  • woah,that bike sounds angry.

  • espectacular

  • Wat a pointles video i was hoping the c*nt would blow the engin up silly pr*ck

  • Comment removed

  • why rev the piss out of it right on start up?(really, does it have a purpose?) i understand that it is a race bike meant to be rebuild often, but still. at least give the oil a chance to circulate.

  • @turtlemann14 Not revving the shit out of it, just warming up. This is very normal.

2 Strokes don't like idling for a long time.

  • @lowljoren ? you do know that these are both four strokes right?

  • @turtlemann14 They dont have an idle circuit and the only way to keep the engine from loading up and stalling out is to keep revving them up and down. It sounds like they are revving the crap out of it, but really they aren't when you consider the red line is around 20,000rpm and they are revving to maybe 6 or 8000rpm

  • I want one as well. but I think the startup is much more cool when you have 2 little japanese guys in white jumpsuits and ball caps push start you. Do they come with the bike?

  • OK, can someone please tell me why they aren't making bikes like these anymore? This has got to be the best 4-stroke motorcycle video on Youtube!

  • Ca ne vaut rien à côté d'une Guzzi 500 huit cylindres ou d'une Benelli 4 500

  • is he twisting the throttle forwards to make it rev? :S

  • @SirVladDracula no he is pulling it back to make it rev its the bike noise maken the mic on the video lagg out!!!

  • @petewasere2000 Okay then! =3

    I can do science, me.

  • where can i get one? :)

  • @z33twinturbo ebay , google it, or dream about it id love 1 me haha

  • esto es una sinfonia para mis oidos, gracias por subirlo.

  • Why the hell did Mosses deside to come down the hill riding a Triumph when he couldve rode one of these!!??

  • ho capito il motore gira bene ma non troppo , ma la sai guidare?

  • dont want to sound like all other honda multi fans but thats awsome really love the sound of that 250 6 there isnt anything ellse like it ever. would love to see it myself atleast one of the survivours doing a lap or too!!!

  • I think what makes the whole Hailwood / Honda relationship crazy is that Mike won using clearly inferior handling Hondas! I have no idea what vintage of Honda this is, but it looks a lot newer than the first Honda 250 Mike won on (did I mention meaner?).

    Mike the Bike forever!

  • @passie29

I've got an RC-51...and I'd just sit my ass down when this little bike showed up in my mirror...this things sounds evil!

  • Beetje loos gas geven... gaat er nog gereden worden of niet?

  • I love how it takes a full team of mechanics just to start a bike. Just shows how focused these bikes were.

  • what a ring tone

  • Just the sound of these gets my adrenaline pumping, what must it be like to ride them?!! If you don't get your adrenalin stoked then I have bad news for you; you're dead. Great vid, thanks.

  • The 250 and 297cc sixes were probably the most incredible sounding bikes of all time!

I saw them in full-on action for the first time at the 1968 Brands Hatch meeting and I couldn't believe my ears!

  • Definitely NOT something streetable!

  • they sound like animals ! love it :D

  • They also have no idle circuits in the carbs.

  • I think its funny that croch rocket guys trash talk there own kind, lol. I am a car guy but this thing is cool, you can't compare a race bike to a road bike so why bother. these old 2 strokes sound amazing when they flying by at full throttle.

  • @ORIANA250 Sorry mate, but these ain't two strokes, all 4 strokes and that includes the 125 5cyl, this was developed from the 50cc twin cylinder, hence 5 cylinders for the 125, all verifiable on the net if you look. :))

  • is anyone making a replica? how do you find something like this

  • @5959512 you won't find any of these bikes, Honda have them all, and no replicas, there are no parts to make them from, they are so unique

  • @leyburnhealeyman There are replicas.

  • @leyburnhealeyman Not true, Honda asked George Beale to make a replica of the 6 as they did not have one in their museum in Tokyo. He made 6, each casting 200.000 sterling, the engines were built by GPX in Le Mans in France, I met the young engineer who pressed the rollerbearing cranks together, they wanted to go with modern shell bearings but could'nt make a one piece crank that would work reliably, he reckoned it was like balancing 13 pool balls on top of another!

