  • Got stuck on the way top of the ball had to walk down steps and I new I was probably 100 ft down (SCARY!!!!!!!!)

  • Sounds like Dame Judy Dench did the narration...

  • ok, while they did need to change the ending due to the fact it was dated, this cartoon thing just looks retarded

  • Absolutely loved this ride. Although I do prefer it back in the 90's.

  • I remember vividly the segment with Rome burning and the smell - a very cool visceral effect to incorporate smell.

  • The best part of the ride to me is when you just enter the klydescop and you get the last glimpse of the space scene. The stars look so real. I also like those northern lights at the beginning, only if they were a little brighter.

  • The nostalgia lover in me hates that things were changed. With that said, I can't WAIT for my trip in November to see all those changes! (Although I definitely miss the old narrator's voice. I always loved that part where your car moves around to a new stage just as he dramatically pauses and says "...The theatre.") I go on that ride multiple times a day when I'm there. I don't know why, as it's not particularly exciting, but I've ALWAYS loved it, changes and all!

  • The screen show that is there now starts after where the city was so really thats an accomplishment for that part of the ride since there wasn't much of any thing there in the old Spaceship Earth anyway. I just wish they would add in the replacement scenery once and for all. I am tired of waiting.

  • The Lady with the cheak board in the computer room is an anamatronic from Horizons

  • I can't believe they fit all this in that ball.

  • I loved this ride before and I still love it now.

It's different, but no worse or better in my opinion <3

  • When i was 4 spaceship earth scared me.......i climbed over the seat to sit with my mom =/ i have no idea why

  • @tdsmeg4 Maybe it was your first time.

  • is their any big drops in this ride? i am going to orlanddo in july and splash mountain will be my biggest thrill ride. Would i be able to go on this one?

  • @theaman45 no, it's all really gentle and calm. no drops at all. it's a great family ride <3

  • @theaman45 No drops :D it's really calm and relaxing :)

  • Great video!!

  • I remember being so exited to see my favorite ride all updated and being blown off by the black walls on both sides and a little screen. I was so upset and just full of confusion and disbelief. I remember being upset that it might be dramatically changed, I didn't know it would be that bad.

  • The newer version of this they take your picture and put it onto the cartoons head its really funny

  • There was a time when EPCOT was awesome. This ride was part of it, but it's merely a shell of its former self. I know Walter Cronkite wouldn't resonate with modern audiences, but his narration was inspiring.

  • @mrbionicleboy Yes...Stay away from EPCOT. It's gone completely in the tank in the last 10 years.

  • This should be called DIS STUPID

  • When I first saw this I thought the girl at 2:55 was Trillian from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie.

  • My favorite part of this ride was when they took a picture of me on a mini tv & made a cute little cartoon out of me starting at 3:31!

  • I've been on this ride before! It has robots which represents things which happened a long time ago! I went here on my school field trip to Epcot!

  • Loved this ride. Last time I was on it was in '99 and still had the Jeremy Irons narration.

  • awsome ride.

  • Never look dwn! or u become more scared as usuall

  • this is the most relaxing place in the world i know it sounds cheesy but it is

  • @OlliPotter88 lol i totally agree it's very relaxing I remember me and my boyfriend had fast passes for test track, we had to wait about 2 hours so we rode this like 3 times to cool off and relax lol its a great ride to relax in lol

  • is the voice f the ride Judi Dench? it sounds like her!

  • I love this ride

  • dthe technology people have come up with these days.. are a amazing. This ride is incrediable! i am going in 12 days, and i can't wait to go on this ride.

  • This ride sort of scared me at the beginning because the robots seriously look like real people, and you're like "Holy shi---- THEY'RE GOING TO COME OVER AND ATTACKKKK"

But it's an interesting ride if you're a geek like me.

I would have to agree though, the build your future thing at the end was pretty lame. Oh well. I always made stupid faces at the camera just to see what they would turn out like. XD.

  • The only new thing i like is the new music between the machine part and the masa scene. I hate the ending and the screens are stupid.

  • Comment removed

  • yeah the animatronics is too fast and the lighting is a lot brighter than the original. I think the original was definitely better. Maybe if enough people speak up enough, they'll put it back to the way it was.

  • I should get a loud beck pack speaker and blast the Jeremy Irons voice with the old music during the ride over the existing sound. I bet people would like that.

  • you poor poor children of the 21st century. you have no idea how different and grander Epcot was in the 1980s. i can beleive they even changed SpaceSHipEarth :(

  • I went to Epcot last month and missed most of the old attractions, I got used to this new version real well, but I missed the Irons version.

  • @masonTganes I know. It was magical. But it is still the first park I hit on my Disney vacations.

  • @masonTganes Yeah... Epcot in the 1980s were the best, I feel very sorry for the children of today even my daughter! :(

  • i love this ride! one time i went on it like 8 times (: haha

i really wanna go to disney world again.

  • Haha "nilvarg" your comment is hilarious. It is like obama change, the gay make your own future thing at the end doesn't seem to go along with the ride at all and they took away the classic music. I love Disney but what they've been doing lately with the "pixar takeover" is ridiculous. They are some of the worst rides in Disney history. I hope the refurb of space mountain doesn't take away from that as well.

