Most people assed enough to fight (for no profit) on the streets attack like "fags" to begin with. However, if you're up against someone with some technique (especially if they know how to deal with throws), it becomes a bit more strategic.

@Finalymadename Nevertheless, it's basic principles are valid and it does give one leverage over the opponent. It also uses very smart techniques to dodge and take control of a situation. Attacks are useless in today's society unless you want to go to jail. You must defend yourself without ever attacking or striking back. That way, no one can say that you committed a crime. You can say without lying that you never hit them back at all, not even once.
@FirstWhispers I'm sorry man, I have to disagree with most of the things you said there, attacks are not useless. You must defend yourself by ANY MEANS NECESSARY. Anyone aware of their body and how it works will see this shit coming and stop it. You can't rely on the assumption that your opponant is going to be ignorant of anything. That's how you lose.
You wouldn't be able to control the wrist of a dedicated attacker without a monster grip, they techniques are unrealistic and dangerously labeled as "street fight self defence".
choregraphed, i done numerous martial arts, that would not work in the street, for the slim chance for it to work it would take 20 years of training. Muay thai, kickboxing bearing mind keep to low to kicks and. ju jitzu on a one on one maybe two basis.. these would work.. nine times out of ten a fight happens so quick it relies on upperbody ie punches
The whole point of aikido is to redirect the attacker's 'energy'. Meaning you do not need strength, just coordination and an understanding of body movement.
Close to no one will have the hand strength, speed or accuracy needed to pull off these techniques. In a kniofe fight you'll end up with a gashed palm. Is a street fight no one will let you grab a hold of their arms/wrists unless they are a grappler, in which case, enjoy being thrown or slammed.
@MongoloidNigger Actually the opposite is true. Aikido uses no strength; as a matter of fact, the stronger your opponent the better. It's their speed, weight, and strength that you use, not your own. And yes you may get cut up against a knife, but at least you wouldn't die.
Bro, If you aren't strong enough to keep hold of their wrist/arm/hand or whatever then they'll pull away the only control of the "throw". Apparently aikido will only work on some Big Fat Stupid Retard Stongman who doesn't know how to fight beside charging his opponent and trying to pummel him like an insane gorilla. Protip Homie, Smart fighters do exist and they use WAY MORE PRACTICAL TENCHIQUES THAN THIS.
You're relying on EXTREMELY RISKY TECHNIQUES with VERY LOW PERCENTAGES of success in REAL LIFE SITUATIONS. You're just giving me reasons why you still think it's ok to waste your time on these practices, even though there are more proven, better suited, more reliable techniques available for your learning.
Can you use this on an idiot? YES. Will this save your ass in any real situiation? 9/10 times NO.
@MongoloidNigger Do you honestly believe it that sheer power is enough to overcome just about anything? Trust me, if I extend your arm, then place my entire weight on yout wrist, you wno't be able to move an inch even if you were to be Silvester Stalonne. As a matter of fact, even a 5 feet tall girl could easily get you immobilized.
You are putting words in my mouth. As a Jiu Jitsu practicioner, I know Strength isn't everything, and technique plays a role that is at least equal to strength, however, what I am saying is that your techniques are FUCKING STUPID and DO NOT WORK. You never see any "aikido" wrist throws in MMA for a reason, that STUPID BULLSHIT ONLY WORKS ON RETARDS.
@MongoloidNigger You are indeed correct, there IS a reason why no Aikido masters ever take part in MMA competitions. And that is SELF RESPECT. And also respect to Aikido. It goes against Aikido philosophy to use one's knowledge without a purpose. If you wish to learn about effectiveness of Aikido, I'm fairly sure you'll easily find someone willing to spar with you. Oh, and apparently in your Jiu Jitsu practice you didn't learn to respect others very well. Tsk.
If Aikido worked it would show in MMA , don't hide from the truth. I show respect when it is appropriate. You have been using a strawman fallacy the whole time, playing me like a "brawn>brain" type. I have simply been critiquing the displayed techniques. I'm saying that these throws are ineffective. You won't be able to get to the positions necessary to throw. I bite my thumb at thee for having wasted your time, hardwork, and determintation in learning a completely useless practice.
