I suppose the rumors concern people that he "convinced" to work with him. And I believe his close friend, William Bast, had something to say about the matter. Go figure.
oh god... i just wanna shoot myself now...coz i don;t want to live on a planet where people compare james dean to robert pattinson...i mean seriously guyzz...
James Dean is probably the most natural, original, unique and real 'gesture' actors to be seen on screen. He doesn't quite have the same piercing focus of Robert De Niro, neither could he reach the heights of passion like Al Pacino. Nor, did he ever show the verticality of Johnny Depp or the physical excellence of Jim Carrey. But, he was never given the chance. R.I.P
I think being 100% honest, his acting was sometimes a little hit and miss, but when he was good, he was really good. I adore this man, call me vain, but he is a charm to look at.
Please check out the Trailer for "Weekend at the Cabin" and Purchase your own copy or rent it today. Help support your Indie Artist. Tell a friend. Have a great day.
Its Sept. 30--and that means it is the anniversary of Mr. Dean's premature death. We continue to mourn the passing of this great artist after all these many years--I know no other famous person that people continue to honor in this way. I ask Dean fans to light a candle in this great man's memory this coming evening and say a few words of thanks to his great talent. As an actor James is my shining light.
@KleWdSide I don't think you can compare the two, Gerard is super hot, but, to me, a grown and matured man. Dean was just growing into his manhood.. if that makes sense. The sheer perfection of Dean's facial geometry is hard to beat, though.. :o) xoxo
First of all. Love your channel and subscribed immediately. Second I'd love to know the piece of opera playing in the 'Rebel Without a Cause' compilation. Thanks so much.
i have such a huge obsession and fascination towards james (which only recently begun) i respect him so much for being individual unlike most kids today, who have no depth at all.
james had a deep insight towards the world we live in (i can certainly relate)...it's a shame that's a rarity today.
i damn that porsche spyder to hell! it was most definitely cursed.
@Cla900 I have a feeling that plenty of today's kids feel alienated & have struggled greatly too. Dean was in his 20's by the time his starring roles came out. Let's give the new generations a chance... His was a different era, for sure. It's very sad that Dean never had a chance to fully realize his potential as a person and an artist! I agree with you about the Porsche. But he HAD to have it.. He was obsessed with possessing it. It got HIM in the end. :*(. Cursed, indeed!
@magicindi I love him too, dear! Just remember, there are so many talented, wonderful, sweet, and interesting boys out there. Keep your eyes and mind open, and always expect/demand to be treated with respect and dignity. YOU are loveable! xoxo <3 :o)
@MsOrlandos The first time I saw it when I was a teenager I felt the same. As an adult (and having learned so much about the era & acting in general) I came to really appreciate the story as well as the acting. Not everyone will find an emotional connection to the film... give it a go again in a few years, you might change your mind. Thanks for the comment though! :o)
James did such an amazing job. Watching this made me feel a lot for Dean as well as Jim Stark. When many people think of Dean, they see him as a rebel. While yes, he did play "rebellious" characters, I see a more good hearted, yet misunderstood character, as in this film. I felt for him because he wanted to be accepted and do right. I can really relate to that, and when he found his new friends, he wasn't lonely. I'm sure a lot of people can relate to Dean in some way. He is definitely an icon.
I read it in a magazine... even in E! channel says that he is a combination of Marlon Brando and James Dean.... I mean he got the "bad child" look but...... the perfomance are so danm different!
@ScarlettRoberts ahhhh, I see. I have found that most all magazines are just full of b.s., their only intention is to sell magazines and thus generate money from advertisements. I never take that stuff seriously.. You're obviousness well aware that the epic icons of each century take decades to develop and solidify. I'll be truly surprised if Pattison ends up such an epic figure! ;o) Thanks for the comment! :o) xoxo
@ocrerose LOL! I agree! I must say, though.. I think Johnny Depp is a very respectable and truly talented actor. He's a rare exception. He's always been more concerned about being challenged by the roles he takes, and shuns the spotlight, completely abandoned "Hollywood". Also.. consider De Niro, Walken, Nicholson, etc. To find today's exceptional artists, look at the exceptional directors. Thanks for the comment! :o) (Like you, I DO wonder where all the YOUNGER true talent is, though... ?!)
@sublime1marilyn I agree that there are a few actors out there today that are truly talented e.g Benedict Cumberbatch etc. but they don't get the recognition they deserve. Or..the truly talented wouldn't want to enter Hollywood and all that, they'd prefer just to stick to Shakespeare!
@DeathOfAKnight True beauty sometimes equals pain! Isn't that something?! I wish there was so much more footage of him.... I have pretty much all there is, and it's just not enough. Did you see the other vid of him I uploaded? You might like it, it's shorter and has some candid footage of him in it.. Thanks for the comment! :o) xoxo
