  • What a lot of nonsense. Young Cons are in the minority here in the U.K. Next time you're here meet some socialists. It'll widen your perspective. :)

  • The British youth is very libertarian socialist, not at all conservative. Besides the entire British political spectrum is shifted to the left. The Conservative Party ran with the slogan "cut the deficit not the NHS."

By American standards, the NHS is a Marxist invention, yet it is has strong support from the right. Britain politically is extremely pragmatic, the battle between ideologies has finished.

Also I have never met a young conservative with a sense of humour.

  • The youth in Britain are in no way conservative

  • You made it sound as if young conservatives are somehow better than young liberals. They are all people and the merits of the ideologies they support have nothing to do with their personal qualities. And to quote a British politician (from memory):

"If at 20 years, you are not a liberal, you have no heart, if at 40 you are not a conservative, you have no brain" W. Churchill

  • "There is nothing British about the BNP" - Andy MCNab

it seems more like a "immigration party", it's becoming a trend all over Europe.

the moment the economy suffers, everyone just starts to blame "outsiders"

  • Wow. Well THIS is a load of crap.

  • So many thing I could say about this video...but I want to point out one particular thing he got wrong entirely. He said that the kids who grew up under a Labour government became more right-wing thinking. That's simply not the case. Of all the politically-aware people my own age that I know, the vast minority have right-wing or even Conservative views. I would even say it's unusual for this to be the case. Just wanted to point that one out.

  • Hey whats up! I loved your channel!

Its cool. Check out mine! Stay in touch. Hope you got my friend request! Maybe you can sub thanks This is for everybody that see this too

  • imhallowarren: spot on!!! exactly the cae.

  • Alright! There's hope for Britain yet!

  • The Uk Conservative party are about as right as the democrats in America. The closest party to the republications here is the BNP

  • And the problem with the BNP?

  • I wish we had something close to the BNP here in North America.

  • Yeah you do its caleed the KKK

  • @imhallowarren You got it mixed up with the DNC and the NAACP retard

  • How wonderfully american are you going to call be a douche. Btw in the uk the youth is brought up with the private eye, have i got news for you and mock the week. Also the daily show is big over here as well.

  • your a fuckwit, the bnp are socialists, whereas the republicans are borderline libertarian. the closest party to them in the UK is UKIP.

  • bnp are not socialists as they DISCRIMINATE ON RACE!! socialism has its foundations on marxism dumbass

  • Anyone from 18 Doughty Street? I like there video "A World Without America."

  • Americans are nobs

  • Everyone still hates the tories. Sorry.

The only reason they stand a chance next year is because

1, labour are turning too authoritarian, so labour voters are switching to vote liberal democrat or even conservative in protest.

2, the papers are all on the right.

  • The average age of members of the Conservative party in the UK is 62. I guess that says it all.

  • LOL. You never cease to make me laugh.

I'd imagine that the "conservatives" you met in the UK probably thought you were pretty extreme in your views (their "right" is fairly "left" in our country).

Or, they were supporters of the BNP. And in that case, the fact you're bragging about speaking at one of their events is absolutely hilarious.

BTW - when I say "hilarious", I mean it in a "OMG, that's DISGUSTING!!" kind of way..... like 2 girls 1 cup. That's what your ideals amount to.

  • Congrats on your recent opportunities. Never forget the patriotic service you provide.

  • labour is a fascist left wing government now heavily leaning towards totalitarianism in their new policies.

The only reason more young people are considering themselves conservative is that the other option is shit to be frank

yes there are democrats but their not a big enough party to threaten the top two partys

britain doesnt really have a choice anymoreof right or left wing everyone is right wing

  • not to mention excandersham the lib dems are very stupid to what the nation wants and the policies are kinda "insane" XD

  • i mean their slogan was "dont vote for us if you dont like change"

    yeh........................................

id vote for them if kennedy was leader i liked him i didn't mind he had a drinking problem he had more personality than any of these puppets

  • yea he would have prob managed to get the group alot better off then they are really. TBH with how they are acting i think the comics got it right, they are just terrified they may have to actually do some work and so are damaging themselves when they can XD

  • Great to hear. Maybey we'll trade people. We'll send our liberals to England, and they can move here.