@MongoloidNigger *Sigh*... Loook kid. There are 3 variants of Russian martial arts sambo: sportive, self defense and combat. They all vary in how certain moves are performed. We all know exactly what sportive sambo looks like as it's often seen in MMA. However, VERY few MMA fans have EVER seen a combat sambo master. Now, do you think that combat sambo is never used in MMA because it isn't effective? Lemme give you a hint, by the way. All Russian special agents are trained in combat sambo.
Quick wiki search provides - "Combat Sambo resembles modern mixed martial arts, including extensive forms of striking and grappling where (unlike Sport Sambo) choking and bent joint locks are legal."
You obviously have no idea what the fuck you are talking about.
@MongoloidNigger I know exactly what combat sambo's like, thank you very much. What I'm saying is that, despite all the simmilarities between combat sambo and MMA, combat sambo masters NEVER take part of MMA competitions. What this means is that one may have various reasons not to serve as a crowd entertainer.
But, this argument seems to lack any point. If you wish to convinse anyone, upload, say, 10 vids of yourself beating different aikido students in a sparring. Then we'll talk.
You said "combat sambo is never used in MMA". Shut up, you obviously don't understand MMA.
You have also abandoned the Aikido argument, you pretty much lose.
Suggesting I go out and spar with 10 aikido guys is ABSURD.
Aikido is well proven to be ineffective. Assuming every attacker you'll encounter has no clinch or ground game is a poor judgment call. Aikido practicioners take a HUGE risk and you are obviously inexperienced in street combat for not understanding this.
@MongoloidNigger Absurd? Just what makes you say that? Also, who has proven aikido to be ineffective, and how? I know, of course, that my opponent in a street fight might be an experienced mat wrestler. What YOU don't understand is that aikido students have some skills in mat wrestling as well. There are a lot of things we can do that aren't shown in promotional vids. Hell, I can do a high kick if I want to. All you have to back up your words is MORE words. You are beginning to bore me.
If you don't get why it is absurd then you are even more disconnected from reality than I thought.
Aikido isn't a player in the modern martial arts scene because aikido practicioners are too cowardly to test your techniques in competition. Your "art" is stagnant.
Find me a video of an aikido guy proving aikido to be functional. Oh, and NO DEMOS princess.
I'm boring you? lol it's probably because I am not your entertainer.
@MongoloidNigger Absurd? Just what makes you say that? Also, who has proven aikido to be ineffective, and how? @MongoloidNigger i train MMA and i know for a fact an MMA guy would get his wrist tweaked and maybe a sore solar plexus if he went up against an akido athlete. what you don't seem to understand is they teach you how to fight as well as joint manipulation and weapons. akido is an urban street tactic that was originally developed for warriors.. its not that hard to throw kicks and punches and execute takedowns. which is why everyone does MMA. why dont you get off your ass and take some classes?
lol as if you are some kind of authority on the matter. My attitude is about learning the most functional techinques that work in the real world and backing up my talk. Aikido guys talk big shit for having never proven their skills against anyone. If I saw aikido guys step up to the plate and display their techniques in modern competition I'd applaude them, but they never will because they are having too much fun staying stagnant in their dojos.
@MongoloidNigger apparently youhave an issue with knowing the difference between a combat sport and a martial art. Aikido in sport is nothing more than judo. Aikido outside of sport is against someone who doesn't know ukemi therefore the techniques you see change dramatically. There is no tap out with techniques such as mae-otoshi as we are looking to dislocate the elbow NOT throw them forward into a roll or make them tap
@MongoloidNigger you mean ju-jigatame I assume. Seems to be the only technique you guys know, and I'veyet to spar with an mma guy who can do it properly
And now you talk out of your ass. While "Juji Gatame" is the "historically correct term, "Armbar" is the more modernly recognized term and is not incorrect in the least. I use it because I am not a butt sniffing faggot like yourself.
MMA practicioners use it well enough to break each other's arms in competition, something aikido guys are apparently too bitch-shit to do.
@MongoloidNigger Let me guess your your a supreme badass that's been in 1000 street fights & has never lost right, fact of the matter is aikido has been proven on the street it's what the japanese police have trained in officially for years llok it up...
