  • I just came from an Applebees and ordered a steak (usually alright for a place like this). We both ordered medium well, my gf's came out closer to well but still delicious. Mine appeared larger and thicker (even though we ordered same size) and was medium rare towards ends on inside and rare to uncooked in middle with a gross tendon in it.

It wasn't cooked through. I was polite and they kindly cooked it to well AND gave me a second steak dinner on the house to eat or take home.

  • mmm.... applebee's!!!

fucking gross "restaurant" to begin with!!!!!

  • Yuck that's just disgusting. I would probably just cook at home after that.

  • I'm sure that they offered you a gift certificate, since they exposed you to the risk of contracting Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease.

  • EWWWWWWW!!

  • It looks medium to me...if you want just a tad bit of pink i believe, my friend, you're looking for "medium-well"...if you want a completely brown burger then you're looking for "well" Peace.....

  • Ground Meat and Poultry

Research indicates that the color of the meat and the color of the juices are not accurate indicators of doneness. Ground beef may turn brown before it has reached a temperature at which bacteria are destroyed. A consumer preparing hamburger patties and depending on visual signs to determine safety by using the brown color as an indicator is taking a chance that pathogenic microorganisms may survive.

  • @willytate

A hamburger cooked to 160 °F, measured with a food thermometer throughout the patty, is safe - regardless of color.

This information was taken directly from USDA.GOV

  • @willytate You said cooked. This isn't "cooked" enough to hold itself together.

  • @willytate That thing was seared and served. I highly doubt the inside of it saw temperatures of 160F. The layer of browning is around 1/16th of an inch. Further- the color balance of the camera is great- that color is... uncooked Moo cow.

I order Rare burgers at some places that almost look that raw.