Maybey vice versa, thats open to debate.

  • Keep'em comming.

seem's all the last few remarks are from frustrated liberals. to put it politely.

  • Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

    Oh you are serious?

  • Young Conservatives are bunch of toffs

  • Worst thing is the conservatives are by their leaders statement "the party of the NHS". The torrie's fucked this country, and they always will. The 80s just prove that point.

  • In fact "liberals" in Europe are considered as libertarians in USA. Liberal basically means left wing in social issues but right wing in economics.

  • I think your proof for the right of speech are what someone would consider a natural ability. such as thought process and speech. The Others are made to protect us from gov't or each other, but not ourselves, preventing a nanny state situation. More of a personal responsibility issue. Hope that helps

  • Towards the comment about how youth are more susceptible to rebellion against their current authority figures... DUH. But there's far more to it than that. I'd love to have a one on one with this guy. Not an argument, but an exchange. Don't any of you get any ideas.

  • Democrat or Republican equals pretty much the same thing: different representatives and perhaps different methods to achieve the same goal, both parties suck up to the corporations.

Both are created to divide the public and distract us from the real issues that should concern us, and that is the erosion of our freedom.

  • lol @ generalising the entire UK on the basis of one conference. HAHAAH

  • Biggest MYTH (bought and) sold in the last 30 years:

Conservative/Republican = Less spending and smaller government. lol

I will NEVER again vote for a mainstream "conservative" (Reagan/Bush41/Bush43) who **"TALKS"** about fiscal discipline and less government.

We've seen this movie too many times. You can wrap yourself in the flag for only so long.

Mainstream conservative / Republican = Corporate sellout.

  • I share your frustration, but what's the alternative? Vote for the tax and spend Democrats? Not a chance; we saw how that game ends in California.

We have to change the party by Republican-only primaries. Remember, Reagan and H.W. Bush had a Democrat Congress when they were in office. We'll never know what either of them could have done with a Republican Congress. We've gotta throw out the RINOs in the primaries; that's our only chance to save the country.

  • It should be noted that the "liberal" (D) congress spent LESS than Reagan asked for - EVERY year! There is no doubt that Reagan "TALKED" about less spending (like Bush & W), but ALL of HIS budgets were red ink BEFORE they even got to congress! I made the mistake of falling for it in '80 but Mickey Mouse would have won THAT year.

Concerning "congress", Republicans did control the Senate from 1981 to 1987.

    I'll remain independent.

  • Conservatives, young? riiight. The Young Conservatives yes but so what's the point so are Young Labour. They control nothing, Daneil Hannen is a lying hypocrit and no-one controls pop-culture or the blogs. Anyway a belated welcome, and farewell.

  • search poll tax , thats the goverment i was brought up in as well as old labour , conservatives have always had a sense of humor they can also possess a sick one too heh will never give in to the poor and the needy ;)

  • Good, now do the same with climate change, ow no, you're being payed..

  • labour party would be the democrats of the u.s.a, there the more leftist side of the politcal spectrum

  • I am really happy for you that you made it to England. Have you considered traveling anywhere else...Beirut, Buenos Aires, Berlin, Tashkent, HCM city, Calcutta...

  • Why do you call him that?

  • I call them like I see em

  • Congratulations on being invited to speak in the UK. Hope to see you speak publicly more here in the U.S. I'm sure your critics are jealous because they'll never make it past YouTube. Oh wait, that Cenk guy from "TheYoungTurks" made it on a national news interview and got his balls handed to him while he was drumming up one of his whacky left-wing conspiracies. lol.

  • The left isn't funny in any country. They're all just a bunch of cynical and arrogant elitists.

  • Let's import them over here!

  • BNP is probably the only sane political party in Britain.

  • What's right wing in our media? The BBC certainly isn't...

  • ...What?

So the conservatives problem is that they make government bigger, but you cheer on the liberals who make the government bigger, because they're only trying to clean up the mess.

That's like trying to wash my car with mud, and then congratulating myself on how clean it is!

