This song might be instructive. My parents' generation thought rock n' roll music sounded like noise. I couldn't understand their attitude. Now I hear this Zombies song for the first time. And altho I don't exactly feel that this song is noise, it comes close. I can imagine myself hating rock and roll when I listen to it. I can perhaps finally glimpse what my parents experienced.

Yeah, kaitlinn. When the song came out (I was 14) I loved that sexy moan. Without that sound I might not have played the 45 RPM vinyl record over and over and over again. The other side was the hit side, but I preferred this side. I hadn't heard it for decades until just now. Hey, where are my estrogen pills? (reminiscent chuckle)

The more I listen to this band, the more I think they've been the best guys around at the time. As high or maybe a little more than the Beatles. They sound so cold, so deep, so inventive and placid. I don't think the world realised how big it is yet.

the chord progression is similar to the one heard in lithium by nirvana. especially the C-E step. the voice is somewhat similar too. nonetheless - both songs rock! : )
I would actually have to listent to Nevermind to get the right song titles, Kurt Cobain wasn't to bright when it came to naming songs, but i don't have Nevermind, right now, i only have Incesticide, and i'm kind of busy watching Bugs Bunny cartoons in High Def !
just played this tune on breakfast with the beatles on the underground garage. very beatle sounding but still the haunting and jazz tinted unmistakable sound of the Zombies. What a great and underrated british invasion band. I was hoping to see some vintage live footage of them on you tube but cannot find any.
The Zombies , The Yardbirds & Spencer Davis Group are playing on tour in the US & Canada. I am goin to see them July 9 Capital One Bank Theatre Westbury, NY and July 10 The Fillmore/Irving Plaza NYC. Can't wait.
The Zombies are sounding so good here; is "She's Not There" on the other side? It's the b-side on the U.S. Parrot single. This song was also recorded by the Buckinghams (the b-side of "Kind of a Drag"; a nice version, but can't top the Zombies).
such a good touch with showing the record player, the zombies were great. I agree with nhbright this sounds like the beatles, what was so great about the zombies is some of their songs were ahead of their time. thankx for posting :)

Im only here because Jon Lajoie favorited this thing. Why do all these people hear nirvana through it? Poeple are CRAZY! This sounds like the beatles

@PlatypusGuitar
I'm here because Jon favorited this too, and yes you're right it sounds like The Beatles only it's not as good as the beatles songs.
nice song though

this song is awesome and i think kurt cobain from nirvana stole it
lowaces 2 years ago
hmm.. explain
ACParker13 2 years ago
the reson i say that is because of the begining, it sounds a lot like a lot of the begining of nirvana songs off thier nevermind cd
also, going into the realms of insanity, i had a dream in which harry potter told me, and who am i to argue with harry potter
lowaces 2 years ago
@lowaces Is it not 'About A Girl' from Nirvana's 'Bleach' album that reminds you of this?

There are two or three notes at the start that sound kinda like Polly, but I think this is accidental.
Great bands sometimes think alike, and I think that is the case here with The Zombies and Nirvana.
SweetZombiJesus 1 year ago
no i don't think it was the polly song, but then again my memory isn't what it use to be, id have to listen to nevermind to be sure
i have the zombie heavan box set and its awesome
