DUDE I CAN NOT THANK YOU ENOUGH !!!!! YOU ARE A WONDERFUL TEACHER AND I AM SO GLAD SOMEONE FINALLY DID A TUT WITH A NEWER VERSION:D ... oh wow not many things make me happy enough to use a smiley
@tayjacsmith Haha, thanks. I am working on getting another cool tutorial up here in a bit. I am a bit busy with my calculus and chemistry classes right now, though.
@pedropancinha Oh? It has been three days, and yesterday was Friday. I was not kissed by the love of my life, and nor did I die. Congrats on the epic fail.
@marksmanmerc1 This is the first time I have seen this mentioned, but yes. I made my other fluid tutorial when I was 14, and I was 16 when I made the 2.56 tutorial. A bit of a change, no doubt.
there is no add button on mine.. also when i press the physics button it doesnt look the same. perhaps its different with 2.59 , all my tabs are in 2 columns of 3 when i press the physics, and when i press the fluid the only option that is displayed is-type,fluid volume initali initial velocity
@cepomwa A large and tiny cubic cylinder? What on earth is that? Is that some sort of new shape that has recently been discovered? I need a bit more info than that if you want me to help you, sorry man.
@cepomwa That is interesting. But I still need more info. It would be nice if you could send me the .blend file. Put it up on some hosting service and PM me the link. I will see what I can do.
Regarding the timingof the water simulation. Blender defaults to 24 frames per second (fps). So in determining how long your animation will be, you multiple 24 fps by length in seconds of your animation, for a more realistic look.
For example. You want a 10second animation. You multiply 24fpa x 10s = 240 frames. So set your time line to 240 frames long which =10 seconds. Of course if you set the frame rate to 30 fps. Then it's 30fps x 10s.
I have no idea what I am doing wrong, but I am following your instructions exactly. I set the uv sphere to "fluid", then set the cube to "domain" but whenever I set the domain cube to "domain", the uv sphere does nothing. Only the domain cube turns into the water simulator! This is making no sense.
What am I doing wring here? I tried it in 2.57, 2.56 beta and 2.56a beta.
when i set the box to domain, the sphere doesn't change into a blob and the box doesn't disappear. am i missing something? that, and when i render it the original sphere doesn't go away, so there's a drop of water and then a random ball still floating there.
@krazyates888 You are probably using a different version of blender than I. Also, about the sphere still being there, you just need to send it to a different layer: select it, press M, and choose another one.
@krazyates888 Well, it pleases me to be able to help you. I was new at this at one point too. I make these tutorials for a reason, you know. Glad to help.
@EneilShade Oh, it's okay. I figured it out. What I meant was move the screen so you can view the object at a different perspective, but you hold down the middle mouse button. Thanks for trying to help!
i have to admit that i think that there is a way to make it a thousend thime faster! if you are in the physics tab, bake change resolution then you need to uncheck : generate speed vectors. that should speed it up. sorry for my English
oh i haven't tried it yet but i figure the obstacle option will work. i am such a fail
Kolop315 1 month ago
@Kolop315 Ah, don't worry about it. You will get a hang of it eventually.
EneilShade 1 month ago
REALLY HELPED but how do i make the water interact with other objects?
Kolop315 1 month ago
@Kolop315 You set up collision objects. I might make a tutorial about it, I might not. I am pretty busy with calculus and chemistry...

if you have six cores you should look into 64 bit.... it will be much faster
moocharific 3 months ago
@moocharific I have a 64bit AMD Phenom-II x6, I run 64bit Windows 7, and I have Blender 64bit, so yep, I have looked into it! ;P
Good advice, though to anyone who reads this. If you have a 64bit CPU, do it. It's better.

when I turn the cube to domain it doesnt fit to the UV sphere, insteand it becomes a large and tiny cubic cylinder.
And yes I set the Sphere to fluid.

hey man how do I put this in a live footage (like if I want to control the water element)
unikati101 7 months ago
@unikati101 That requires 3D image tracking, which is not integrated into Blender. Look it up.