  • yeah, we have a sense of humor... that's why you were invited to speak...

  • I.D.G.A.F

  • God bless you

  • That's why it's important to stay true to fundamentals of the party.

  • I am from the UK, and I have to say its a bit rich calling the labour government corrupt after the way the tories acted through the last few decades and still do. I think you need to take off your right wing glasses, and research our politics with a more open mind.

  • Lee

Do you accept the conservative position that Individual Rights come from God?

I've never heard you comment on Religion other than the small statement you made in a video a long time ago saying that you don't care if conservatives believe that Inalienable rights come from God or (not exactly sure what you said but something like) flying monkies in the sky. The bottom line is that they believe in those rights.

Or, do you believe those rights are a necessary precondition of human nature

  • He will not discuss religion.

  • Who cares? Religion is delusional.

  • I dont care. Twiggy was asking a question and I was responding. Thanks for your unneeded 2 cents though.

  • Your very welcome, you'll need it.

  • It's not "conservative position", it's the founders position. Just read the 1st paragraph in the declaration of independence.

By they way , this shouldn't threaten you , even if you don't believe in god. If your rights are granted to you by another man, or a sheet of paper, then they can be taken away or changed at anytime. If they come from "god" , they are yours, forever. It's a protection.

  • I don't really want to discuss this with you, I more watned to hear Lee but...

firstly, why do you assume I don't think the founders are conservatives?

Secondly, why do you assume that basing your philosophic fundamentals in a non objective, unproveable beginning point makes it protected? If anything, since you cant proove your most basic of beliefs withuot asking someone to simply believe you are right doesn't that make it a weak argument? Wouldn't logical proveable facts be more protection?

  • Rights aren't proveable or inalienable unless you believe in god...if there is no god, your only rights come from what society decides they are. This is subject to popular opinion , and can change at any time. Therefore "rights" don't really exist in a godless world , only things we are temporarily granted permission to do.

  • this is why I don't want want to talk to you. Your argument that facts are not facts unless you believe in god is a totally idiotic statement. If you're the only person in the world that believes that 2 + 2 = 4 does that make you wrong? What if everyone believed that 2 + 2 = 5 ? Does that make it so? Are facts really subjective to opinion? If you're the only person in the world that understands a fundamental fact of reality, does that mean its not true? Your statement above says yes.

  • There is a big difference between Math and "rights".

You can prove to me that 2 +2 =4 by giving me two apples , then giving me two more apples , and showing me that I now have 4. If you can prove the existence of a right that is independent of god AND government , then I'd love to see you try.

For Example , how do you prove a right to free speech ?? Because OUR government says you you have it , despite hundreds of other governments and people that say you don't?? That's hardly proof.

  • Are you serious about wanting to have this debate?

It will take more than 500 characters in this little box, but if you're honestly interested in this send me a personal message.

  • here's proof 2 +2 = 5

    answers . yahoo . com/question/index?qid=20090411084749AAGRA5l

    *take out the spaces

  • atleast you expose your fundamental lack of integrity to truth, justice, and reality openly and plainly for all eyes to see.

To actually argue that 2 + 2 = 5 just shows how little people should trust any fact that you bring to the table and claim as "Truth." You obivously believe that there is no such thing as truth, or facts, so why should I believe anything you say? Since you've underminded the very existence of truth itself, what is left?

    God. right?

    give me a break. idiot.

  • i have no idea what your position is on anything i've said o__O i've merely presented a proof on how 2 +2 = 5, which is logically consistent with our current numerical structure.

  • here's a little warning xblindx, when you read a 'proof' that seems compelling on a point that is completely counter-intuitive, try thinking for yourself before assuming that that 'proof' is genuine. Or, if you are not capable of independent thought (as i strongly suspect) try printing that proof, showing it to a nursery school math teacher and listening carefully to her explanation of exactly why you are a fucking dipshit. pwnd

  • I have nothing else to say to you, except learn some basic axioms of existence before you try and open your mouth. (or click some keys on your computer)

If that doesn't work, take Dann advice and go back to preschool math.