  • I will the exhaust =P

  • พ่ออยู่ในท่อหราสัส

  • think i,m gonna make a four into six pipe with mega,s for my r1

  • In response to Malalo's comment about idling, they DON'T, most racing machines don't have idle circuts in the carbs, especially these "vintage" racers. Gotta keep blipping them just to keep them running.

  • Yes indeed these bikes were so fast that most people could not handle them. I absolutely loved the 2 strokers of yesteryear. My first experience was on a RD 350 which I could not keep on the ground. Put that 6cylinder motor in a modern frame with state of the art brakes and I do believe that nothing in today's market could touch it.

  • They never think of idling for engine!

  • @MrMAHALO178 these engines won't idle, they don't have proper flywheels, and that works wonders for the pick up and achieving high rpm.

  • i sure dont wanna start this in early morning.

  • I wish it were true that these old fossils could be faster on a track than a modern 600/1000 supersport motorcycle but it just isn't. Time and technology moves on. However, I would not classify these bikes as 'shit'. Fantastic pieces of technology and the pinnacle of engineering in their time. In a way, I'm a little surprised that they still exist. Lots of times, old racers are pushed to the back of the garage and forgotten then sold for scrap.

  • If the rider over-reved the enging most of the valves got intermingled, they were normally sprung valves, not desmo. The mechanics changed the engine in 10 minutes flat, I saw it.

  • The RC166 gave me an eargasm

  • 2 or 4t?

  • @LolzMan7756 4 stroker matey ;) 18000rpm on the 250 and 24000 rpm on the 125 5cyl

  • the singing honda

  • Joku kopsu..

  • This sound is better than some "speeding mosquitos" :P

  • 5 People dislike this????

  • @L3g4cyTT

Yeah, the like the awful sound af the Harley better. Fa-Lump, fa-lump, fa-lump.

  • why would he rev it like that ?

  • @Dualshock21 its a race bike with incredibly small pistons... 6 to be exact.. 5 even smaller ones on the 125... higher res = more power.. which is why they were banned

  • phllmac123. these engines have no flywheels hence instant engine stop ,let the revs drop and they can cut out on you.they will not tick over.

  • Awesome!

  • the sound of good old times. golden ages.

  • Awesome sound !

    Honda rocks ! :o)

  • super badass! i want one, my neighbors don't though

  • @danthemanzizzle I have a motorized bike too, among other motorcycles and scooters. I have the same engine as you do in yours. Mine does 52kph (31mph)

  • @danthemanzizzle hahahaha, you'd rather have a ten a penny R6 than this absolutely priceless piece motorcycle racing history. This is an absolute legend, unlike the ten a penny, dime a dozen R6.. But to each his own, it takes all sorts.

    Nuff said.

  • @danthemanzizzle You're an idiot then

  • does the RD161 (four cylinder) has a special crankshaft ? it sounds really differend like ''normal'' 4 inlines of that time like the CB750 or a Suzuki GS750 etcetera...

Or is it just the megaphone exhausts...

  • @NielsMF these engines have no flywheels, hence instant engine cutoff when stopped

  • OMG i think i just cum in my pants...thats fucking awesome sound, id sooner have this bike over any new bike on the market today :)

  • The hayabusa is the ugliest turd of a bike ever! ridden by people who can only go fast in a straight line

  • if carlsburg made motorcycles the honda six would be it

  • 4 stroke sound

  • only downfall of this video is 99% of it is just looking at the back of the tailpipes and tire. lol nice way to jumpstart a bike tho in the beggining with the car lol

  • fuck ya id take that bike over a busa any day... an old school classic badass bike liek that over a dime a dozen squid machine busa

  • Have you ever heard of a tripod? They're really nifty little items, and they avoid the kind of "broken-neck" video we got here.

  • I think the Busa CAN beat these oldies...

    In a straight road:D

  • Damn that sounds bad ass, like an F1 car! Wonder what the redline is on these little screamers!?!?

This would be my next choice after a cbx for an extreme cafe racer build.

