good book, one of my favorites, she has website and also movies online on youtube taken as documentary at time, she ended working for NASA. key to her sysytem was owning her own home free and clear.
some critics focused on her eating roadkill and overlooked her unique overall response to modern consumerism.
Duane, If you become a truck driver you should do video logs and talk about the people you meet, the places you go or anything interesting. I would totally watch it!
Another excellent video Duane! The book sounds incredibly interesting and it sounds like you've got exciting plans for the future! Looking forward to the next installment! - Adam
No, I don't think I have. I lived off-base at Oceanside when I was in the USMC back in the 1980's. Did a little exploring of other areas in California. Can't remember all the places we went to.
Cool, while my Dad was living in China before he immigrated to Australia, he used to be a truck driver working for the Chinese army. He used to transport a lot of interesting stuff around.
@XDM50 Yes some intersting stories, most of the time it was very routine, other times some of the stuff he used to transport around was really cool (like military rifles, Mosin-Nagants, SKS, and AK-47's, there was also alot of ex-German army rilfes too, like the Mausers). But there were some cases where it was, as the Sergant told him, "don't ask what it is, just transport it".
Good to see you back, Duane.... I enjoyed your EDC update (even if there WASN'T a turtle in it this time) and I don't think I could live off the grid either... Living 15 miles from the nearest gas station and such is enough for me.
i was actually just thinking about this last night... i'd rather not waste my life with a boring job. i would be content living up in like a quiet area of the woods being all self sufficient and stuff. life would be much more intersting, i think so at least. probably more fulfilling, too. then again, i'm not really a materialistic kind of person anyway
Luv the review, I'm going to get my cdl also.. See ya out there on da road Bro! Lol! PEACE!

With the economy in the toilet, and having been that way for years, no wonder a book like that was brought back into print.
I'm likely to pick up a copy soon.
