I took the THREE year contract and got the Blackberry Bold 9000 for FREE instead of having to pay 300$ on a two year...which was still a great deal because the 3 year was supposed to be $99.99.
the chrome frame is actually plastic and the screen is also plastic, both happen to scratch very, very, very easily. battery life sucks after just a month of usage. making or receiving calls becomes at times impossible, those are phone, not network related issues, many calls are dropped, even that the connection is at 100%. it crashes regularly for no reason and starts only up again when the battery is taken out. had 4 replacements, all plagued with the same problems. Nokia E72 here I come!
The only thing that sucks about the BOLD is the low resolution blurring camera quality! If you need to take a photo get a real camera or video recorder end of discussion.
Kid of big and heavy meas substantial! You of all people should know that the mobile market has undersized units for years! Functionality and form factor the BOLD brings it all ! A young kid or an older aging adult can communicate on the BOLD very efficiently! The storm touch screen (one big moving plastic screen button sucks!)

i have owned both the iphone 3g and the bb bold i think both phones have there plus's and minus's. but the bold excels in more area's then the iphone like the browser. and the bold has a way better screen then the iphone even at half the size. iphone has the app store as does the blackberry now. the media player on the blackberry uses itunes and media player which is sweet. and the all mighty iphone doesnt even mms or record video with out expensive apps that dont really work or jail breaking.

so i looked at another phone to get and i picked the bold. I love it. The speed is great and i can type so much faster. I was thinking about a fuze but i am not a fan of Windows mobile.
i am much happier with my much more powerful 600 mghz processor in my blackberry bold.

Take the light road and get an Ipod Touch. Its basically the Iphone without a camera and phone call ability. After putting in a few applications, I was like...hmmm...would the Iphone had been worth being stuck with a two-year contract and they might upgrade it a few more times.....I promise I love the Ipod Touch, but I love the Blackberry family more

Depends what you want the device for. The iPhone's sexier to look at and has great multimedia capabilities, but the battery life is really bad and it's a nightmare if you have heavy email traffic.
The Blackberry has excellent email and browser capabilities (which are included in the BB service price) and the battery life is much better. The Bold is a notch up from earlier BBs in that Web pages load exactly as they would on a computer (or iPhone) rather than just as hyperlinked text documents.
I tested the BB Curve, BB Bold and iPhone and went for the Bold in the end. Good decision as far as I'm concerned. The BB network is exceptional and has the added benefit of never slowing down as it's unlimited service, unlike the iPhone (here in Spain, at least). Added bonus for us Mac users is that the Bold is Mac compatible.
i got the iphone 3g 16 gig !! here in canada the network is really fast especially 3g on the iphone its almost as fast as broadband. the bold is a excellent phone also just that i wantedt a phone for leisure. i use mine at nightime as a mp3 player for jogging and i really like touch screens anyways to each there own !!! oh ya by the way is your network VODAFONE
I love this phone. It's reliable. Great voice quality, great bluetooth, great wifi. Great gPs,good browsing (although not as grea as iphone) Great music playback etc.....
The touch pro has alot of potential, but the software on it slows down the phone alot. It has the same 525mhz processor as the G1 but youd never know it. The interface for sure needs tweaking and it just doesnt feel "finished" I guess. You will love the Bold for sure.

She didnt mention that you can expand up to 32gb, she just drove home the fact that you have to buy sd cards. Who cares, the people that buy this level of phone probably have the money for an sd card.

To me the size and weight make it BETTER, not worse. I find the extra weight over the Curve makes it feel like a higher quality device. It isn't like it is heavier than the phones that did nothing but make calls that we have all carried for the last 10 years or so. It's hardly uncomfortably heavy, so why complain about that?
And she didn't like the lack of touch..but for people who send a lot of messages, which she clearly doesn't, a real button is much better. Sometimes new tech isn't needed.

This wasa really bad review on behalf of the WSJ. She didn't go into any of the key particulars of why the bold is significantly different, especially for previous owners. The screen alone is not just brighter, but near HD quality - it surpasses every device currently on the market. The new firmware upgrades, etc.
I just got my BlackBerry Bold, I'm extrememley happy with it. It's 5000 times better than any other blackberry on the market. Its so worth the price. You will not be disappointed.

i have an iphone..its ok i guess...the battery life isnt that great and cant take video and there is no flash in the camera...i really really like the bold though...good review

Depends what you want the device for. The iPhone's sexier to look at and has great multimedia capabilities, but the battery life is really bad and it's a nightmare if you have heavy email traffic.
The Blackberry has excellent email and browser capabilities (which are included in the BB service price) and the battery life is much better. The Bold is a notch up from earlier BBs in that Web pages load exactly as they would on a computer (or iPhone) rather than just as hyperlinked text documents.

blackberries= emails and text messages its a business phone
except the webbrowsing is much superior on the iphone its faster and safari is unbeatable its on of the best browsers on a phone !!!

I tested the BB Curve, BB Bold and iPhone and went for the Bold in the end. Good decision as far as I'm concerned. The BB network is exceptional and has the added benefit of never slowing down as it's unlimited service, unlike the iPhone (here in Spain, at least). Added bonus for us Mac users is that the Bold is Mac compatible.

i got the iphone 3g 16 gig !! here in canada the network is really fast especially 3g on the iphone its almost as fast as broadband. the bold is a excellent phone also just that i wantedt a phone for leisure. i use mine at nightime as a mp3 player for jogging and i really like touch screens anyways to each there own !!! oh ya by the way is your network VODAFONE

I love this phone. It's reliable. Great voice quality, great bluetooth, great wifi. Great gPs,good browsing (although not as grea as iphone) Great music playback etc.....

The touch pro has alot of potential, but the software on it slows down the phone alot. It has the same 525mhz processor as the G1 but youd never know it. The interface for sure needs tweaking and it just doesnt feel "finished" I guess. You will love the Bold for sure.

Wow, this woman is an idiot, im not sure if she could care any less about reviewing the product.
I work for Bestbuy Mobile and id fire her ass in a second if she spoke like that to customers. The Bold is alot more than just a full keyboard, Cheapy phones like the Propel even have that.
She didnt mention that you can expand up to 32gb, she just drove home the fact that you have to buy sd cards. Who cares, the people that buy this level of phone probably have the money for an sd card.

To me the size and weight make it BETTER, not worse. I find the extra weight over the Curve makes it feel like a higher quality device. It isn't like it is heavier than the phones that did nothing but make calls that we have all carried for the last 10 years or so. It's hardly uncomfortably heavy, so why complain about that?
And she didn't like the lack of touch..but for people who send a lot of messages, which she clearly doesn't, a real button is much better. Sometimes new tech isn't needed.

This wasa really bad review on behalf of the WSJ. She didn't go into any of the key particulars of why the bold is significantly different, especially for previous owners. The screen alone is not just brighter, but near HD quality - it surpasses every device currently on the market. The new firmware upgrades, etc.

I just got my BlackBerry Bold, I'm extrememley happy with it. It's 5000 times better than any other blackberry on the market. Its so worth the price. You will not be disappointed.
