First, in the english version, the way they speak is much more "medieval". So it sounds a bit poetic compared to the jap. version. And then there are a few changes in the script, such as those:
JPN: Wylfred says nothing after seeing his sacrificed friends.
US: Wylfred: "Show me no illusions!"
JPN: Before the battle begins, Lenneth remains silent "...".
I don't see how giving them a "medieval" vocabulary is a bad thing. It only serves to spice up an otherwise dry script.
Adding things in when they say nothing isn't a bad thing either; it's been done in localizations before; and once again, it only serves to make the script more interesting than just a boring straight translation.
I don't understand your second post though. They're basically saying the same thing.
The lack of full voice overs is a shame, but that isn't really an issue of translation. Voice acting costs money, and most portable games (or at least ones on the DS) usually don't have full voice acting in the first place. It's not really such a big deal considering the work they put into the script and the nice voice acting during battle.
Actually it's not a bad change for me (rather I like that exalted style xD), but IMO the changed/new lines impart to the characters some different traits and properties. That was my point ^^
But anyway, It's not a big deal... It feels just kinda weird for me after playing the japanese version.
And yea, such a pity, but considering that Squareenix is the publisher (which have no money problems at all, I guess), I was excepting a full localization...but one cannot have everything, right? ^^
@ladynikkie ALSO, All that Final Fantasy money they make and can't make better graphics?!?
If you look at Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy, they had really good graphics. I felt that they weren't even trying on this one. They remake alot of KH games and they can't remake an awesome Valkyrie Profile game?
I guess the timeline is
Ending C-Lenneth is "Restarted"-Valkyrie Profile Happens then Comes the Sequel

holy shit i thought the B ending where his father goes to hell was the worst one o.O

Nope. Its probably , you merely have to have a conscience and not sack your allies. Its the best ending. You CANT use the plume at all though.

The "real" ending is whichever one you want it to be. All of them don't really affect the VP timeline significantly.

oh its here already...hahahahaha
what a shame...ending...

just got this ending :P
Redfoxe 2 years ago
i think is other WORST ending
the game allows the Destiny Plume to be used a finite number of
times. The maximum allowance differs from Path to Path and Chapter to
Chapter. If the Destiny Plume is used too many times, the game will end
abruptly with defeat of Wylfred in a special Event.

The weirdest translation I ever saw oO
This one is much different from the japanese version.
Anyway thx for uploading!

And then in jpn. ver. the whole conversation with Ailyth goes like this:
A: "Lord Wylfred..."
W: "You, you knew that?! You knew that the battle maiden is immortal"
A: "So what? However a contract is a contract. Come, Nifleheim awaits us."
W: *laugh* bla bla...
there are a bit more than that lines, especially in the A Ending.. but I dunno, it sounds like a "fake" for me ^^
and yeah ladynikkie, the lack of voice overs is almost like a final straw. xD

@CaribbeanStreak There's no doubt this game was low-budget, but keep in mind this is made by tri-Ace, and isn't a remake.
ZeromusX 10 months ago
@ZeromusX Huh? How is it made by Tri-Ace?
At the beginning of every VP game, it always says Square Enix.
I'm confused.
CaribbeanStreak 10 months ago
@CaribbeanStreak
tri-Ace are the developers, Square Enix are the publishers.

@ZeromusX Oh. Well, okay.

"A: "So what? However a contract is a contract. Come, Nifleheim awaits us."
W: *laugh* bla bla..."
Could you be specific with what you mean by the "blah blah"? I'm very curious as to the difference here between these two versions.
