This is the first time I've heard this Tortoise tune in a while. It's brilliant. It's one of their early tunes from like 1993, right? I'm glad Tortoise is still active.
It must be great to not have to worry about writing lyrics or singing vocals in their music. Just let the music speak for itself. You could probably sing over this but I get the feeling it would ruin it.
I love my city of chicago..I wish I was 22 back in 1968 fighting with the counter culture instead of being 22 right now fighting for absolutley nothing because the crowds don't have the heart or mind anymore and don't see whats wrong with the US. Everyone in this country is obsessed with Lady Gaga, Soulja Boy, and other bull shit brain wash that we don't need. I hope people start seeing, truly seeing the negative things and fight, fight goddamnit.
aaa, i was wondering where i`d heard that tune before - it sounds a lot (lot) like Sonic Youth`s "The Diamond Sea" (from Washing Machine, 1995) - i know Gamera was released around the same time - maybe the bands toured together in the mid 90`s or something?
the only reality is that the lower class majority of any race will only disgust the other lower class races. whites will be trailer trash, beat there wives, make too many babies, and hate blacks and mexicans. Blacks will always be thugs, beat their wives, make to many babies and hate whites for the past. Mexicans do the same...the middle class and upper class will be fine and can live hand in hand. Theres no getting around it
We need to leave the race question out of our political discussion for now. We are and always have been in class warfare.
Governmental systems were established to keep the wealthy upper class in power forever. They use devices like political jargon, fixed elections, protection/religion, and the media to keep everyone else in line. I'm not a Anarchrist, but I do realize that power is only for the few.
How can you leave race out of the discussion? Race drives the class struggle. You know why? The powers that be....the elite....need a scapegoat to cover their criminal economic policies. How else could they get the majority to adopt policies that are clearly detrimental to quality of life and against their own best interests? The elite need the "other" to demonize so they can co- opt and disguise the political debate.
real. people had different types of cameras. color film did exist then. That was a generation that would hold a peace sign up but this gen would rather make money and text their friends about the hills or some shit.
@v0t34m3 It's all relative. The same ones who held up the peace sign are the ones who later sold out. They all have houses, mortgages, children, car payments...They all sold out.
@v0t34m3 I am from this Generation. And we still have dreams. We still have our hopes. This is the present. To everyone of my generation: Don't dream your life, Live your dreams. Have hope. And fight for what you believe in. Don't let people tell you our generation sucks. Older generations always do that. We are beautifull. We didn't choose to life in their fucked up made world. But we can make a difference! So get inspired! Life, love, and come up with new ideas!!
