This was produced by Jack Richardson who also produced The Guess Who, Bob Seger and Alice Cooper. Jack passed away May 13th . He was known as the Father of Canadian music because he put a second mortgage on his house to do Wheatfield Soul. He was known for his great vocals .... especially back ups and listen to these ... God bless Jack.
There are so many musicians out there that are very talented and never get the exposure the deserve unfortunately Christopher Ward was one of the . Chris has a smooth style and was is a very likable person he has done many things since his time a Much Music as a VJ. So even if he didn't make as many records for himself he has help many others achieve their goals. Chris your one of the very best out there thanks for everything you've done for us.
Finally - I have been searching for this song forever, had to listen to a taped version from the radio from the late 70's. Thank you for posting this!!!!
so many great artists from canada -- many were one hit wonders or just locally played in canada and the US border states --Too bad -- terrific songs from the artists up north. -- This is one -- Thanks so much!!! Living in the Detroit area I still get a chance to hear these on CKWW 580 AM to this day---- fabulous --Thanks for the video!!
He is a former long-standing on-air personality at MuchMusic, Canada's music video network, where he and J.D. Roberts were among the first video jockeys in 1984. I had no idea he sang this song and some others I just heard. Nice voice!
This is a miracle. Thank goodness someone has this song and decided to share it. If I'd had even the smallest thought that this song would not turn up for almost 30 years, I would have spent my last dime and bought it when I heard it. Thank you! And thank you Christopher Ward for recording it.
I personally think that Christopher never got the recognition he truly deserved, like a lot of Canadian artists at that time, and he was not just a 1 hit wonder,he had other songs that were just as good as a lot of the other songs of that time.
His success really was in songwriting. Keep in mind that he penned Alannah Myles' "Black Velvet" which was a Billboard #1 hit. Canadian recording artist Theo Tams is releasing a new single this Monday (March 29) that Christopher wrote called "Manhattan Blue"
Just today I was thinking of this song! Ah, I love it! Pure pop heaven! This and "Once in a Longtime" are all-time favorites, and, thanks to youtube (and you), I can now hear them again.
this was a great canadian artist at his best

The thing is he couldn't really hit the notes that he put in the song, but it's quite charming nonetheless. And he was so very, very cute!

This would have been an awesome song even without that fantastically creative opening, but with it, it just takes the song to a whole other level.

I pretty much think his time was wasted on MuchMusic. He should have kept writing and recording during the 80's too. We know about his 90's hit.
