A neighbor of mine solicited a decoy lady cop. He got hit with a fine, 1 year of probation and now he has to register as a sex offender. Boy, this country sucks!
Second hand smoke is obnoxious. Non-smokers don't like the smell, they don't like the taste, they don't like smelling like smoke after being around it, and they don't like that their throat is scratchy after a night of being in a bar.
And while we're at it, why not outlaw anything that is obnoxious to any other person on this earth? I'm sure that's "fine by you" as well, until it actually affects your life right?
@rapsody The difference is that cigarette smoke is a serious menace to public health. Not only does it cause many diseases of the respiratory and circulatory system, but have some consideration for people with asthma who can't be around such dirty air.
There's no concrete evidence that secondhand smoke is dangerous, only what they loosely call a "scientific consensus"... even though most of the "studies" have been financed by the same groups pushing for these smoking bans and they don't account for the fact that a lot of these diseases could have been caused by other factors... they just automatically attribute them to secondhand smoke. The "B follows A so A caused B" logical fallacy at work.
@rapsody Anytime you inhale smoke in the air you are causing damage to your body. People with sensitive lungs will have trouble breathing around smokers. Plus, I have no sympathy for smokers as they have the most pointless addiction of all. They destroy their bodies and pollute the air smoking a drug that does nothing for them. Smoke pot, dumb asses, at least you will get high!
There are many other pointless addictions besides smoking.. video games, shopping, gambling just to name a few. You are inhaling some form of "toxin" every single time you breathe, they are being spewed into the air as we speak and not from cigarettes.. what makes cigarette smoke especially dangerous from the others you breathe every day?
@rapsody Cigarette smoke is concentrated around other humans and the smoke is particularly acrid. I've been around smokers for years and cannot stand it. Just being close to one cigarette is enough for my lungs to feel dirty for the next 12 hours. It's like, why would you want to be in a room with air that is filled with fine dust particles? Especially if those particles contain known carcinogens...
Simple solution, don't give smoking establishments your business! There have already been bars that went to non-smoking by choice and that's the logical solution to this problem. Have both smoking and non-smoking bars by choice of the owners.. not using force because you feel your health *might* be at risk. That is not how a free society handles issues like this.
I hate to say this, but the reason no one is addicted to second-hand smoke is that the nicotine was already absorbed by the original smoker; the person who gets it second-hand is only getting the smoke.
Banning smoking in bars and restaurants is one law that actually makes sense. I don't care what anyone says. Guys like me would like to sit and relax in a bar a have a beer without choking on a bunch of arrogant redneck fucks blowing thier fuckin' marlboro coffin nails making a think cloud of smoke. Smokers are bunch of crybabies, they can't respect those that don't smoke. Serves you fuckin' right. Keep fuckin' chokin' to an early grave! I still like Doug though, funny som bitch!
@TheOmegaeyes If the bar owners want to allow their patrons to smoke they should be allowed to. I'd say that you're a crybaby because you want the bars to cater to non-smokers. If you're a guest at someones house do you tell them where they can or cannot smoke. It should be up to the bar owner to decide whether or not they'll allow people to smoke, not the government.
@Slipknot808 I would agree with that. At the same token I still agree with the law, go the fuck outside and smoke. It's your choice to be stupid enough to risk your health and blacken your lungs in the first place. I have friends that smoke and one of them is no longer my friend for that reason, he can't be fuckin' repectful enough to keep the shit out of my face and at least blow it away from me. The bar owner isen't losing anything by this law because it stands for every establishment.
@TheOmegaeyes I believe that the owner of a bar should be free to allow people to smoke perfectly legal cigarettes in his bar and that the law should not force him to send people outside to smoke. If you don't like cigarette smoke you can find a bar that agrees with your position. The fact that you stopped being friends with someone because they smoke means you probably weren't friends. That's not a valid argument. If you got pissy about people smoking in my bar I'd kick you out.
@Slipknot808 Like I said, I agree with that. It should be up to the owner of said establishment but you can't promote overall public health when you have owners of places like that that hold that opinion. If the bar owner had half a brain he'd be more concerned about his own health not breathing in 2nd hand smoke every day/night. Plus the fact that he'd be losing non smokers buisness. If you're too lazy to walk outside and light up there, that's your problem. Inconvenience is a bitch ain't it?
@TheOmegaeyes Yes, smoking bad, alcohol good. Public health is not the issue. If you don't want to breath second hand smoke don't go into bars that allow smoking. If it hurts his bottom-line he'll change his mind voluntarily. Choice is the issue here. Promote health by persuasion, not force. The law is a terrible place to promote health. The best place to start with that is removing government subsidies of big tobacco, not forcing people to change their habits. Freedom requires choice.
@TheOmegaeyes thats why there used to be non-smoking sections and some bars only had a small smoking section. pussies like you had to claim the whole bar and 20 ft outside the door and pretty much everywhere indoors else except a smoke shop or private residence. because you dont like the smell. if you're so worried about getting cancer from secondhand air pollution, why not ban driving in los angeles. i'm sure non-drivers don't appreciate breathing in that disgusting carcinogenic smog.
@theoryofeverything90 Uh oh, internet toughguy alert. You're exactly the type of ignorant fuck I'm talking about. YEAH I don't like the smell or health risks that go along with smoking but the law still stands dosen't it? Keep crying and sucking toxins and perpetuating the monopoly of the cigarette industry. It's your health buddy, have fun with that lung cancer, emphysema and cell degeneration of slow death;-)
@TheOmegaeyes so anyone who disagrees with you on youtube is automatically tough and ignorant? as well as crying? your comments are just ridiculous. Anyways, yes the law still stands, and I still stand against the law. No tears for me, just thick clouds of smoke. and hey, we all got to end a miserable, meaningless life with an even more miserable and meaningless death, so it might as well be cancer and emphysema. just remember that i might still be alive for decades after you kick the bucket :)
@theoryofeverything90 Anyone who agrees that smoking cigarettes has any value or benifit what so ever is ignorant, yes. What possible enjoyment does anyone get out of paying $8 a pack to slowly cut of oxygen from every cell in their body and brain? At least if you're smoking weed you get something out of it, a creative edge a nice euphoria, appetite, making food taste better, music sound better, making you laugh. Name one thing good coming from smoking a cigarette.
@TheOmegaeyes It's ignorant to say it doesn't provide any enjoyment. If there were no pleasant effects from smoking tobacco people wouldn't have been doing it for so long, especially given that today's tobacco products only contain a small fraction of the nicotine that used to be present in the tobacco that was used originally. Nicotine does produce physical and psychological relaxation. For some people it also improves concentration. Pot, the kettle is on the phone, he has a message for you.
@Slipknot808 Well, seeing as I am an ex smoker myself in retrospect, only thing I got out of it was an addition to nicotine. I would'nt really say that I enjoyed it much except for the methol flavor a little bit. I would challange you to provide me any document that says there's less nicotine in todays cigarettes. Even if thats true which I'm sure it's not most of the shit you end up with in your ciggs is reconstituted tabacco swept up from the floor of the factory, many brands treated with.....
He's right about prostitution. 1. Lie to a girl, pay for this and that, buy her this and that so she'll fuck you. 2. Pay a girl directly to have her fuck you.
What's the difference? The latter option can't be taxed to give more money to Big Brother.
