really the question you should be thinking about, is who owns the music, does the artist who creates benefit and their family, or are they at the mercy of those who have the capital to distribute, license, and legally defend their music. What you will find as you study further is that music typically reflects the technology of the age, i.e. how the creativity of artists can be manifested more so than anything else. So that in this age, I don't think people are "sick" of any kind of music
you can't watch a jazz documentary without seeing one of the marsalis in it..annoying

The complete film about Charles Mingus I was looking for many years ago,
I had the chance to see him in Paris with his group of Changes One and Two ! But where was I in 1984 ?
Nobody to say anything interesting about that music ?
Alas in France the DVD (still available on sale ?) is not subtitled ; difficult to understand the exact words of the musicians and of Mingus himself.