  • @BigBassTurd from what i remember the redline is somewhere between 16000-17000

  • @monty900ss

    22000

  • @nitrogeb 22000 on the 125.. 17000 on the 250

  • @gbwilding

    8200 on my 57 dominator.

    not quite the same hey..

  • The sound wtf?

  • SOUNDS LIKE HELL !!

  • Sorry, but a Huyabusa just does't do it for me. Just an ugly rocket. This Honda 6 cylinder is a machine to be proud of and cherish. I bet in 50 years this will still be remembered as it was 50 years ago. Truely remarkable Honda engineering.

  • THIS IS THE EVIL SCREAMING

  • da first few minutes are da biggest waste of time i've ever encountered on youtube, he just sits there revving the engine for like 2 minutes

  • By the way, is this an inline 6, v6 or some kind of "star" motor, or a flat 6?

  • @eamh2002 strait six, same as the cbx jsut smaller

  • @eamh2002 inline 6

  • Funny to hear the old single banger plod by at 27 and then hear the fabulous Honda burst into life.

  • lol at the busa comments, i'd rather ride a mini moto, more rpms and more chance of getting the knee down hehe

  • anyone know why they keep it at high revs and not at idle?

  • those old race bikes didn't like to idle.

  • they dindnt idle because they had no flywheel. keeps weight down.

  • @wingking077 Racing bikes didn't Idell they had no pilot jets in the carburetors and the power band was so narrow running on open megaphone exhaust you had to keep it revving so as to not go into a stole. A very fast beautiful machine to ride and angled superbly. And To JTV84 If I took you on the Honda 6 you'd crap your self

  • @wingking077

Idle speed for a six is around 10,000 rpm with peak power around 18.000 rpm. They wont idle below that.

  • This was built back with Mr. Sochiro Honda was running the show. He was an old racer, and he was HEAVILY involved in building race bikes. He completely dominated everything at that time.

  • I want that 125cc bike ! :O

  • Hair dryer...

  • why did they do so many cyl. for a relatively small displacement?

  • The greater the number of cylinders for a given displacement, the smaller the pistons, connecting rods and valves. The smaller these engine components are, the less mass they have, so the engine can rev higher. The higher the revs, the greater the power! Honda engineering of the the 1960s: brilliant!

  • I guess they learned a lot from the guzzi V8 they bought from Italy in the late 50s

  • jigibao & suxyrulz!!!

what planet u from??? no busa will ever sound as good as that!!!

  • If I remember, these engines revved to 15,000 maybe 20,000 RPMs. This was done with carbs and points, no fuel injections, micro-processors, variable valve timings, etc. Therefore,a stable idle was 'difficult' to tune for. There was no flywheel effect either, so if you had combustion cycle-to-cycle varability during idle, a single misfire could nearly stall the engine, Closing the throttle would also cause the engine to decelerate suddenly, almost to the point of stalling.

  • @sae1080

    18K 'redline' I believe.

    Awesome.

  • These machines represent a big big breakthru in MC engine design at the time. When you have 6 cylinders totaling 250cc (45cc per cylinder) you have to be very very carefull about the accumulated parasitic drag of all the bearings, windage losses, lube (adequate, no excess), ring frictions, alignment of crank bore and perpendicularity of cylinder bores to crank etc etc. jeez my mind staggers at the engineering of this pioneering effort and attention to detail.

  • fookin hell...i can see my dads eyes misting over as we speak

  • this motorbike is made for pure evil, this is made to kill, to press to the limit, if i got my finger in to one of those i would press them to the MAXIMUM

  • that sound still scares me to this day and I'm 24!!

  • id much rather have one of these than a bulky hayabusa!!

  • stupid thing to say,i have busa 09 white, gray, blue and this is joke for busa........

  • i didnt say a busa wasnt faster, but its def not unique due to the fact that every credit card maxing newb has one...this kind of bike gets respect from the 2 wheel community where as a hayabusa is just another "turn key punk" that doesnt slide knee and just rides strait

  • that is a wery stupid statement....... busa is the maxum of technology and is THE ULTIMATE MACHINE TO RIDE i dont know why some people think that stupid old design bikes are "something special"?? i have had yamaha rd350lc end after many broke downs in short period of time, when she lose the olie from engine and grease my back tyre then a sad FUCK THIS OLD SHITT and that is what it is......i feel pitty for you...