  • lighten up buddy.

  • why the fuck are we talking about God and truth in this videos??? i made no such argument of it to begin with. and how is it obvious that i don't believe in truth or facts? you're a fucking moron.

  • don't reply to my posts then. You're the one who jumped in to claim 2 + 2 is in fact sometimes 5.

I simply wanted Lee to talk about the concept of individual rights, why humans have them, how we've recognized these rights, and what gives it validity.

I didn't want a response from any of you losers, simply wasting my time with your garbage (Which is clear to anyone who read the last 10 or so posts on this video.)

    How about it HTWW

make a video that talks about philosophy instead of news

  • 'how is it obvious that i don't believe in truth or facts?'

    you said 2+2=5

try counting your money: put two dollars with two dollars and then go buy a five dollar product then call the shop keeper a stupid cunt because he tells you that you've only offered him 4 dollars. see how it works? there is an objective reality in which 2+2=4 and when you try to claim otherwise you are denying reality and therefore truth, facts and logic. All that you have left is faith.

    End of conversation.

  • Any chance the BNP was represented there at the Young Britons Foundation? You see, I ask this because I checked up on their Facebook page, and one thing jumped out very quickly. They describe the left-wing bias to inspire "Anti-Britishness". It simply reminds me of the BNP slogan "British jobs for British Citizens" which pretty much claims that the other political parties are "Anti-British".

I also ask this because the two represent "traditional values"

  • No!

The BNP policy for policy is a Left-wing group.

  • The BNP is just a joke.

  • 1/5 people are now going to vote BNP. The only joke is you globalists!

  • Are you joking? Economically, yes. Socially speaking, absolutely not.

  • They have aspects of both. The phrase 'right-wing' has fascist overtones in Europe, whereas right-wing in America tends to refer to Libertarianism.

The National Socialist German Workers' Party is a good example of this distinction. Words like 'socialist' and 'workers' are not right-wing words in America, but words like 'National' and 'German' are right-wing words in Europe.

The extreme right in America is anarchism, and the extreme right in Europe is military nationalism and fascism.

  • Economically they are left-wing. Socially they are a fascist group. They aren't a party based on economics HTWW, they are based on hardlined socially conservative values (Since they believe so much in fascist ideology, left-wing economic views come naturally to them in this instance).

Also I must ask why you never talked about the march on Washington (Not the 9/12 one). Sorry for responding so late, but I've been away.

  • @HowTheWorldWorks .......What? BNP is Britains only hope.

  • I wish you could have gotten video of some of these young conservatives. I would enjoy experiencing their sense of humor first hand. I love the vids, Keep up the good work

  • WHO-DEY!

    Hail Britannia!

    Vote B.N.P.

    Save Yourselves! Save Your Nation!

ISSUES! NOT race! & Both our gov's.

    Have some Really Bad Issues!

    2nd Amendment!

Without 2nd, THERE ARE NO OTHERS!

    DEO VINDICE!

  • We have young people here like that too though more moderate. Glad because we need them bad! They are fed up. Its probably the only good to come out of public education in a long time.

  • 99mimer,

    making food and disinfecting ....

    Someone has to do that....

Are you being snobbish against the under-priviledged? Personally, I thank them for a thankless job. Maybe you should too

  • Lee I think it speaks more to the general dislike of corruption in government. It doesn't always matter what system is in place, but how good of a job that government does. England has it's share of problems which can be traced back to ideology, when the reality is as much about corruption as it's is drawing party lines.

  • one of the most popular shows over there is top gear where jeremy clarkson is always bashing the nanny state and speaking his conservative mind. i love that show

  • Umm I think that you were hanging round quite a select group of young people if they were all conservatives. Try going to the main majority of young people in the UK i.e. the working class. The only young people who are involved in politics are the rich because they're parents have the time and money to get them involved and natrually the rich are more conservative and the poor are more liberal. Therefore you have a very distorted view of England. Basically....... you're wrong.

  • Socialists & Class Warfare -- Life Partners

  • Oh wow what an absoloutely fantastic retort. Thats like me going:

    CoNsErVatIVES + RetArdAtion = Life PartnERs I WIN!!!111ONE!!!!!