@MongoloidNigger so if a grappler/wrestler grabs his attacker & trys to take him to the ground & he has a knife guess what he's gonna get cut deep, if you don't think so idiot go find someone trained in knife fighting & prove me wrong but let me say it now R.I.P!!!!
@supersevenvictory not sure if serious...but in case you are: it will work exactl the same. simple physics. he comes with more force, that's more force for you to "throw" him. in aikido, we are not using real throws, it's rather "make them fall". breaking their blance.
@partisan72 therefore, in these kind of situations, you can either try to keep your aggressor at bay and get hurt or killed, or in one stroke, enter, restrain and neutralise. of course, it may not succeed and it is always best to run. however, when it comes down to the crunch, you must be decisive and not halfhearted, in the self defence arts, aikido especially, this is taught in its techniques and philosophy. so, don't be eager to fight, but be willing to fight if necessary.
@partisan72 however, because of its size, the knife is restrained by the hand, the hand is the main driver behind the blade, by staying far away and letting the knife go wild and using your bare legs, your legs will be slashed to ribbons. however, go in fiercely, decisively, you may have a chance to restrain the hand and apply a technique like kotaegaeshi or an arm break.
this is some choreographed ballet not a knife attack.Real knife attack is quick as hell and everyone who tries to control the hand with a knife at a close distance will get badly cut for sure.l say,try to hold the knife at a long distance with legs but only if there is a wall behind your back and no escape.lf not, turn around and run like hell or you may end up dead.Close range defense puts you in a life threatening situation.lt's just a fairytale for the demo shows where no real danger exists.
@partisan72 if you use your legs to keep the knife away, you will most likely lose your tendons or your femoral artery quicker than you can say boo. at short distance, especially if you keep the knife close to you, one has better control of the weapon then trying to hold off a knife. a knife's strength is also its weakness, its size, or lack thereof, gives the knife blinding speed and mobility, even in untrained hands, the knife is still deadly.
u can't say whats better, every has its pros and cons. A black belt doesn't mean anything! The point is that the person who is practising has to be good...A friend of mine has got the brown belt and won the tournament with 5.Dan's in it...
@1234561234aa Putting this strange "UFC-standard" aside, Aikido does use Atemi.
In fact, atemi is very essential in aikido. Most of the moves you see, need atemi in order to move you opponent (provoking movements, dodging, blocking, pushing your arm etc.) so you can pull off the throws without being punched into the ground thanks to the momentum or openings you would give him.
This is not so much a topic for beginners, since they mainly have to learn how to throw. But the atemi ARE there.
@HomunculusProject Also do you think the person being thrown would just fall like that? No. I practiced with aikido guys and they taught me some moves, I was "throwing" them left and right. When I went home I asked my friend to attack me while I try the move. I did it but he didn't go anywhere, with resistance aikido is usless.
@SyNFuLCreations 1. You can't just "learn" aikido moves in a day. Did your aikidoka friends do the technique on you? 2. Slight differences will ask for completely different movements and counters. I once asked a teacher to to a technique again and attacked him over and over. Every time he did a different technique. The reason was the slight difference in MY attack. 3. Obviously IRL it would never look as nice as in the dojo. Simply because uke is also learning.
@SyNFuLCreations At the Yoshinkan Hombu Dojo, people spend at least one year of bone breaking training every day (three sessions), six days a week. After this intense training, many enter the Japanese police force. (They also have special courses for them.) And you honestly think, you can learn "some trick" in a couple hours? Honestly, no, you didn't. Aiki is way more complex than that.
@HomunculusProject No, not a couple of hours, over the course of monthes. And I'm not saying some of it will work (the sutff they use in the police force). But the throws and some of the crap in demos is just stupid and won't work against a guy who isn't trained to fall.
@SyNFuLCreations You trained months every day? Sorry, a couple hours a week is nothing.
In aikido you barely train situations, like in many other martial arts. Take taijiquan or wing chun. Pushing hands and sticky hands have barely any direct martial value. But they are essential in understanding how the art works. Same in Aikido. You will do many things, kihon and kata, that you can only used in a modified way. But you need to do them, to understand the workings of aikido.
