Goddamn Paul Gilbert fuckin rocks so hard. Racer X kicked so much ass. I love "Scarified" and this is a great live performance of it. That bassist is pretty nasty too.
On a side note I think Scarified could be a track on any F-Zero game, its got that crazy fast sort of philosophy.

@sirmarkos91 Bruce played guitar with Paul in Racer X, recording "Second Heat " and two live albums. He is as awesome as Paul and extremely underrated.
guys like Jeff Beck have got tinnitus for 30 years but Paul is one of the few to have monster earpluggers on stage. How come? He just does not care bout the looks? And I know he doesn't. A fun guy cause he never got into thecommercial side. Oh, MrBig. Once I found these tube clips I got back to the sheer fun of guitar amusement parkish joy. Paul is just a whooosh to watch.
@gtrfreak2914messiah No they didn't, i think the one who uploaded this visited 2 different concerts and mix them up on editing.. on 2:27 you can see that paul's guitar is white (PGM), then on 2:30 back on his first guitar, then back on his PGM again, and notice their pants, no one can change pants while playing guitar in 2secs, :-)
Paul and Bruce made some great music together. Second Heat and the Extreme Volume Live albums are classics ! Paul is still one of the coolest guys you will meet in Rock in Roll.

I don´t understand why you say that, what I really mean is that Yngwie an Van Halen are both unique in a way that they sound like themeselves and gilbert only sounds like a mix of them... U KNOW ITS TRUE
It's kinda funny with people always saying that there is no soul or emotion in paul gilbert's playing,
it's pretty ignorant to say that everything that has more notes per measurement than a b.b. king three notes solo has no soul, I mean just check out bach's harpsichord works
probably some people just don't know what soul, emotion or musical intention, however you wanna call it, means
@Lioc i agree with you.. those people dont really know paul gilbert that well.. if they'd only seen other videos of paul they will be amazed..and if they only pay attention, they will notice that most of paul gilbert's solos(especially on d spot) are powered by emotion..He is one of the few players that seldom look at the fretboard in their playing BCOZ He feels the notes! and paul gilbert is on top in terms of VERSATILITY ..
@Lioc true, but i think people just use that as an excuse to say that paul gilbert isn't as good as e.g. bbking or hendrix, i think it's all stupid and if hendrix still was alive and wasn't black people wouldn't say he was SO good
at 2.33 bruce's guitar changes, and pauls clothes change :S its happens a few times in the video i cant be assed finding all the bits it happens at though.
hey mrfree2go, maybe you cant play too fast just like PG do, maybe you try to listen to the jonas brothers or the moffats> if its your taste,, its his genre , so what the f*** you think of yourself? a guitar hero?
I don't think anything. I'm just a moron and an idiot. I just like different kinds of emotions in music. That's all. I said 100 times that I think PG's technique is brilliant. But to me personally there is too little feeling in it - mostly racing (nomen omen - Racer X, hahahahahaha). And so f***ing what? Don't I have right to have different opinion? I'm really having good time seeing how emotional you all are when you meet someone with different view. That's really pathetic.
you have a right to your own opinion. but saying pg has no feeling is really just not true. listen to all his stuff - technical difficulties- that song is really shreddy..but it has a different kinda of feeling to it than 65 bpm blues..if you know what i mean. and also check out his acoustic stuff too its pretty good.
I really like most of his stuff! And I do think he's got brilliant technique. Probably he's one of the best. But still I miss a bit more feeling in his play. That's something I find in Eric Johnson's or Pat Metheny's or Lee Ritenour's play. That the only thing I want to say.
@MrFree2go well eric johnson is good also..but i advice you to try listening to all Mr.Big"s songs.. and you'll find the emotion you are talking to..you'll hear how versatile paul gilbert is..from slow to a very fast tempo..and you'll hear how he puts emotion in his playing cause his solo just fits every song perfectly..
try listening to radiator, i cannot tell a lie, his hendrix covers, or paul vs. godzilla. they ooze emotion. I love paul for his technique but paul is sort of like two guitarists wrapped into one. he is one of those guitarists who can shred but he is also one of those guitarist who can play with a lot of soul. that is why he is so uniqiue
I'm not going to be as emotional versus some of the other people around here but I do disagree with your views. I don't see how you can't find emotion? When I see emotion, it's giving off a feeling for the player and listener. Listening to this live version of scarified, I feel pumped and exhilarated. When listening to a song like Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd, that makes me sad. There are different emotions than just sad. You kind of just treat it that way man.
what you're mistaking is that feeling has to be slow, steady guitar movements, but who ever said i, or anybody else, can't feel something thats really fast too? or is that just against the rules? Paul is the perfect guitarist, not only does he feel his slow stuff, but he feels his fast stuff too
prethscie - i actually agree with him, like i can imagine a person that actually doesnt play guitar fiding any sense in this song - boring to be honest
Boring! Boring! Boring! What did he want to say in this song? - Look, I'm so fast? I'm so fast, that you cannot catch up with me? Any emotion in his play? No. Zero. Null. Just technique. Which is brilliant, BTW. But I need more from music than just technique. I like Metheny. He also has great technique, but so much more feeling. Or Eric Johnson... so much emotion and brilliant technique too. You may say again I'm an idiot. I don't care. Go for some racing boys.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Uh! What a sophisticated answer! What an argument. I bow to thee allmighty! I'm idiot because I just don't like racers instead of musicians? Don't get me wrong - Gilbert is a brilliant guitarist, but I just don't like the way he uses his talent. That's all. If he put only a bit more emotion to his music (vide Gary Moore) it would sound much nicer to me. Why do you say I'm idiot? Enyone with different opinion than yours is an idiot? Shame...
I completely disagree on the 'lack of emotion' arguments. Simply cause someone doesn't express it by bending and vibrato doesn't mean it isn't there. Try classical music for an example, it's expressed through a global feel, not vibratoing the heck out of a note.
Maybe it's just harder for some (like you) to spot it, but it is most definately there ;)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Ok. You have different approach to music, I have different. There's no point to argue about the tastes. I agree totally that Gilbert is a technical genius. I actually like his skills, but for me it lacks a bit of emotion. And also there are a lot of two guitar lead patterns, but the bass guitar stays a bit too much in the shadow. Again - that's only my feeling about it. But one of guys here called me idiot (for different taste?), so that's why I'm teasing with you so long. Stay in peace. :-)
I understand you have your indivudual taste, and you dont like music with faster notes in it. But dont just close your eyes and say it doesnt have emotion just because its fast. Its there you just dont see it. Maybe because your brain doesnt process what it hears fast enough to make any sense of it, i dont know (no offense)
You for sure haven't been to one of his shows. This song is shreddy and w/e, but if you were in his audience you would never say he had no emotion. He comes out most of the time and rips like a 5 min bend thats so big your soul explodes.... i know, i was there. Btw, You're a moron
I will never understand why there is not a DVD release of G307. It would sell warehouse loads.

Which is brilliant, BTW. But I need more from music than just technique. I like Metheny. He also has great technique, but so much more feeling. Or Eric Johnson... so much emotion and brilliant technique too. You may say again I'm an idiot. I don't care. Go for some racing boys.

No emotion?
Why not check his face.
He gets so into it.
Most people sit there playing a solo looking bored. He sitting there rocking his head, standing and looking like he means it.

@mazey131 Agreed.
Emotion also means passion towards the music and showing it. I do it, but I look fucking ridiculous doing it :D Doesn't matter, though