    You're an idiot.

  • Your baseless rant is nothing "like" my relevant political observation. Your post was pure class warfare.

    Try again, genius.

  • No, not at all. Also why you have qouted "like" confuses me as most people do that on youtube to point out an error whereas I used it in the correct sense as a simile.

Anyway I am not saying anything bad about upper classes or conservatives (yes that simile was just an example of how stupid your comment was) I was stating that HowTheWorldWorks misconstrued English society and our youth.

    Try again, "genius".

  • You needn't have repackaged your fantasy because it was crystal clear the first time. The fact that others don't suffer from it isn't evidence of anyone else misconstruing anything.

Whether in England or the USA, socialist myths are no less divorced from reality, and as socialists everywhere, you keep leaning on them to foment class warfare.

If you don't like it when people notice your vile behavior, then change your behavior, socialist.

  • What are you going on about, you really think that the majority of young people in England are conservatives? If you do then you seriously need to find help because news flash I AM YOUNG PERSON IN ENGLAND and quite shockingly I hang around with other YOUNG PEOPLE IN ENGLAND from an array of social classes and all BUT the highest classes are mostly Labour supporting but also don't have an active role in politics. You can choose to be ignorant or just accept the truth, crazy person.

  • I think he means that being Conservative in the UK is not seen as a stigma as being Republican is in the US, which is a very BAD thing... It's considered EVIL to be a Republican.

  • TheEnglishBlokey

There is a kernal of truth to what HTWW's states here. I don't know what type of people you know. But, many young people in the U.K. are fed up with the Labour policies, the lies , the political correctness and feminism. There is growing discontent among the young. They are fed up with Islam and increasing state powers and higher and higher taxes. Have you tried to by your first home yet? I just have. It's a real struggle

  • Yeh I see what your talking about but really that sounds like you support UKIP/BNP (when I say BNP i mean they're views on immigration not that whole racism thing lol) I am only 15 so no I havn't tried buying a home and I know how difficult it is because I have 2 cousins aged 21 and 24. I agree that Labour is, lets just say shit but the conservatives are no better! Liberal Democrats/UKIP/BNP are never going to be in power so they dont matter, me personally, I fully support UKIP, fuck the EU :D

  • I am conservative because the free market system under the law works best for maintaining liberty and increasing wealth creation.... No- other reason. I support the UKIP party because they are conservative libertarians. David Cameron is just nice hair and smiles, lol. The two major things Cameron promises, I believe he will have to recant 1. Offer a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty

    2. End the British legal validation for Sharia court rulings

  • I agree actually, if sharia law is passed over here, im gone. No joke.

  • Yep, I agree. It's crazy days when we even have to discuss that possibility.

  • Were can I go to get information on Sharia Law because wiki and other people sugar coat it to sound like it would just be normal laws? Thanks for any help you can give me.

  • Oh also when did the class system become far apart after it was closing up for a long time, when one of the most extreme conservative prime ministers came into power, Margerat Thatcher.

That says alot about us darn socialist always banging on with that social warfare. You my mentally inequipped antithesis, are a fool.

  • you use words that are over your head and out of your league

  • it just so happens that the rich in america are liberals being that the parti with the most rich people and the richest people are democrats...there for you are wrong

  • Go Nigel Farage...... UKIP all the way.....

  • I don't know who told you that conservatives "control the pop culture" in the UK but whoever said that is an IDIOT.

Leftists control the media. Just like leftists control almost all media.

Doren, there isnt some kind of tidal wave towards conservatism happening in the UK.

  • All that's happening, is that the bedraggled voting masses of middle England are simply lurching lethargically towards a watered down, green friendly, nominally conservative party simply because they are sick of Gordon Brown and Labour, and Brown bashing has become a popular fad.

It's not a ringing endorsement of conservatism by any means. People here would never vote for a true conservative, they have all been brainwashed by the Buggers Broadcasting Communism from birth!

