  • Einfach nur gut. Bei mir mit Gänsehauteffekt.

  • Does anybody know the name of the peice of music in this ad?

  • @lottythecat Ford Nocturnal Symphony

  • I continue to be amazed by your talent! Great work guys!!!!

  • Best Use For A Ford Focus Ever!

  • Just like Yamaha XD

  • i don't know about that, i think Jeremy Clarkson could get pretty imaginative

  • What a very clever advertisement.

  • For the record, I know the folks that played on this ad and the contractor that hired everyone for the gig. There were, I believe, two studio sessions to pre-record the music using the 'car-instruments', then one day of live filming to create the commercial. So, yes, they're overdubbing, but it's 100% using these 'instruments'.

  • Thank you for that mate, whether or not it had been real which I believed it was anyway this is a very imaginative concept and one of the best uses of a ford focus I've ever seen!

  • Does he do the new 2009 advert?

  • Creepy

  • According to Peter Kirn (look him up on the web)

"...the ensemble itself does play live; thats the point. Crave had wondered if the instruments were just for show. Theyre not.

The assumption had been that this was footage of these instruments with conventional instruments providing the sound, and thats not true. The instruments you see in the ad are the instruments you hear in the soundtrack."

  • I don't buy it. 1) were they really playing, the video would be better synced with the instrument featured. Not the whole time, but once in a while would be nice. 2)getting that many musicians to play THAT well on those instruments, with such overacted emotional display, is the ultimate hint.

  • And, check out the "London Tour" video. Certainly not the same caliber of recording, but obviously NOT the same quality of natural sound either.

    Nope.

  • Yes, it's overdubbed. However, that doesn't mean that it wasn't played on those instruments. I've seen posts from several musicians who recorded the overdubs and they make it quite clear that they were using these instruments. The "London Tour" video is live, and is fraught with intonation problems. So what? You're surprised that a studio version sounds better than a live version? What rock have you been living under?

What you hear is produced by those instruments.

  • Great, I just think that's really nice use of a car... but I also wonder how many cars did they used...

  • I assume those who think music was played on the "instruments" shown, or wonder if it was, had tongues firmlly in cheeks. The alternative would be sad.

  • Yes, just wonderful! A big 5 and favorited!

  • wonderfull...

  • its good

  • who plays this song.??????

  • so danny elfman

  • i hate this advert its soooooo irratating it makes band etc look really dum and why would that prove that the cars good AND hoo really cares

  • beautiful song

  • very good:D

  • Awesome ....Whatever Ford paid the Agency it was money well spent...I don't know one car from another but I remembered this..

  • wow

i dont really like ford but this video is brilliant

    awesome very awesome

  • Are they really playing with that instruments?

  • yup, sure are.

  • Sorry folks. it's a nice idea but I'm fairly certain the music you hear in this ad is overdubbed. I play the cello - which is the instrument with the melody line in this song. When I saw the windshield wiper used as a bow, I knew what we're hearing is not what those instruments sound like. Metal does not resonate the same way wood does and none of the instruments have pick-ups (like on an electric guitar.) Those mics are too far away from those instruments to pick up what little sound there is.

  • Looks like instruments dreamed up by Dr. Suess

  • its cool and creative =]

  • great clip :-) I wonder how any one can have the idea of playing something like that on parts of a ford focus :-) awesome^^

  • i cnt stop watching it because it so good

  • the music here is shit good lol

  • nice video

  • Brilliant!

  • is this johnathon creek theme tune?

    x

  • yes the only commercial truly worth to see.i will remember this ford and maybe i ll buy a car later !!!

  • i would like to know what song is this...

    this advertisement is cool

  • you're clearly wrong because this video has had alot of views

  • just because it has been viewed doesn't mean everyone loves it or its awesome

  • Fair point, but the rating is 5*, so most people like it. And why would anyone come to the video if they hate it.

Oh, and its spelt 'who' not 'hoo'.

I suppose it helps if you have a little understanding of classical music, or any musical theory knowledge. The advert itself may not be too interesting or exciting, but to make such great music from pieces of a car is incredible.

  • I would come to see what other people thought-not because I like it

also its just a comment and an advert...so this is going to be my last comment otherwise we will get into it war style

  • I think you misunderstood me. I was not insulting you. Just making some statements.

  • Not to be too obnoxious -- but if you are going to correct someone's spelling errors, be sure not to make mistakes of your own. "Spelt" is spelled s-p-e-l-l-e-d. I believe spelt is a flour substitute.

  • Well, you're right and you're wrong.

"Spelt" is the traditional British way of spelling it. "Spelled" is the American spelling. "Spelled" is now creeping more and more into UK English. However it is, it should be pronounced "Spelt". It is the same with Learnt and Learned.

  • Actually after I wrote it occurred to me that might be the case.Heck of a neat commercial anyway, isn't it?

  • good. do it!

  • qué mamada!

    eso es genial!!!

  • Amazing

  • wow. This is the first commercial I've watched in over 22 years. Well worth the wait!

  • how could u avoid advertisements for 22 years, they are everywhere

  • I think he might've stuck to BBC for 22 years?

That or Prison, but they have TV now so I don't know :P

  • che bella

  • awesome!!!

  • Whoever had this idea, he is absolutely-fucking-brilliant. 5*

  • this is great!!! I love FORD

  • I love the part where they make the instruments! Up till seeing this I always thought that this advert was just being played by ordinary musical instruments. How wrong I was.