  • i hate it how they added that gay, make your own future part of the ride

  • my favorite ride

  • Dude the part when you look up and see Michaelangelo painting the sistine chapel ceiling gives me chills!

  • That guy looks like Ronald Reagan at 3:00

  • haha I lived in a organic home! like I was enivornmentally friendly

  • The lady at 2:55 looks like Lieutenant Uhura, lol.

  • that's pretty neat, and the animatronic characters move more realistically

  • I like it at the end where you do "your future"

  • It's an impressive thing alright, the only problem is that the photo taking doesn't always work.

  • I actually like the new soundtrack for the ride, a lot.

  • they got rid of the legend that is Jeremy Irons? AND the kickass music?

at least the robotics look more realistic

  • isnt he scar from lion king

  • yeah jeremy irons is scar from the lion king

  • Out of all the flaws that came from this renovation, at least the robotics received an excellent upgrade.

  • I've always loved this ride-it's my favorite at Disney World! I really miss the old music, though :(

  • i would go for the Trans-Levity train, as opposed to a hover car.

  • I went in that place and it was completely different, it was project tomorrow there

  • that's after you exit the ride

  • It would be neat to find a side-by-side comparison of the Greek mathematics scene (Pythagoras?) (00:25-00:42) from the new and old versions. He looks so sharp now!

  • Not an adequate tradeoff for completely raping Spaceship Earth.

  • Haha, I haven't seen the new one yet (May 21st!), but I was pretty upset when I heard what they were re-doing. I don't know, though. I think I can live with a new narrator, but I actually really miss the music more than anything! ...Well, that's what I think before riding the ride.

  • You can't live with the new narrator. Jeremy Irons was freaking amazing. But Dame Judi Dench is just terrible. Her narration sounds half-assed and ungenuine. And the music now is far less epic than the 1994-2008 music.

And then there are the touch screens at the end that just completely destroy the atmosphere.

  • This is news to me...I have been enjoying this ride for practically the entirety of my life...hope they dont completely FUCK IT ALL UP!

  • The last line in the video, Looks like it'll be a "great big beautiful tomorrow" is actually the main line from the song played in the ride Carousel of Progress. "it's a great big beautiful tomorrow, shining at the end of every day, it's a great big beautiful tomorrow, and tomorrow is just a day away..."

  • i love this ride!!

  • i didn't know the ride changed. i haven't been there in like 2-3 years. wow. im sad, because for some reason, this was like one of my favorites.

  • Yeah, they completely destroyed it.

  • What did they ruin?

I have been attending this ride since 1994 (very young age) and I have seen very little change!

Anyway, I'm am going within the month! Hurray for me!

  • That's because from 1994 to 2008, it was the same Jeremy Irons narration with the great soundtrack and the lack of a blindingly bright screen screwing up the last part of the ride.

    You will be disappointed.

  • Actually, since technology is changing, they have to change the ride, it sorta goes along with the future theme. I mean yea, the old spaceship earth was beautiful, and i loved it, but now we get to experience the interactive touch screen technology, and at the end of the ride everything is up to date. Can you think in about 20 years or so that the ride stayed the same? In another 10 years or maybe 5 years they will re-do it again. The point is technology is always changing and time goes on.

  • How exactly does advancing technology mean that they should replace Jeremy Irons with a completely mediocre and uninteresting narrator, shove a glaring monitor in front of your face at the finale of the ride, and get rid of amazingly epic music that has been loved by millions for a decade and a half?

Change is fine, if it is positive change. This is not positive change. This is like replacing your quad-core Intel processor with a 233MHz Pentium 2. This is Disney's version of Obama Change™.

  • @ricardo10101 ahah i agree but still shouldve been jeremy irons =P

  • awesome vidoe thanks!

  • is this the one in DisneyWorld or Land?

  • disney world

  • disney world. look at 2:59 u can tell because the woman has a black face but white legs.

  • lol her legs aren't white those are yellow stockings :]

  • What are you talking about?

  • I miss looking u and seeing the walls of the ball with the stars on it and looking at the earth. I also miss going down and looking at the city with the northern lights. I am a little disapointed that they changed the whole thing. i like how they made it kind of like horizons but i wish they would add more. They took out alot of the classic stuff.

  • yeah, those were my favorite parts of the ride

  • Um, what's the point of the survey/video? Seems boring...

  • I am sooo impressed with this refurb. They really used the new audioanimatronic technology well and the little added changes were great. I'm still not sure how I feel about the "drop" but it is growing on me.

  • I liked Jeremy Irons better as the narrator :)

  • Of all the changes, I think Judy Dench as the narrator was the only one I was really displeased with. There was just something about the tone of a man's voice on the ride, especially once Jeremy Irons came in.

  • To BamaJen:

    Oh babby... ;-P

  • LOL!!

  • BamaJen:

    Hehehe... q:-P

  • i like this ride

  • I was in Disney in February, just a few days after they re-opened spaceship Earth. The new ride is very different from the old ride, but I enjoyed it. And they finally did something with that big empty room as you exit!