  • No, A womans butt(or a mans: depending on your sexual leanings) is a 'TUSHY' . Touche', as in old swordfighting movies, means 'GOOD MOVE! On the other hand, butts do have some pretty good moves too. God, I love a good back and forth dialoge about important topics. Have a great day and keep demanding your point of view :)

  • think of the human mind as a vault and traveling is kinda like the combination

  • No! They're stealing our secrets!

  • All these discussions on UK politics is mute since sovereignty will soon be handed over to a federal european union. Its really a case of choose your socialisim, adhering to centralised directions from brussels.

I guarantee no matter what crap Dan Hannan said over the weekend the conservatives, or any other party in power in the UK, will do nothing that jepordises the EU project thus demonstrating the true value of democracy in the UK and europe as a whole.

  • Fellow Tublers,

The system may use the same words, but they are a different society. Within the cycle of each culture there will be problems on any side of political partisanship.

We did war against the British MONARCHY. Do we, well, YOU want to save the Queen? Start paying three (3) times more, for a gallon of petrol. That is what they call gasoline.

Conservative G.W.Bush got us very deep into debt. HTWW said it is amazing there. I disagree. He is visiting.

    It be it.

  • WOW, you mean to tell me that when kids are growing up they naturally form a disdain for the authority figures/people in power, no matter who they are or where they are on the political spectrum? Great work Inspector Holmes!

  • I'm not so sure that the UK's youth are leaning to the right due to the incumbent Labour government. At least, evidence of this can't be found in British pop-cultural tastes.

We love Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert in Blighty, and our own most popular comedians are lefties. Think of Bill Bailey, or Eddie Izzard.

There is certainly a sense of disillusionment with the current government, but we are yet to see a consequent surge of conservativism in the young.

  • Good for you Lee, as

while we are currently in a heap of doo-doo,

    the UK,

has been in the crapper for years.

They need all the help they can get.

  • dan is awesome, he should be in UKIP, gonna be honest, the cons here are shite and basically liebour lite, ukip are the real torys now.

  • Considering the damage that neo-cons (religious right, war mongers, global interventionists, anti liberty & sellouts to corporatism) and the neo-liberals (statists, socialists, collectivists, communists, anti liberty and also sellouts to corporatism) have all done to this country we are way over due for a lot of young people to go libertarian in backlash to it all.

    Have a good flight.

  • UK:

    Conservative

    Liberal

    Conservative

    USA:

    Conservative

    Liberal

    Shit

  • I don't think liberals have much of a sense of humor.

  • They do but they play it much more to a stoner demographic, nothing wrong with that, that really does seem like the direction we're going in >.>

  • Sounds like the pendulum is swinging right in the UK.

You look British in this video, will you speak with any accent now?

  • Paternal Provisions

    Age 0 - 18

As long as you live under our roof & we make provisions for everything, you will do as we say

    Government Provisions

    Age 18 - Dearly Departed

As long as you live under our rule & we make any provisions, to the directly proportionate degree, you will do as we say

    Freedom's Provisions

Age of the Yankee Doodle Dandy Daddies - 1776

As long as "we the people" provide the government with their tax payed salaries & delegated, limited powers, we're the hang'n rope BOSS

  • parliamentary democracy FTW!!!!!

  • i hear they have no ceiling fans in the uk, is that true?

  • If they do, do they spin backwards?

  • No, but they do in Australia

  • Wow! Cool! Did you also know there are 4,000,000 cameras monitoring the streets of London? They are so free, it's awesome!!!

  • @Fifty

How high should they raise taxes on the wealthiest 1% in order for them to "pay their way?"

How high is too high? And how do you justify that?

  • I hope you did, too, Lee. Glad you seemed to enjoy the trip. It makes me feel good at heart that there's someone out there with the guts to stand up for what they believe in, when what they believe isn't always popular.

  • Thats so cool, I've always wanted to travel, I wanna go to Japan or some place a white guy like me will stick out, plus hot asian chicks. But ya My sister traveled Europe now I wanna go some day.

  • huh that is rather interesting

  • I love Dan Hannan.

  • Hannan is the Mannan. Lee Doren reprazentin'.

