I'm assuming most of these people are here because they like the Alan Parsons Project and have been listening to his music for a while, as I have since childhood. This being the case, I didn't really understand how funny of a bit this is until recently, because honestly, of all the band names to use here, I'm pretty sure the Alan Parsons Project is the most seemingly-random one to use. I discovered this one night and almost died laughing because I'm sure this gag was lost on so many people.
@youarewrongyesable Probably because you're posting this in here and nobody really cares; you're like too "hurt" inside so you gotta express yourself everywhere you can.
Or I just could say "Gay" to you instead of everything above.
@stuffedsonic He never said it wasn't formed then. He said the band merely existed in the year 1982. Y'know, the year Scott Evil is from in this film?

Actually, the laser was invented by Dr. Theodore H. Maiman of Berkley University; and where did he get the "Alan"? Dr. Evil never mentioned the first name of Dr. Parsons, who may or may not have existed!
@retroworks1 Yeah old school APP is more my style too, but 1982 saw Eye in the Sky, which was a huge hit for a progressive rock band in the 80's, up there with Yes' 90125 and Genesis' self titled album, both from 1983 I believe.
I saw The Alan Parsons Project a few years back; they used this clip (audio only) to introduce themselves before they came on stage. What a great sense of humor!
Operation Wang Chung...got to love this...it is pretty funny. Being an Alan PArsons Project fan since my childhood, I love this clip, it is sooooooooooooo awesome!!!!
Hey I aggree totaly, way ahead of their time those 2 lps. I wore out both cassetts. When I first heard Breakdown thrty years ago I thought it was TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS
I never thought that. I thought it was REO or Toto. Or The Holllies. As a matter of fact, Alan Clark(Hollies lead vocalist) is the singer on that song. Great song w/ great ending!
ha ha on my history final, there was a question about the creation of trinity the choices were: a) project fusion b)Manhattan project c)new mexico project or d) the alan parsons project

In fact, Dr. Evil refers to Dr. Parsons inventing the "Giant Laser on the Moon" and "The Moon as Death Star"... which both ARE a JOKE! hehehe

He didn't say it was formed then? He said it was a "PROGRESSIVE ROCK BAND in 82." Which is obviously implying that thats when they were most famous.