  • i was in there the day it opened it was awsome i rode it 3 times the touch screens r funny its cool in the paviilion it shows you were u live sooo cool

  • When i was there in july the wait time was 60 mins, for spaceship earth!!only went on taht ride in the past to laugh at it,it was rubbish but you had to go on it!looks like they have done it all up now!

  • If anything, it's rubbish now.

  • I was just comparing the Socrates scene with a picture I took of the old scene when I went back in 2006. True it's lost the old Disney charm, but the refurbished ride is truly impressive. I guess I'll just have see when I visit in a few months.

  • WTF happened to these ride ?

  • My god what have they done to Spaceship Earth? They should have just left it alone.

  • I was in WDW back in September and it was closed then, I'll be back there sometime next year and I always enjoyed this ride. FUnny thing was, last time being on this ride, it broke down and sat for 45 minutes. We walked down the steps and out the door.

  • It is a disturbing trend at WDW. Old Spaceship Earth (i.e. the Walter Cronkite or Jeremy Irons version) was a "typical" Disney ride - theme, musical score, etc...when you think about all the rides that have disappeared (this one, Living Seas, Horizons, World in Motion) and what they have been replaced with, it almost feels as if the Disneyness is being sucked out!

  • i gotta say, the everything in the bag answer reminded me of bob

  • i just like it better than before, it was gettin to old.

  • I never want to go on this ride again. They have some English chick talking and even the good music was changed.

  • This used to be my fav. ride at EPCOT, but not since they changed it. I can't believe they got rid of some of my favorite parts and replaced it with boring sets like the computer room and the man sitting in the garage. More importantly, the ride on the way back down used to be beautiful and relaxing....now it's been ruined with hands on computer cartoon touch screens. I say we get enough computers in everyday life! Bring back the other Spaceship Earth and Walter Cronkite or Jeremy Ions!

  • does the attraction still have the huge cell phone at the exit or is that long gone?

  • Bring back Walter Cronkite! He was the narrator before Jeremy Irons and alongwith Tomorrows Child it was great. Was on SSE last week though and it was much better, smoother and generally cleaned up.

  • No offence, but Disney ripped off of the Matrix coding at one part. I haven't been on the new one yet, but I guess its ok from the looks of it. I still prefer the original =D

  • actually Disney just used a very basic computer programme and the Matrix had ripped off Ghost in the Shell anyway

  • Hahah luv a bita spaceship earth!u hav 2 go on it everytime no matter wat, havin said that tho i didnt go on it on my last trip 2 disney!30 mins, dun tink so!so i havnt seen it since its bin changed!

  • idk y but i luv that ride no matter how slow it goes

  • I was jus there yesterday

I hadn't been on that ride in nearly three years and its totally changed

The cartoons are new but when I went yesterday they took our pics as the ride started up into Spaceship Eath.So our heads were put onto the cartoon bodies it was histeriacal seeing yourself as a cartoon

  • I liked Jeremy Irons better as the narrator :)

  • The new narrator is Dame Judy Dench. I wonder why they chose two Brits in a row?

  • what changes have they made to it? because i am going later this summer....

  • Is the attraction better lit? I ask because the section from the Phonecian Merchants through the Roman Empire used to be somewhat dark. I was very surprised to see those sections so well lit, especially the Roman scene. Usually to get that much background definition, you have to use nightshot on the video camera, which gives everything a greenish tinge.

  • The mechanics are splendid, but I would prefer a better soundtrack (I loved the old one), and a better ending, the old one with the futuristic city, the vids of family members talking together; it expressed wonderful communication possibilites, as well as the faboulous fiber optic lights

  • The last rendition was built by AT&T, and so it focused on communications.

This time around Siemens, a major electronics company, altered it's view of what most affected the 20th century: computers...

  • O, well I always thought the commuincations theme was best; but I suppose I can't change the fact that my favourite ride off all time is dead now :(

  • Awe... I am sorry for you. I haven't seen it yet, but the original was one of my favorites. I always felt inspired after leaving the ride.

  • This is really awesome, but these videos seem to almost take away the magic of disney. You have to BE THERE to feel what dsney is like.

  • so true. i found this by googling the tapestry of nations parade that i used to love that no longer runs, and i wanted to see the video since i cant see the real thing anymore.. but when i started seeing that EVERYTHING is on youtube now, it totally strips it of its magic. i'm not oging to watch anymore of it because seeing it only every few years or more when i go is what makes it special :)

  • Nice to see that they put a kid's voice back into the newspaper boy. Some nice and welcome changes. The only downer is the ending: The thought of having no peace in one's life, that work follows you everywhere (home, transportation, vacation, taking a dump, etc.) is a depressing thought.

  • Was it any good, because thats what i've heard. I super excited to ride it now that Dame Judy Dench is narrating

  • Is there a mp3 file of the new spaceship earth music?

  • Am I THAT predictable??? :)

  • Was it Pete answering those questions?

I was starting to guess what he'd press before he did!