  • people of the future will be libertarian

  • RE: amalwaysawsome: I second that, the future is libertarian. Lovers of freedom will unite against the tyranny of the left.

RE: littlebier8: Dan Hannan is also a reader of Ayn Rand; although I don't think he is an objectivist I'd say that many of his views have been shaped. After reading 'the virtue of selfishness', you can never look at the world in the same way again.

Regarding the video; NZ is moving to the right, more libertarians are vocal instead of hiding from public view.

  • God bless the UK!!!

  • hurray for youth

  • Too true we do. Though, I vote UKIP.

  • that looks like an expensive room

  • could you post a video of your speech?

  • its fun watching the uk government yell at each other

  • OK but I don't think they have much power at all in Britain as conservatism is in a tailspin. Just like the US basically. The race card over here is bad - there it is gigantic.

  • cheers

  • Its true, I know many conservatives in britain. But i think the conservatives here are usually stupid or have just grown to despise the labour government. I think most working class people in wales anyway are left leaning, mainly because of what thatcher did about all the pits over here.

  • RE: acledmaiden

I think it has less to do with what she did but actually how she went about doing it. If you explain what the situation is and the workers know why something had to be done, the reaction wouldn't have been as bad. If you leave people out in the cold they'll feel as though they've been given the royal screw job by the powers that be.

  • why are you basing your intire view of the uk on a few days spent with a very select group of people?

surly even you must relise this is completely unreliable

  • Seeing as how you've only been in the uk a short time i don't think your view of our politics is right at all. Media dominance? Our commentators are a varied bunch but no matter their own views their shows are never a mouthpiece for them. Paxman is probs a conservative but you rarely see it with his treatment of guests.Andrew 'Red' Marr gave Brown a proper grilling, and got a bad reaction about it. Y.B.F isn't really on the radar as a conservative entity, Conservative Future is more reflective.

  • Lee, you're aware that the UK is predominately Conservative? The majority of ruling Governments in this country have been under the Conservative Party. Britain is very much a Conservative country; we're pretty cynical :P

  • Explain why the young in the US are pissed off at the conservatives? Perhaps the bailout and Bush? There is no difference between either party. Both see justification of point a gun to enforce law and theft.

Supporting the state means you accept violence as a means to an end.

  • @ Zull Because the media and the leftist education system in the United States has been telling the young people that George W. Bush was a conservative president. Obviously, he wasn't, but youth tend to be lazy about fact finding. Add to that the natural tendency for youth to rebel and you have a s*&^load of young people thinking leftist politics are "cool". Only difference between now and the 60s radicals is the old radicals are now in power in the education/entertainment/government cabal.

  • "Because the media and the leftist education system in the United States has been telling the young people that George W. Bush was a conservative president."

    lol

Blame it on the media and the state run education system.

You don't think part of the blame should go on so called conservatives who not only voted for Bush but defended his expansion of big government and domestic spying on American citizens while he was on office?

  • @ReaganFan . Yes, I blame conservatives for selling out and for watering down their message with liberal policies and statist methodologies. However, that's sort of my point, the non-conservatives in the Republican party had control *still do and the media/education/statist cabal are happy to deceive young people into believing that this is "true conservatism" and its epic fail. The question was why are the youth pissed off at "conservatives". I said (IOW) those ain't real conservatives.

  • and lolz right back atcha

  • I live in the UK and this just isn't true. Most young people have left wing views if at all.

Politics just isn't anywhere near as retarded as it is in america.

  • why did the conservatives just get voted out of office in britain then?

  • They were last in power in 1997.

  • labor is getting screwed, conservatives will win next round.

  • still a long three years left o__O

    reeeeeeeeeeeeeally... reeeeally... long....

    unemployment sucks ass.

  • i love how you just plucked that fact right out of the air.

  • all things considered then, does it really matter if we look at things in black and white anymore? (socialist vs conservative) aren't these archaic ways of thinking considering both economic ideologies function and sustain their countries somehow at the end of the day? if anything a perfect harmony of the two creates great stability.

  • What are you smoking, Theres a old saying, Give a inch and they will take a mile.
