Talk about genre bashing. Wil Maring is the consumate musician. She makes a song her own and, as far as I can see, does it with class and style. I'm very surprised she is not more "mainstream" because she has it all, in the way that, say, Vince Gill has it all - vocals, skill on a variety of instruments, stage presence, movie star good looks - you name it, she's got it. She's great!
I absolutely love Wil Manring, and Robert Bowlin and Brad Davis.......Wil cooks on this song. No comparisons.....I like Wil, I like Griffith but I listen to Wil more often......
Nope. The song was written by Will Jennings (frequent co-writer of the late Roy Orbison, Rodney Crowell) and Steve Winwood. Zevon had no hand in the writing of this song..
i'm truly a new fan of wil. i only heard the first song " keeper of the farm"just the other day and i can't stop looking up all her posts and songs at you tube & my space... tks for sharing your songs!her song arkansas traveller with the guitar tuned like a banjo on capo IV was so rich in open chords, I had to learn it! bravo, bravo, bravo!
What have I been missing, and you're in town tonight! I can't attend (I sent four friends), so I'm listening here instead. Sorry to miss you in person. Patsy Cline finally has a contestant for first place. Come back to Santa Cruz CA soon so I can witness the in-person!
Just wandering around to listen to some new to me artists and found this. What an excellent cover of this song! If you like Wil...go check out Taylor Pie too. Wil Maring is a truly talented artist and I hope to hear more of her.
What a great song, and great singing too W.M. It is also wonderful and ironic that this song was sort of like Stevie's 'come-back' song from the heady fame of the 60's, so it is great to see song perpetuated this way. Thanks for including it,
Great song, great voice, great production, OH and great mandolin, and a huge great number of stars to you!! Check Judy and I out from Vancouver Island Canada thanks.
Wil's version of this song makes me happy! Very nice.

I thought this would have nothing on Winwood's original version, but I was wrong. It's a nice cover that brought a smile to my face.

Revitalizing rendition of Winwood's mandolin inspired classic, that...pardon my opinion, plays better through Wils pipes.
