@BrianM1 it's to save his voice. He uses this song as a way to give his voice a break (which is why he doesn't sing much of it and doesn't sound quite right) during the show and still entertain the audience. He does it a lot, in fact if you search Bird of Happiness, you'll find a lot of instances where he's singing in a lower key or having girls dance with him on stage, but he never includes the high key in the beginning.
