  • Eargasm...

  • its an amazing bike i loved the test ride i had it is by no means gutless it was breathtakingly awesome, so was the s1000rr and the 1098r but i would still take desmosedici any day. i am biased though i have 3 ducati. hopefully one day i will have the RSV4 and the S1000rr in my collection,

  • @36psi Not yet but I am sure I will very soon. I might actually get to sample the new V4 Tuono too in Sept. I am also very interested to ride and test the NEW Ducati short stroke superbike, aka, Ducati's worst kept secret ever!

  • @36psi All manufacturer's lie out their asses about power and weight. Take one for a ride, call it gutless afterwards. It is by far more exciting to ride than the Desmosedicci and the S1000rr. More exciting than a 1098r, not really that is one exciting bike! BTW, those make about the same power, a little less actually in most cases. Even a dead stock BUSA makes about the same to a little less power on my dyno. Go to Factory Pro's website for explanation of my dyno's readings.

  • I don't know if you know this but the word written in Arabic on your shirt is khaffir which pretty much means atheist.

  • Yes, I know the word, I think a more modern interpretation might be "Infidel"? Where are you from? My shirt is a poke at my own nation for our foreign policy.

  • @MicahShoemaker It's often translated that way but that doesn't really make sense. Infidel means unfaithful by the obsolete meaning of the word faith which is more accurately translated to modern English as loyalty then as belief. An infidel thus is someone who has no fidelity towards or has betrayed a particular religion, perhaps by leaving it, etc. Believe me, while most people may translate Khaffir thus it really does make more sense as Atheist or Adeist.

Also I am a native American.

  • Right on, honestly thanks for the education. Where did you learn your Arabic? Impressed I am. I guess the shirt still fits "me" but I appreciate the clarification.

  • @MicahShoemaker The Navy put me through the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, and that's where I learned Arabic.

  • Well, you obviously were a good study. If ever I have time again to do languages Arabic is high up on my list. You an RSV4 owner? I guess I just need to worry about my Spanish since this time next week I will be perched up on the side of a Volcano in Central America with a few cameras...

  • @MicahShoemaker Nope. I'm a fan but I don't have $20K to drop on a track toy. I hope to be someday though. What are you doing down in Central America? Just touring?

  • Vacation and photography trip. Taking the family down to Arenal area of Costa Rica so I can spend some time photographing lightning from the Pacific storms as it comes over Arenal, hopefully in 9 days getting that one "magic" shot of Cloud to Ground Lightning or visa versa from the Volcano's cone to the sky. Also the normal stuff, zip lines, ultralight planes, hot air ballooning and bungee jumping...

  • i think...... i think i just eargasmed

  • thanks MicahShoemaker, hehe..

  • Ever since I saw the Aprilia Rsv4 Factory It makes my heart beat so fast that I really want to buy one. Whats the Difference between the Rsv4R and Rsv4F?

  • RSV4 Factory has Ohlins fork and shock, forged aluminum wheels, carbon fiber instead of plastic accents, variable height velocity stacks. The R model is the base model. It has Showa Forks, set length intake stacks, cast wheels and a Sach's rear shock. Hope this helps. There are some great deals out there on both models, the factory is perfect with nothing other than a pipe and re-flash of the ecu though!

  • the v4 engine note makes the inline 4 s sound like they re kids who need some discipline. There s something very eargasmic bout the v4 s .

  • Surprising but reassuring engine sound! Like faster! faster!, I know nothing about Aprilia's.

  • Sorry for asking, but I am looking in buying either an R1 or an R6, but now I think I am in love with the RSV4. Can anyone tell me which one is the best between the R1 and the Aprilia? Please don't be influenced by what you own. Also I would really like to know what is the story behind the Aprilia's clutch. Don't you need to use the clutch to make gear changes ? Either up shifts or downshifts? If so what is the case with the R1 and the R6 ? I would be grateful if I could get some answers. Thanx

  • @nauttyuk I have had a '06 triumph 675 and now have a '09 gixxer 600 :( powerband sucks compared the the 675 anywyas i typically never use the clutch for gear changes just release. whatever you ride i am pretty sure yo dont HAVE to use the clutch either

  • @nauttyuk You don't need the clutch for upshifts. The Aprilia has a slipper clutch which handles the downshifts without locking up the back wheel.

Don't know what you're used to riding, but the R1 has bugger all engine braking. Can really catch you out if you're not expecting it.

Best advice I could give is to get some test rides booked and make your own mind up.

  • can i ask what did it make......you say putting to rest the rumor in the comments but i dont see any numbers anywhere.....sorry just inquiring

  • My dyno, which at this level reads about 17-18% lower than the far more common dynojet dyno recorded right at 145 bhp, add 17% to get the "industry standard" of magazine type of number.

  • Oh my god that sounds f'n amazing.

  • Ever had an RSV4 blow up its motor on you? I saw at the dealership that the motors are on recall because either the con rods or crank go boom.

  • Not even running at the Texas Mile, the dragstrip or at track days. We have one dedicated race bike RSV4 factory too. Aprilia paid well for dealers to replace all early engines with newer engines with more precisely machined connecting rod big ends.

  • I don't like the Leo Vince exhaust at all, to be honest I think it looks ugly, I'd prefer the original over that.. In my opinion the Akrapovic or the Austin Racing exhausts look and sound the best for the RSV4. But in the end it doesn't really matter, it's still a dream bike no matter what exhaust... Maybe someday..

  • Leo was what we had in stock, the Akro pipes (slip on) are still at least a month out and the owner of this bike eventually got the full system from Akro but has not been back yet to dyno the bike again. When it is time for a new rear tire I am sure it will be going back up on the roller for another spin.

  • If Canada had been so messed up by Piaggio and they weren't trying to gouge me $9,000 difference between the U.S. model and the Canadian one, I'd own one. Right now.

    Way to go, Piaggio.

  • I know what I was told. I also heard 27,995 from another interested rider at the track, but not directly from a dealer. No lie here, I think the dealers in Canada are scrambling to figure out if they even deal Piaggio anymore.

  • The world's beautiful bike!

  • My RSV4-R finally arrived today...in white! It is the AF1 demo bike but you can bet your ass some tuning action and fun are coming. Akro full system on order...mmmm...tasty bits!

  • lucky luck man!!

  • Hot damn. I will have one...

  • @casmitherz Riding the bike with ANY pipe will make you lust after Aprilia's newest sport bike unlike you have lusted after anything since college probably!

  • I ride a very humble RS125...but I still love it to death and am so proud of it :)

My first bike(not counting my moped)...bought it used with my own money that I saved up/earned,no parents or anyone involved :)

Saw the RSV4 once on a racing event, unlucky for me it was in the run in period so no revs past 4k :( ...but at least I can say I saw a factory RSV4 and talked to the owner! :)

  • Not Good looks big/ugly

  • I like it Rich but, style is just a subjective thing really. I always liked the "functional" look and have never fallen in love with the Moto GP look of many modern cans but, once again, subjective thing and I freely confess to being rather "old school" when it comes to these things. Hell I still prefer throttle cables doing them what I ask down at the butterflies but, this does not mean that the modern world will fall in line with my wishes. When I get my personal RSV4 I may make it mine.

  • Yep i hear what you say i just find it very old fashioned looking and not right for the bike, like you say everyone has a different look on things
