Believe me Sherm knows exactly what he is doing. Judging by other covers he is purposely raising the delay to have fun and experiment.

edge also has done drastically different playing for the same song. eg; mothers of the diss from live chile is nothing like many other versions.

Thanks a lot man. I think I figured out how I arrived at playing it this way. If you listen to the live versions in 1992-93, my way is kind of a mix between Edge's playing and Bono's finger twirling background notes on the acoustic. I guess I wanted all those sounds so I try to sneak them all in.

i don't know why a lot of people says that you are great... you play very well... but you are not playing the song properly as edge does...

and if you play it with a les paul or other kind of guitar it will sound awesome..

I don't mind the input abvehd, but YIKES, I have to admit, "properly" is like a four letter word for me with regard to music. I'm very UNcreative to begin with but I like to mess around with songs other people have written. It's kind of like humming a song to yourself in private. You might change a thing or two but you're still "in" the song. I'm not interested in the exact sound, just the general feeling. I'm a delay addict too, I need counseling. :)

Great playing. The song is there, just masked in delay, which is a little overboard on this take.

Lower the level of the delay. The repeat is too loud. Should be like 50% of the first. If you pulled delay times from a website, its probably for a humbucker guitar with longer sustains. Try shortening delay times.

I've seen and heard this track played live many times. Edge tends to add ad-libs live. I'd say you're about there.

As for the Strat..Check out Under a Blood Red Sky. Edge uses either a black strat or the Gibson Explorer

on earlier U2 songs.

Not bad man, you have all the notes and the playing right. But the effects are off. There's no delay in the intro to the song or in the verses, just at the end in that little solo. Also turn the bass up. Good job though!

Even though it's a cover, you're always very original in the way you play U2 songs. I love it. You don't need the backtrax... actually I'd prefer it without.
