How long did it take the whole trip? can you tell me your start, reach the peak, and finish times?, I'm planning to go up on march 18 (thursday) I need all info you can give me. I'm from el paso tx. no experience with this mountain or the surroundings
We did the whole trip in 13 hours. It took 7 to get to the summit and under 6 to get back. We had a lot of stops to mess around and take pictures. It would be done quicker than that. I've run it in under 6 hours, but that is hard. Distance varies based on who you talk to. according to the guide book, summitpost, and maps it appears to be 12.2, so about 24ish round trip.
We approached from Henry's Fork. Its pretty much the standard route.

Cool video. Is that Band of Horses? Scott directed me to the video so I could have some info--I'm doing the 1 day King's Peak hike in two days.

The band is Wedge. They are a great little techno band, most of their songs don't even have lyrics.
I do dig Band of Horses, now that you mention it though. They would have been good on there too.