JAMES DEAN IS THE BEST AND NONE OF THE NEW HOLLYWOOD ACTORS WILL EVER BE LIKE HIM.JAMES DEAN WAS A REAL MAN,AND IT IS A SHAME TO COMPARE HIM WITH ROBERT PATTERSON THAT FLAT FACE.LOVE U JIMMY DEAN
@rebelDean550 Robert Patterson is actually a really good actor. You don't have to associate him with Twilight if you should have any right to be a critic. You should be smarter than that and look further. He did a phenomenal job in "water for elephants."
@beepollen1 It's a shame that he didn't. There's no telling how many more great performances we would have all gotten to see on the big screen. This man was simply incredible. I can watch him over and over again and still see something new. Brilliant actor without a doubt! Peace
@McKenaMars I like James Franco, too... I respect his work and his choice to challenge convention. He played Dean in a film about James' life... I don't really think they look much alike though. Just MHO.... :o)
@supersweeper59 You are so right. James had more talent in his pinky than all the young actors of today. As a former Dean fan, i was totally obsessed by this man for awhile there--even went to his home town, wrote 60 page synopses of his movies. Now, as an actor, I can see his craft. Folks it is NOT easy to make it look easy. No one combined Dean's liquid handsomnes, his little boy quality, & dangerous undertow....M. Clift---close. My hats off to you James---you're my acting inspiration!!!
@windstorm1000 So true. I'm in high school and taking a great film studies class. J. David Slocum's book is a great analysis of him, especially the "Stark Performance" section. The whole concept of the unperformed self is just incredible. I mean he was as much James Dean in this film as he was Jim Stark.
@RalphAdriane i was confused there coz thats would be the 2nd of august to me coz im scottish we do the day/month/year = which actually makes more sence to be honest!
@RalphAdriane Ralph, I salute Mr. Dean with you and millions of others and wish him a belated Happy Birthday too. He's fabulous and a inspiration to millions of actors and movie goers after all these years (and will be long after today's stars are forgotten)--though he would probably disapprove being the shy person he was. Hats off to you, Jim--we love you.
James Dean, Heath Ledger, Johnny Depp...Those three are my top three idols, and anyone watching this video or ANY of Dean's work can see why he is in that list. He was and still is a HUGE inspiration for actors today, and Johnny Depp has even drawn ideas from his work, as did Heath Ledger. He wasn't just ONE of the greats, he was THE great.
911, or 901, that's a mere Porsche vs Peugeot, they argued about that during the sixties, when the Porsche came later... true acting??? this was pain...
@Joke9972 There are many techniques and schools of thought regarding acting... true pain, perhaps, but his choice of technique required it. Method Acting...
At 2:40 when James Dean starts banging the desk, he actually does for real! I read it in a biography. His hands were all bruiseed and he had to go for x-rays! James Dean was such a great actor. One of the best ever in my opinion. I love him.
he was a great actor and had such an awesome sense of humour!!!! I miss him so much... although he died before I was born. I wish he'd still been alive... <3
55 years ago today. In Mass, on this day no more text messaging while driving. While I'm sure not deliberate, it's a nice tribute to Jimmy's memory nonetheless.
55 years since he died, but really, those who remember are keeping his spirit alive. He's a legend and keeping him in our hearts makes him immortal. Spread the word, remember the man, James Dean.
My Dads cousins and Uncle. Made a Movie with James Dean in Marfa, Texas. It was Giant. My most Favorite Actor. Dad let her see it. Wanted his Dad to stand up and be a Man.
@Nutera1 that's the ride of the valkeries by wagner. James was listening to it and drinking red wine to get himself psyched up for the scene---it worked.
FUUUUCK! his acting just takes my breath away... it is not just acting, he's involving his emotions and feelings towards the relationship with his father. Clearly you can see through his acting that he was desperately asking for love... you can also see this in "East of Eden"... he was and still is THE KING.

Joke9972 1 year ago
@Joke9972 There are many techniques and schools of thought regarding acting... true pain, perhaps, but his choice of technique required it. Method Acting...

At 2:40 when James Dean starts banging the desk, he actually does for real! I read it in a biography. His hands were all bruiseed and he had to go for x-rays! James Dean was such a great actor. One of the best ever in my opinion. I love him.

@Nutera1 that's the ride of the valkeries by wagner. James was listening to it and drinking red wine to get himself psyched up for the scene---it worked.

WHAT A WASTE, A GREAT ACTOR GONE FOREVER HE COULD BE BETTER THAN PACINO BUT THE DESTINY IS CRUEL RIP JAMES DEAN :(
josephgmen 1 year ago
FUUUUCK! his acting just takes my breath away... it is not just acting, he's involving his emotions and feelings towards the relationship with his father. Clearly you can see through his acting that he was desperately asking for love... you can also see this in "East of Eden"... he was and still is THE KING.
