here's his name again in caps; GAYLORD BIRCH my souful man at the traps, all styles, anytime, any band...rip 1999 this no cal giant of style and stroke
I was in HS when the Pointer Sisters came out with Yes We Can Can. I bought the album and discovered all this beautiful, jazzy music. I bought 3 albums that featured Old Songs, Cloudburst. The commercial stuff was okay to dance to etc, but I loved all the old stuff the best. Sorry to hear one of the sister's died in recent years. The music lives on.
We will never see talent like that again. Absolutely LIVE!! God they were good. I'm so glad I grew up when I did. Nowdays kids have the pussy cat dolls. Ugh.
That vedio took me back to the early 70's and I saw them perform at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. As a matter of fact, it could have been that performance, because it was a traveling road show, that they took from venue to venue. Thank you so very much for posting this clip.
This may be the greatest momnt of The Pointer Sisters! Singing Basie AND Jon Hendricks! I've died and gone to June! I have been a fan of the Pointer Sisters from the first time I heard them singing backup on a Taj Mahal record. This & Cloudburst are my faves, but I loved their later work...from Jump to Free Me From My Freedom and beyond. They have shaped my life as much as The Beatles did earlier! It'll never happen, but I'd love to see a DVD of their Carol Burnett performances.
Hold On - I've stumbled into a little piece of vintage Heaven! Thanks to your postings, I've seen 3 of my favorites from their first 2 albums so far ... so unusual for 1973-74, but I've always been a sucker for retro Done Right. A million thanks!
there is so much talent in this clip, i can't grasp it all, i try to take it all in, too much sexiness here.....i can't get enough of the pointer sisters!
This is amazing stuff. I really stoppped thinking about The Pointer Sisters after Steppin Out ... the early work was amazing, and I have not thought about them for years and years. Wish they would get back to their roots and record these songs again. The Live album is amazing - and I will have to look for it as my LP has been lost in the past. Thank u so much for posting xxx
sadly with Bonnie on drugs and June dead it would never work.this is one of my favorite songs so I know what you mean. I did get to see them when this was new music in a small setting ...it was awsome. I will tresure the memory for ever
Thanks universuale... Your "classic" Pointer Sister videos made my day. I think the Pointer Sisters "Live at the San Francisco Opera" will be on my iPod all day.
