatanistMiss tell your mother to slow her roll, not me. Im simply setting people straight, thats all.

  • this song is so deep!makes me want to be alone in a dark castle

  • @SatanistMiss if you knew even the slightest bit about her, you'd know this, on the night they raided her castle in 1610, the only people caught in the act of torturing and killing girls were 4 of her servants. the countess wasnt even there. she was staying at another place of hers in town, called the manor. each of these 4 servants testified to killing many women. the guy of the bunch would go around bragging about killing girls. so stop reading internet crap, ok.

  • @SatanistMisssweetie, no, she didn't bath in blood. wow. learn a little before you type, ok? IN the last 10 or so years, all the court transcripts for her mock trial were released. its been well established that she never bathed in blood. that was made up by a priest over 100 years after she died. listen, i know more about her, that probably anyone. theres a site on facebook, thats entirely for scholars and enthusiasts of her. You do realize she was set up right? stop reading wiki

  • <3

  • lets get a few facts straight. Elizabeth Bathory didn't bath in blood, nor did she ever kill 600 girls. sorry to say she was a victim of myth spreading. if one really got to know her and what actually happened, they would learn, that her 4 servants did the killings of girls, not the countess. the countess was an amazing woman.

  • most people have no clue to what alot of these songs are about and who they are dedicated to. its a woman i'm currently writing a novel about. Probably the most amazing woman who ever lived.

  • tis the first track i ever heard with cradle... years ago and the lyrics still send chills down my spine everytime i hear tis =) EPIC stuff

  • 3:14 - 3:22 and 4:17 - 4:23 really deep vocals.o_o

  • I wanna butt fuck my girlfriend while listening to this song

  • amazing.

  • Dani needs to remember some lytanies of lyrics...

  • An amazing song from an amazing Composition... As a whole its completely brilliant... I Love it.

  • @horny0donkey0 no ?

  • @wewereinthecorner yes yes :D

  • @horny0donkey0 What the fuck?

  • @tDeathwingr YOMOM

  • @BlitzkriegxDeathx666

Did you just refer to the power of 4 on the interwebz? Big no no.

  • the intro to this song is so fucking epic!!!!!!

  • Nice music, but the recording is veeery bad... you barely hear the drums!! The bass sounds too high... ugh, too bad :-/

  • what means "bathory"? it´s not found in any dictionary..

  • @pallorcagirl2 Bathory - a Hungarian countess. Guinness World Records recorded as the most mass serial killer.

  • @Djevanna thankss :))

  • @Djevanna its Elizabeth Bathory...she was a countess in the 15 or 1600's. she would hire peasant beautfiul girls and slaughter them and bathe in their blood to perserve her youth, than eventually locked her in a room in her own fortress condemned till death. You here Dani Talkin about Elizabeth alot in their songs..maybe I;m wrong but I watched a documantary on it and than listened to the lyrics and put 2 and 2 together.

  • @shred4life3 Actually, she was bricked into the room and after 4 years died. But thats just the talk here. (Hungary)

  • This is my favorite song by Cradle of Filth by far!! My fav song by my fav band!!

  • the part where the chick comes on is so fucking badass

  • best song

  • Now THAT's music.

  • beautiful song!!

  • a m a z i n g ! Dani Filth is a genius!

    so beautiful:3

  • I made an instrumental cover of Bathory Aria. It's up in soundcloud at soundcloud . com/ivanmontelongo

I also have the Black Goddess Rises instrumental cover up there too. Free download as well. No one has done a complete cover on this song so I did one.

  • eight people were killed and drained of their blood.

  • nostalgia, from a time when cradle was good :3

  • You ass! Where the hell is the end of the song!?

  • liz never actually bathed in her victims blood. and she was chubby and pale. nothing like that girl on the cover. she was kind of homely looking, hence her mad insecurity issues. a lot of things about her were embellished. a very early serial killer the noble whore was.

  • CRADLE OF FILTH = THE GODS OF METAL

  • This Is Why Cradle of Filth Are Thee Best Band In Metal. No Other Band Can Do What They Do.

  • the only good song made by cof...it's truly amazing. Too bad he's such a flamboyant faggety show-off

  • @BmGeoBm Every Song From Cradle of Filth Is Amazing. And Dani Filth Is The Most Hellish Demonic Dark Best Metal Singer In History Period.

  • omg how could they possibly write those lyrics jesus it's unbelieveable!

  • Comment removed

  • When I first heard this song I Fell straight In love with it.

    amazing...simply...amazing

  • For each masked, jewelled gaze held dread purpose

Horror froze painted eyes to cold stares

    And even Her dance

    In the vast mirrors cast

Looked the ill of Her future

    If fate feasted there...

  • @SATAN1KO Enjoy it. Cradles best cd! If you havent already please pick up Midian another classic!

  • quite possibly the greatest metal album ever. i dont really listen to metal as much as i used to but this album still affects me the same way it did more than ten years ago. people talk a lot of shit about cradle and dani but very few bands have created anything as dark and atmospheric as this masterpiece.

  • Piel de gallina

  • masterpiece :D

  • Cruelty and the Beast is the best album Cradle has ever done. and boy, they were good in the 90's!

  • love the song..but wheres all the creepy sounds at the end?

  • Old cradle is just so good. i really wish they would go back to writing music like this.

  • DUMB bathory xD

  • rien a redire morceaux magnifique CME quoi le metal peut etre magique et enfin CELEBRATION QUOI LE GARRRRS QUOI

  • "Cruelty and the Beast" is without doubt the best and most lyrically/musically sophisticated album CoF ever produced. I agree wholeheartedly with NocturnoPt that this era was CoF at their creative peak!!!!

  • This is just an example of how intelligent and cult Dani is.

I miss the days when he used to write lyrics like that, and Cradle of Filth to write musical masterpices like that.

    Hail old Cradle of Filth

  • @NocturnoPt fully agree!

  • a verry cryfull song

  • fantastica. rimane uno dei pezzi più coinvolgenti di sempre

  • Favorite album, one of my favorite COF songs

    The music speaks for itself

  • my fav song by COF

  • this song rocks

    so does cradle of filth!!!!!!

  • whre lyric..???

  • @hamdee123 lyrics are in the description

  • @CofFans1 what..???

  • It probably took forever to write the lyrics for this

  • So dark, so poetic nd so damn good!!! 1 of COF's best. Who else could've been this creative other than them???

  • this song is scary

  • Best 3 COF songs:

    1. Tearing the Veil from Grace

    2. Bathory Aria

    3. Saffron's Curse.

    Just my opinion.

  • in my opinion:

    1. Tortured Soul Asylum

    2. Babalon A.D. (So Glad For The Madness)

    3. Lord Abortion

Just difficult to choose only 3 songs

  • gothic al da way..........i will see em before i die

  • At the beginning the choral start (20 seconds or so) Who is that? Is that off another song, and if so, what song?!?

  • They write beautiful lyrics, pure poetry!

  • Dani's lyrics are always so good...