Nice, but I find your stance a little peculiar. We usually stand very still and upright, while you crouch a bit and move around a lot. I'm not saying that's "not as good" - I'm just saying I find it peculiar.
0:55 he made a mistake, he should use his second hand, to lock his ellbow, and push down, than he can't geth out anymore without breaking his own arm.
@Goldorfin he just pins to show that he is in control of the situation, then gives the attacker another chance. he could easily have finished the opponent in a real - live situation by breaking a wrist or elbow or dislocating a shoulder.
@Goldorfin It's just for show. What use would it have to kill or maim his sparring partner and have a 5 seconds long video? Besides, the whole point of aikido is to hurt the least and seek peace by stopping the violence. It would have been a different story if it were Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu..or something like that
@jverdi this is a true fact.. and at the most in aikido you might break some bones in the hand/wrist or dislocate a shouler/elbow of an attacker =] but im sure that could stop a fight

Much crap in this video. Aikido doesn't require sword distance to work without a sword. In fact, the sword distance in this video makes it look ridiculous.
And here I thought only the music was GAY!!! I dare you to fight anyone in the world like that...including girls and if you attack them like that even they will kick your ass. Who attacks like that, Stevie Wonder?
I'm from a grappling background and years ago ,I had no respect for aikido, Do to sparring with them and getting the upper hand on the ground. Suddenly a friend of mine a aikido artist. Took me to a dojo and I learn all that flying they do, Which I thought was ridiculous is to prevent the breaking of the hands while twisting and some of they're techniques I added into my game.Which by the way is effective. To the martial art world: Don't be afraid to add cream in your coffee. Like MMA.
@XJomac95 the Joke is the MMA fighters that start shit. If Aikido is such a joke then why did the UFC federation take Aikido out??? I'll tell you why, because its too hard to defend. If Aikido was a joke the she samurais wouldn't have used it, and it wouldn't be here today. You're the Joke along with you're MMA fighting. just face it.
@Jovan523 dude your gna love it! aikido is great! dont listen to what anyone has to say about it. that is if it is negative! If it was crap it wouldnt be around!
why the hell are people arguing about wich style is better most of you probably arent even martial artists even if you are you need to have respect for other people's style because a bjj fighter could be easily knocked out by a Thai boxer.
@cannonbulk actually Muay Thai is a martial art its called Muay Thai or Muay Boran just like bokator and Silat kung fu and all those other martial arts
@cannonbulk actually Muay Thai is a martial art its called Muay Thai or Muay Boran just like Bokator and Silat kung fu and all those other martial arts
I've done both arts and can tell that karate lacks some spinning and aikido lacks some kicks and punches... sometimes when you have the other guy almost controlled but still with a small chance of escaping it's hard not to give him that hit that would immobilize him :P
@honzikpen Against two foolish karate guys, yes. When Karate guys take the offensive, they can be tossed by a defensive Aikido guy. A psyche out works well against grappling martial arts, because their whole power comes from their balance and body flow. Get them off for one second, could mean the end.
@honzikpen Well that depends. If the 2 Karate guys have good technique. Then they have a chance. But if the Aikido fighter has a good brain. He can defend Himself. It's how the Fighter thinks and practices. Not about the Martial Art.

MongoloidNigger 5 months ago
@MongoloidNigger Actually the opposite is true. Aikido uses no strength; as a matter of fact, the stronger your opponent the better. It's their speed, weight, and strength that you use, not your own. And yes you may get cut up against a knife, but at least you wouldn't die.
ErieTheUnDead 5 months ago
@ErieTheUnDead
MongoloidNigger 5 months ago
@MongoloidNigger Well that's what practice is for. And you don't have to be strong enough, just fast.
ErieTheUnDead 5 months ago
@ErieTheUnDead
MongoloidNigger 5 months ago
@MongoloidNigger Do you honestly believe it that sheer power is enough to overcome just about anything? Trust me, if I extend your arm, then place my entire weight on yout wrist, you wno't be able to move an inch even if you were to be Silvester Stalonne. As a matter of fact, even a 5 feet tall girl could easily get you immobilized.
