I work with dogs at a daycare seven days a week and I can't understand how they can be called "ticking time bombs." They are some of the most hilarious dogs I know.

Dangerously aggressive dogs are a problem in many breeds, for example the St. Bernard, Chow Chow, and Dachshund. However, these dogs don't tend to attract the dangerous owners who excacerbate the problem.

I never said ANYTHING about banning dogs. Unfortunately dangerous people are always on the look out for the next macho guard dog. In my area we're starting to see a lot of Cane Corsos, Bullmastiffs, and Presa Canarios replacing pit bulls as dog-of-choice for dangerous people. I wouldn't be surprised if in the next few years one of these became the new bad dog, and all of us animal people will have to do the myth debunking and stereotype busting again for yet another breed.

I used to support PETA years ago...then I heard their position on pit bulls. I found it hard to believe so I wrote to them...I got a response that shocked me! It was a fairly long letter saying things like pits were "ticking time bombs" and "what kind of person would want to own that kind of dog?" Needless to say I stopped my contributions right away and am totally ANTI PETA. Look at these sweet dogs...all they needed was love....I get a teary when I see how happy the Vick dogs are now.
He really didn't start it all. It's been going on for years. Various dogs have been in the spot lot, all 'monsters.' Doberman pincher, rottweiler, german shepherd, even the blood Hound. They've been gunning after pits for a while now, Vick only brought the problem to the spotlight. In a way, he actually did dogs good. It made people realize that those dogs can be rehabilitated and that PeTA and HSUS have no right to just kill them off.
There is a bit of truth to this (I do admit that he didn't start all of this. Some sick, bored bastard did - a long time ago). But people are still wasting their time hating PETA. People need to be willing to roll up their sleeves and do their part. That includes staying educated on 'what's going on' in the animal world - if they really care about it.

Great Video! I love all the organizations that help rehome the pitbulls who have been in bad situations. When i got my pit he and his siblings were all very friendly towards humans but all had scars inches long and one of his sisters hips were both broken. They were ten weeks old and the story for the sister was 'she came out of mama like this' which was inhumane to have her with broken hips for TEN WEEKS!!!! Love to every GOOD pitbull owner who trains their pups to be amazing and careing dogs!

I personally found most people I have ever know love their pets as family members. PETA seems to have taken the few horrible abusers and used them as the norm. Peta doesn't care about animals, it's the money they get from stupid people for what they act like they stand for. They rake in 33 mil a year. They actually kill alot of animals and say they are better off that way instead of finding them homes. They don't even try to find homes. They have something like a 90 something percent kill rate. They need to have their tax exempt status taken away and the PEOPLE need to demand that this is done NOW. Write to your politicians.Maybe it will help.

I gave you a 5 Star because this is a Beautiful Video though the thought that these Dogs almost died made me tear up. I'm on my second Rescued Pit Bull and they're the Most Loving Dogs in the World. PIts will only be aggressive or try to fight if they are taught to. Our neighbour has one and some bitter old bitch of a neighbour tried to get it put down. despite the fact the pitbull had been there longer than she had lived at the house and wasn't violent towards people at all.

@Thepaddster That isn't entirely true. The biggest enemy now adays to the pitbull is the pitbull fanatic and the back yard breeder. Genes have a LOT to do with it. That is why RESPONSBLE breeders temperment test. the American Pitbull Terrier has become a very aggressive breed NOT it's fault. Back yard breeders continue to breed ill tempermented dogs which just furthers the problem. A breed standard, well bred, pitbull with have not one Ounce of aggression against humans. this is why i HATE BYB's

Exactly. A responsible, decent owner can only do so much with a poorly-bred dog, just imagine if a bad owner gets that same one- or worse breeds it. Dangerously aggressive dogs are a problem in many breeds, for example the St. Bernard, Chow Chow, and Dachshund. However, these dogs don't tend to attract the dangerous owners who excacerbate the problem.

Common sense tells me that getting rid of a breed won't change the people. ban the pitbull and those same people will just move on to a different breed. Banning is not the answer.

I never said ANYTHING about banning dogs. Unfortunately dangerous people are always on the look out for the next macho guard dog. In my area we're starting to see a lot of Cane Corsos, Bullmastiffs, and Presa Canarios replacing pit bulls as dog-of-choice for dangerous people. I wouldn't be surprised if in the next few years one of these became the new bad dog, and all of us animal people will have to do the myth debunking and stereotype busting again for yet another breed.