  • i am soooo sorry that not everyone agrees with your one eyed point of view.

  • look i find that every kind of motorbike have something special but some people are so one direction if you get my drift...and i belive that old things belong to past...ciao.

  • LOL m8 u are stupid...this bike is old and have only 250 CC and busa have hmm 1300? and this is a monster compare to the CC and it has 6 cylinders omfg?:D busa have only 4...:D and this is 250cc...

  • i didnt compare busa with this bike....someone else pull my tong....i like two stroke but more cc....like kawasaki 750 two stroke....bomb...

  • i bet 1000$ that this "old shit" beats you and your busa at the racetrack.. really it will kick your arse so hard that you will be ashamed for the rest for your life calling this great machine OLD SHIT..

  • i didnt call this old shitt, but just say old bikes belong to past.dont get upset that you dont know better...ciao

  • jigibao, you're just plain stupid if you actually believe that..... go take your neon'ed out busa riding ass somewhere else

  • actualy i did drive races with water cooled yamaha 250cc in 1981,1982,1983.. the engine minimum rpm were +-3000rpm,and top was 16-18,000rpm so i know what im talking about....my bike was from 1976 and it head one disc brake in front and drum behind, two cilinders and dry clutch out of case...crazy machine,BUT technilogy past this one by...i like to see them and "smell+hear"them but it this the thing of the past......

  • ahhh, i thought you were talking shit on old bikes, I'm sorry I jumped to conclusions so quickly. I had a 1988 FZR400 that was fully built, that thing would embarrass bigger bikes all day. Still miss that bike, about as close to an F1 sound as I'll ever be able to have again.

  • yep it will

  • @passie29 iagree with you totally well said!!

  • @jigibao The reason that there is still an interest in these machines years after they were manufactured is because they were the technical pinnacle of that era for four strokes and they are special in a way a Bussa never can be. Honda then withdrew from the world championships; two strokes dominated thereafter.

However good a Bussa is it won't be remembered for being a pioneering motorcycle, it's an overweight, over powered pig of a machine for fat, stupid riders who don't know how to ride.

  • ha ha ha ha ha ,you are lucky my brother dont live close to you,if you would say to him he would brake your jaw ...ha ha ha for me its okay...cheers from jigibao....

  • @jigibao lmao.........no in fact your brother and I would sit down together and have a beer and talk about our love of bikes (despite the fact that you or he owns a pig of a one). Perhaps also discuss that Italy has produced not only some of the best and most beautiful looking bikes but some of the greatest art, architecture and music and of course Ago and now Vali. Ciao bello.......lol

  • aaahhh did you try new busa??? realy its a superbike...it is highway monster...and me,im happy with my "black gsx1200 inazuma"...cheers...

  • @jigibao no man my biking days sadly came to and end in my twenties. I remember when the first busa was unleashed and nobody could believe anything that fast could be allowed on the road. Nowadays I like especially race bikes and historic bikes.

  • i use to race yamaha 250 special two stroke twin engine,it have head drum brakes in front and back and engine rew far above 16,000rpm... after race i was deaf for week.. i know the feeling...sadly many of my "good and bad"friends die because bad brakes, bad tyres, bad roads....jea what to say....last two stroke i have head was yamaha rd350lc...elsie...

  • Nice bike the the RD250, I used to race a highly modified Suzuki GT250, it was a great bike for someone learning the craft of road racing but like all bikes of the time, it was compromised by the poor tyre technology.

  • jea tell me abaout it,tyres were more "plastic then rubber" and only police could afford "metzeller".. i was driving on bold old tyres...was more slipping then riding...what to say, poor country poor parents..ah it is past...i sold my rd250lc"modified 350lc two years ago whan after drive i feal my back tyre slippin? when i stoped at home i see engine spit out oil on my back tyre, then i say ENAUGH AND GOODBYE...