Mortifik 5 months ago
@Mortifik
Take it from Bas:
watch?v=-k_uumIQ1uk
MongoloidNigger 5 months ago
@MongoloidNigger You are indeed correct, there IS a reason why no Aikido masters ever take part in MMA competitions. And that is SELF RESPECT. And also respect to Aikido. It goes against Aikido philosophy to use one's knowledge without a purpose. If you wish to learn about effectiveness of Aikido, I'm fairly sure you'll easily find someone willing to spar with you. Oh, and apparently in your Jiu Jitsu practice you didn't learn to respect others very well. Tsk.
Mortifik 5 months ago
@Mortifik
MongoloidNigger 5 months ago
@MongoloidNigger *Sigh*... Loook kid. There are 3 variants of Russian martial arts sambo: sportive, self defense and combat. They all vary in how certain moves are performed. We all know exactly what sportive sambo looks like as it's often seen in MMA. However, VERY few MMA fans have EVER seen a combat sambo master. Now, do you think that combat sambo is never used in MMA because it isn't effective? Lemme give you a hint, by the way. All Russian special agents are trained in combat sambo.
Mortifik 5 months ago
@Mortifik
Quick wiki search provides - "Combat Sambo resembles modern mixed martial arts, including extensive forms of striking and grappling where (unlike Sport Sambo) choking and bent joint locks are legal."
You obviously have no idea what the fuck you are talking about.
MongoloidNigger 5 months ago
@MongoloidNigger I know exactly what combat sambo's like, thank you very much. What I'm saying is that, despite all the simmilarities between combat sambo and MMA, combat sambo masters NEVER take part of MMA competitions. What this means is that one may have various reasons not to serve as a crowd entertainer.
But, this argument seems to lack any point. If you wish to convinse anyone, upload, say, 10 vids of yourself beating different aikido students in a sparring. Then we'll talk.
Mortifik 5 months ago
@Mortifik
MongoloidNigger 4 months ago
@MongoloidNigger Absurd? Just what makes you say that? Also, who has proven aikido to be ineffective, and how? I know, of course, that my opponent in a street fight might be an experienced mat wrestler. What YOU don't understand is that aikido students have some skills in mat wrestling as well. There are a lot of things we can do that aren't shown in promotional vids. Hell, I can do a high kick if I want to. All you have to back up your words is MORE words. You are beginning to bore me.
Mortifik 4 months ago
@Mortifik

MongoloidNigger 4 months ago
@MongoloidNigger apparently youhave an issue with knowing the difference between a combat sport and a martial art. Aikido in sport is nothing more than judo. Aikido outside of sport is against someone who doesn't know ukemi therefore the techniques you see change dramatically. There is no tap out with techniques such as mae-otoshi as we are looking to dislocate the elbow NOT throw them forward into a roll or make them tap

And now you talk out of your ass. While "Juji Gatame" is the "historically correct term, "Armbar" is the more modernly recognized term and is not incorrect in the least. I use it because I am not a butt sniffing faggot like yourself.
MMA practicioners use it well enough to break each other's arms in competition, something aikido guys are apparently too bitch-shit to do.

breedingpitmetal 5 months ago
How about you attack him from the back with a knife and do not give him time to defend himself.
Aikido uses you opponents energy against you.
Any lock-techniques with the combo of muay thai and he is down.
AlekSensej 6 months ago
@partisan72 therefore, in these kind of situations, you can either try to keep your aggressor at bay and get hurt or killed, or in one stroke, enter, restrain and neutralise. of course, it may not succeed and it is always best to run. however, when it comes down to the crunch, you must be decisive and not halfhearted, in the self defence arts, aikido especially, this is taught in its techniques and philosophy. so, don't be eager to fight, but be willing to fight if necessary.
wantonmee23 7 months ago
@partisan72 however, because of its size, the knife is restrained by the hand, the hand is the main driver behind the blade, by staying far away and letting the knife go wild and using your bare legs, your legs will be slashed to ribbons. however, go in fiercely, decisively, you may have a chance to restrain the hand and apply a technique like kotaegaeshi or an arm break.