PETA is against Pitt people, Bird people, Reptile people and just about anyone who loves their pets. I got banned from their forums for my beliefs about when a animal should be euthanised (geriatric or terminally ill) and when not . Just because a animal cannot be made a fucking vegan is no reason to put it down.Revoke their tax exempt status and let them put their money where their mouth is.

Pits aren't vicious, unless their owners train them to be vicious. This myth exists, because of all the scumbags who breed pits for fighting. Those kinds of people are the worst kind of scum and should be executed (taxpayer dollars shouldn't be wasted on feeding, clothing, and sheltering them).
As for PeTA, it seems like they're perpetuating the myth about pits, so they can have an excuse to euthanize them, while they're trying to make fish look cute to save them. Wtf?!

Really? Why? Because they're a breed known for their loyalty to their owners? Because they are a breed which is great with children? Because people take advantage of their loyalty and honesty and use them in dogfight? Peta works with the demonized-pit-bull ideal to force people to think of them as unstable, when they are one of the most stable-tempered dog breeds there are. Golden Retrievers and Cocker Spaniels are much more prone to biting humans than any of the Pit Bull breeds.

I used to support PETA years ago...then I heard their position on pit bulls. I found it hard to believe so I wrote to them...I got a response that shocked me! It was a fairly long letter saying things like pits were "ticking time bombs" and "what kind of person would want to own that kind of dog?" Needless to say I stopped my contributions right away and am totally ANTI PETA. Look at these sweet dogs...all they needed was love....I get a teary when I see how happy the Vick dogs are now.

He really didn't start it all. It's been going on for years. Various dogs have been in the spot lot, all 'monsters.' Doberman pincher, rottweiler, german shepherd, even the blood Hound. They've been gunning after pits for a while now, Vick only brought the problem to the spotlight. In a way, he actually did dogs good. It made people realize that those dogs can be rehabilitated and that PeTA and HSUS have no right to just kill them off.

There is a bit of truth to this (I do admit that he didn't start all of this. Some sick, bored bastard did - a long time ago). But people are still wasting their time hating PETA. People need to be willing to roll up their sleeves and do their part. That includes staying educated on 'what's going on' in the animal world - if they really care about it.
Pits make great dogs and it is terrible that PETA feels the way they do.

Great Video! I love all the organizations that help rehome the pitbulls who have been in bad situations. When i got my pit he and his siblings were all very friendly towards humans but all had scars inches long and one of his sisters hips were both broken. They were ten weeks old and the story for the sister was 'she came out of mama like this' which was inhumane to have her with broken hips for TEN WEEKS!!!! Love to every GOOD pitbull owner who trains their pups to be amazing and careing dogs!

My dads friend has a beautiful pitbull and she is the most nicest dog I've ever met. Yes pitbulls have a bad rep but most of the time it's the owners fault.
Some people are scared of pitbulls for that reason but their actually ADORABLE with a tough face =)

Great video, it is heart breaking PETA could be so cruel and unfair to animals. They say most humans mistreat animals. I personally found most people I have ever know love their pets as family members. PETA seems to have taken the few horrible abusers and used them as the norm. They are not the norm and these people are a threat to the safety of all beings. We need stiffer laws to get abusers off our streets period.

If we applied that logic to humans, we would just euthanize every cancer patient. After all, they take up too many resources, right? We would also just shoot every homeless child, right? They're beyond repair, too, I guess.

PETA holds sway over many of your local humane societies where working class breeds are *immediately* put to death BECAUSE of their breed. Rotts, Pitts, Shepards, Dobermans, etc. Call your local humane society or animal shelter and tell them this is unacceptable.

Last I heard PETa had nothing to do with the rehabilitaion of these dogs, most was done by a kennel out in UT. The Kennel is on A&e or discovery channel, sorry not sure which one. PETa had nothing to do with these dog rehabilitaion. It was responsible dog owners.

the only way to stop PETA is to stop their tax exempt status. People are pretty much giving PETA money to exterminate pits, whether they realize it or not. There are numerous petitions online that are about taking away PETA's tax exempt status.

PETA took in OVER 3000 dogs and cats in 2006 and raised over 31 MILLION dollars. Guess how many they saved? Ready? TWELVE. Yes really. The people who gave them the money did not expect THAT.
