that's a cool way of doing it, If you had the racks on the shaft and a motor on the elevator itself, you might have (if you had geared the motor right) been able to do it with one motor or two (one on each side) instead of three. However, this method appears to work just as well and is also somewhat simpler.
dude dont critisize some one because he has a wierd voice, you have no gratitude towards over people, and his just a kid lol no need for the insults because he can build something you cant.
or better you could make a whole lego mall and that could be the elevator if you decorate it check out my channelo I built a lego robot and it shows pics from the compitition
OH my god im so gonna get into this lego robotics thing :D. Fuck me..! If i get a touch sensor i can train the damn hamster to use its own elevator LOL :D.
Your realy a kid arent you, those motors arent strong enough to cut its tail off, not even when you use ALOT of cogs. the hamster might have pain and some painfull looking stuff on its tail.. but it wont come of that easy.
@rotjesenmatjes The motors aren't strong enough to pull it off simply by having it get caught in the structure as the elevator rises, but I think you're underestimating how damaging the gears can be. Also, I've never owned a hamster, so how should I know? In any case, it wouldn't be a pleasant experience, having had my finger caught on occasion.
And yes, I am a kid - I'm 14, and I was 10 when this video was taken. Is there a problem?
geez it looks like that took u a long time to build. kinda pointless if you ask me.......but i remember when i was younger i used to make stuff like this just because i didnt have anything else to do and it seemed fun at the time.
It actually isn't very hard to make a cable elevator. It is only hard to make an elevator that uses the power system (racks on the cab, gears on the chute) that mine does. An ordinary cable elevator is easy to make and you can find some on youtube (i just couldnt do that because i didnt have any string)
First and probably last to use the rack idea, theirs nothing wrong with cables and counterweights. Your design is overcomplex, but it's still good. I probably learn somthing from every model I make.
well, thats true. the main point of this design is that usually in elevators the racks are on the outside of the chute, but i put them on the cab to make it lighter (if the racks are on the cab, the cab doesn't need a motor)
No, nothing with a tail should go in there :). if you get anything caught in the gears, it is PAINFUL (I know from experience, i had red marks on my finger for the rest of the day)
thank you so mutch for the idea. i have all ways tryed to use ropes and pullys but this is so simple. i think you should use one moter for the up and down and the rest for a door. thank you its amazing

not really, unless the hamster doesnt have a tail, because if the tail gets caught in the gears, it might get pulled off :(
there is another elevator on youtube that does, though, by wpstuurman :)
