What you do, is mix a cup of latex, and any paint, then apply with a smaller detail brush, that way the color stretches with the mask.

How many layers of liquid latex did you put on this? I attempted something similar but it didn't hold the shape as well as yours did, and I'm thinking it may have been a lack of latex.

But also, I couldn't get the same amount of detail as yours seemed to capture. How did you manage to do this?

More than anything I would like to have some kind of Back-pack system with a battery and some speakers that stick out from the sides, that could play back some of the Predator sounds, so that when I pushed a button on the left forearm control panel, a mighty roar would come out that would make any cop within a 3 mile radius shit themselves.

hey, i just bought about 30 bottles of Mold Builder, and i was reading the container and it said it contained Ammonia (100% to be exact), and that it was dangerous to use on skin, and now im highly disapointed, because This is the only stuff i can find, and i dont have enough time to order it online. All i want to know is if this stuff is dangerous to inhale or to use on skin.

Ammonia is a great brush cleaner when you have a brush that is stained with latex. Also, here is a FANTASTIC tip to help in creating textures in your clay (and if you use oil based clay, you don't need to keep wetting it). One of the most common textures one sees in skin are wrinkles. Lay plastic wrap over your clay build, and draw the desired wrinkles over the plastic, pressing into the clay with your sculpting tool. You will get a much more realistic looking wrinkle.

would the same process work for a full head mask? As in, would it be possible to peel the full head latex off, w/o rippage. Also, do u have any suggestions for making latex gloves. As in like for monster hands. My question is, could u just paint the latex onto the whole hand model, and peel it off without it ripping?

Really impressive job, especially for the first time you've ever done something like this! A few suggestions for you and your viewers:

*Latex sticks to itself like crazy. Before you peel it off, powder it with a lot of baby powder. Then powder the inside.

*You can increase the clay's working time clay with water in a spray bottle Be sure not to spray it too often, you will turn your clay to mud. If you need to walk away from your sculpture, cover it with wet paper towels and a plastic bag.

@instantmonsters Good hints. Especially with that spray bottle. I might have to try that. I knew you could cover a sculpt in a wet bag, but didn't think that worked for air-dry clay. Awesome.

@alexthemoviegeek If it's water-based clay it should work. I've had to build whole body suits with the stuff, so it's important you keep the parts you're not working on from drying out. You can also seal the styrofoam head with several coats of crystal clear so that it can't absorb moisture out of your clay.

By the way, I love how excited you are at 3:21. I saw that face in the mirror many times when I was starting out. Still see it from time to time now :)

@CustomFig To keep the brush clean, it's good to dip it in some dishwashing soap before using it, helps the latex to not stick as much. If there's a lot stuck in the bristles, you might just have to throw away that brush, or you can try to cut some of it out and wash it out.

Say you wanted the mouth to move. ( I am a noob) How would you position the mouth for the clay sculpture?

@Leon8108 If by "mouth" you simply mean the lower jaw, you'd try to sculpt it closed, and then latex should stretch enough to let it open. If by "mouth" you mean making the mandibles move, then that's a whole other issue. You'd have to get creative with it.
