Obama and Ayers worked together on a committee the talked about PUBLIC SCHOOLING, and HOW THEY COULD IMPROVE IT. To use the church analogy, you don't have the same faith as everyone else in the room just because you congregated.

True it was backed by China and Russia, but the Vietnamese had been oppressed for nearly the entirety of their existence as a nation.

i know Ho moved to France, became part of the socialist party, lived in Russia and China, part of the Chinesse communist party and Red army at one point. He started youth movements in Nam, He actually sought out US assistance at one point too. Obama and Ayers worked together on a committee the talked about PUBLIC SCHOOLING, and HOW THEY COULD IMPROVE IT. They were not talking about RADICAL 60'S POLITICS, or TERRORIST ACTIVITY, or VIETNAM. they worked together to reach a common goal, that does not mean that they influence eachother's politics. To use the church analogy, you don't have the same faith as everyone else in the room just because you congregated.

Now, you have to understand that being on a committee does not mean that you are "buddy-buddy," or that you influence each others politics, or even that you share parallel views. They were working together, along with many respectable conservatives and liberals, in search of a common goal, and one that is quite admirable. So don't use the "death by association" argument please.

My guess is that they have the same father but different mothers. That would make them half-brothers. Someone quoted a paragraph from Obama's book where he mentioned a childhood meeting. The quoted portion suggests that the decision for estrangement came from George's end. Granted, George couldn't afford a plane ticket, but he probably could have managed a stamp, or a collect call, if he really wanted help. They did meet in person. He doesn't seem to be asking. Should help be forced on George?