  • @jigibao they r 4t

  • Yeaa, nevermind that this Honda is worth 20x more than any Hayabusa, even with the 20ft extended 24kt gold platinum diamond encrusted double chromed swingarm that comes with every busa nowadays. Busas are ok, but they've become the Honda Civic of the motorcycle world. Long live Honda Motorcycles, and this AWESOME piece of machinery!

  • the japanese are insane

  • Green plate = 250

    Black Plate= 125

    Blue Plate- 350

  • The first Bike is a 250 4 cylinder!

no fifth exhaust under the seat.. und a white number on green paper... that means 250ccm.

The other one is the 250 six

  • first bike is 5 cyl.......

  • No, it's an inline-four.

  • libidine!!!!!!!

  • start it like you run it!

  • That my freind is a 4 STROKE

  • 2 stroke?

  • 4 stroke.

  • this amazing sound

  • I was there when they raced these bikes in the 1960s against Yamaha twins and fours, Benellis, Aermacchis, MZs. and others. Music to the ears !.

  • Thats gota be the most bad ass 250 I've seen... Wonder how much it cost em to build it. :P

  • いい音です。60年代にこんなバイクが存在していたのもすごいですが、聴くことが叶わないと思っていたRCサウンドを聴けたのも嬉しい!

    good job!

  • this is 2stroke right ?

  • Nope 4 stroke, sounds incredible don't it?

  • 4 stroke

  • 4 stroke.

  • It's time to watch my video Honda XRM RS, thanks.

  • Being older I saw the Honda 125cc, 250cc and 500cc raced live.

I watched the duels between Hailwood on the Honda's and Agostini on the MV's, then there were the likes of John Cooper, Phil Read and not for getting Percy Tate on the Triumph's then there was things like the Owen Greenwood Special I wonder how many people remember that. Great days

  • 18astra:

There's one here for a start! I'd pay money to be able to hear the Mini Special again (maybe). There was a meeting at Oulton where, after the press "Hailwood only wins because he's on Honda" tirade, he jumped on a Seeley Matchless and still ran rings round the opposition. Wish I could hear the Matchless again too.

  • It seems that only one other viewer picked that the 125 was a four cylinder not five. I have the sounds of TT on the Duke video, History of the TT. These sounds were originally sold on a casette audo tape in about 1970 and the commentator from 1957 - 1967 was Murray Walker before he went to F1.

  • made in japan

  • goerge4 your lucky that I don't live next to you----you like the sound only in a 9-5 day???? or on you computer---I would give you a chorus of 883cc-1000cc -90cc-150cc-400cc until you became friends or moved :);):)you talk about your neighbor getting a fine and mufflers is this your idea of a good citizen, your a ???

  • RESPECT!

  • Awesome noice!!!

  • OMG this thing sounds so f*cing awesome!!

  • xcelent

  • da esch doch en japaner gösel losed lieber mol en ducati oder so!!!

  • 3 words, fucking amazing dude !

  • 精密な獣・・・!

  • the only what I am missing on this vid. is the heroe Mike the bike Hailwood. This man and the Honda six are ( were ) one unit! At at last ( "ceterum censeo..." ) my greatest wish in life is, that silencers on motorbikes (also street-Motos ) should be forbidden! Especially on fourstrokes a silencer is a sin!!!!

  • are you nuts?? we've got a moron in my Neighborhood that started his Harley straightpipe at 6 in the morning during the summer..he woke up everyone around..

we got sick and tired of it and he finally got a fine and put a muffler..

how would you like if i'd start a bike with no muffler besides your opened bedroom window while you;'re sleeping?

i don't mind for racing ..as a matter of fact, i enjoy the noise they make..but not in a city..it would make it unbearable..

  • Comment removed

  • Hi, can you write any louder? I can´t understand you:-)

In Germnay we say : Is it too loud, than you´re too old.

Btw. We talk about motorcycles. Harley are no motorcycles. They are lorries on two wheels.

Maybe you´re right and I´m nuts. But surely I am not political correct , Mr. "Spießbürger" ( let it translate to you )

  • hehe.. desmo..that's ducati

and you're right.. Harleys are slow..bad brakes..

  • man this is what gets my blood boiling, I luv it!!!

  • that sounds soo amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!