wantonmee23 7 months ago
this is some choreographed ballet not a knife attack.Real knife attack is quick as hell and everyone who tries to control the hand with a knife at a close distance will get badly cut for sure.l say,try to hold the knife at a long distance with legs but only if there is a wall behind your back and no escape.lf not, turn around and run like hell or you may end up dead.Close range defense puts you in a life threatening situation.lt's just a fairytale for the demo shows where no real danger exists.
partisan72 7 months ago
@partisan72 if you use your legs to keep the knife away, you will most likely lose your tendons or your femoral artery quicker than you can say boo. at short distance, especially if you keep the knife close to you, one has better control of the weapon then trying to hold off a knife. a knife's strength is also its weakness, its size, or lack thereof, gives the knife blinding speed and mobility, even in untrained hands, the knife is still deadly.

@ALL7CAPS not really.
krav maga is more like aikido but only some moves.
krav maga is battlefield testet so its better.
u just cant grab a hand/punch like aikido is showing.
krav maga strikes first then throws.

1234561234aa 9 months ago
@1234561234aa Krav Maga is nothing like aikido, because it misses out on the martial aiki-principle.
Aikido is also "battlefield-tested".
Krav Maga is fine for a soldier, but a small woman can't execute it against a bigger and more experienced man.
In aikido you strike whenever it is needed and throw whenever it is needed.
HomunculusProject 8 months ago
@HomunculusProject i only mean the moves.
like wrist locks and some trows ,reversed standing kimura ( sry only know "kimura" thanks to undisputed ufc. xD )
of course they have different principle´s.
if not they wouldnt call it aikido and krav maga.
and i never saw an aikido instructor saying to hit whenever its needed. i only saw throws after throws after throws but barely hiting the opponent
greets
1234561234aa 8 months ago
@1234561234aa Putting this strange "UFC-standard" aside, Aikido does use Atemi.
In fact, atemi is very essential in aikido. Most of the moves you see, need atemi in order to move you opponent (provoking movements, dodging, blocking, pushing your arm etc.) so you can pull off the throws without being punched into the ground thanks to the momentum or openings you would give him.
This is not so much a topic for beginners, since they mainly have to learn how to throw. But the atemi ARE there.
HomunculusProject 8 months ago
@HomunculusProject Actually one of the most high ranking krav mega experts is a woman. And not that big of one at that.
SyNFuLCreations 8 months ago
@HomunculusProject Also do you think the person being thrown would just fall like that? No. I practiced with aikido guys and they taught me some moves, I was "throwing" them left and right. When I went home I asked my friend to attack me while I try the move. I did it but he didn't go anywhere, with resistance aikido is usless.
SyNFuLCreations 8 months ago
@SyNFuLCreations 1. You can't just "learn" aikido moves in a day. Did your aikidoka friends do the technique on you? 2. Slight differences will ask for completely different movements and counters. I once asked a teacher to to a technique again and attacked him over and over. Every time he did a different technique. The reason was the slight difference in MY attack. 3. Obviously IRL it would never look as nice as in the dojo. Simply because uke is also learning.
HomunculusProject 8 months ago
@SyNFuLCreations At the Yoshinkan Hombu Dojo, people spend at least one year of bone breaking training every day (three sessions), six days a week. After this intense training, many enter the Japanese police force. (They also have special courses for them.) And you honestly think, you can learn "some trick" in a couple hours? Honestly, no, you didn't. Aiki is way more complex than that.
HomunculusProject 8 months ago
@HomunculusProject No, not a couple of hours, over the course of monthes. And I'm not saying some of it will work (the sutff they use in the police force). But the throws and some of the crap in demos is just stupid and won't work against a guy who isn't trained to fall.
SyNFuLCreations 8 months ago
@SyNFuLCreations You trained months every day? Sorry, a couple hours a week is nothing.
In aikido you barely train situations, like in many other martial arts. Take taijiquan or wing chun. Pushing hands and sticky hands have barely any direct martial value. But they are essential in understanding how the art works. Same in Aikido. You will do many things, kihon and kata, that you can only used in a modified way. But you need to do them, to understand the workings of aikido.
HomunculusProject 8 months ago
So I guess like jui jitsu there is no striking in Aikido.
ImpetorNitor 9 months ago
