  • wow this sounds restored compared to the album i have of urchin

  • Smith turned down Maiden in '79 to carry on with this band. It wasn't a silly decision at the time. Urchin rocked.

  • That riff is up there with Radar Love for Motorcycle epic-ness :D

  • Adrian you ROCK!

  • Adrian was also singing in this band

  • God. Nuff said.

  • This is the kind of tunes I play all the time.

Well someone have to do it, right?

    Thanks for sharing Samson666.

  • Eddie dances in the shower to this song \m/

  • man, this song makes wanna ride a harley on the highway with a sexy woman behind me go adrian you are a god!!!!

  • 1:48..

  • He sounds a bit like Steve Marriott on this.

  • tirdfish you lucky fiend!

  • adrian's skill and legend is as high as jimmy page and jimmy hendrix he's as good as ingie malmsteen.

  • Adrian Smith is such a god that my oldest son shares the name. Naturally my last name being Smith I had to call him Adrian. What else would a Maiden fan do.

  • @Bottomsmells Hello there Mr Smith, another Mr Smith here, waiting for a son *shakes fist at daughter* lol

  • Adrian Smith didn't play the solo on this - It was Mo Coyne

  • LOL I still have a 7' copy of this and 'she's a roller'.

  • @Tirdfish you want to keep hold of them aswell..there worth a few quid

  • at 3:20 he's posing with the members of The Iron Maidens

  • How did you get this one with such great quality?? I can only find a version that sounds like an old recording

  • i got this copy from a CD i bought off eBay from a seller in Greece a year or 2 ago ,there was a few on there the other week thinking about it

i have both the original singles as well

  • 1000*********************

  • SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great song. Blimey, Adrian does well talking like a North American too. I must say, many people from the UK are good at putting on different accents.

  • @8526821 Adrian doesn't sing on this. He sings on She's a Roller though. David Hall sings on this one (he quit after the recording of this song/album/ep)

  • It's fuckin Judas-Priest inspired !

  • @jbgauthier77 Yeah i hear some older priest stuff but i also hear a Thin Lizzy and some other stuff like Deep Purple. Adrian is one of my favorite guitarists of all time.

  • lovely music

  • Adrian sings on a single called she's a roller

  • Adrian's riffs make me wet

  • way too much information

  • you liked it

  • maybe so

there was that one time in band camp......... lol

  • Me too

    And i'm a boy

  • @1clockworkorange God I hope you're not a dude...

  • @UrukTheRed I'm not a dude.

  • @1clockworkorange Well that's good.

  • at 2:07 you can see adrians classic jackson from the 1986 to 1988 live era! I never thought to see this one again

  • that jackson is stoled in Greece-Atena on the gig 2007.g. on somewhere backin time tour...that guitar is unicat

  • no, this one wasnt stolen in athens. his new jackson signature was stolen

  • Adrian is a good singer but this is not him, this singer is better than adrian, Adrian is a guitar god :)

  • Adrian singing here lol

  • not sure! but i dont think this is adrian singing!!!

  • I love Adrians voice

  • is dave murray playing on this

  • no he's not.

  • He's got a very classical rock voice. It's great!

  • hes actually not bad of a singer

  • god bless heavy riffs and solos taht adrian make ^^

  • I loved Urchin the clip from 12 Wasted Years back in the late 80's hooked me, did any of this stuff ever get compiled or released on CD??

  • The guitar melody line around 4:00 is almost a note for note rip off of UFO's 'Rock Bottom' (breakdown / solo section). LOL

Adrian was definitely a big time Schenker fan.

  • I never get tired of this tune!!! who was the drummer?.. and did he go onto any other bands?

  • the drummers name was Barry Tyler and was in urchin from 1974 to 1980,not sure what happend to him after that

    cheers

  • thanks for the info mate!!!

  • I saw Urchin many times in 1977. They used to play at a pub in Bellingham almost every Saturday night. I remember this song and a ballad called "Lady" about a guy who has a relationship with a mannequin in Harrods and then gets beaten to death. Quirky in the extreme.

I'm sure that Adrian was also influenced by Michael Schenker also. The other guitarist on this is definitely Maurice.

  • WOW you saw urchin?? thats something man!.. a long time before i was around this!.. i can definitely hear the schenker infulence here!.. class!

  • Adrian Smith!

  • Fuck yeah ADRIAN IS MY FUCKING GOD!!!

  • The singer sounds a bit like the guy from diamond head.

  • i love this guy xD Urchin was a great band

  • sounds like early j priest, but i like the singing better :)

  • you're great adrian!for sure the best guitarist of iron maiden up Smith!

  • dave murray ... is ...

  • no...

  • youve never heard early priest. its the exact same tone. sounds like sad wings of destiny .. or sin after sin

  • In fact, one of Urchin earliest songs was a cover of Judas 'Rocka Rolla'.

  • ahah that so cool. I cant beleive I got a thumbs down for saying that.

  • Whoa... you're totally right. I was thinking the same thing when I heard this.

  • Sounds a bit like old Pentagram. Great!

  • Some sage advice: When snorkling, don't ever touch an urchin.

  • awesome song and good work collecting vintage pics and putting it together.

  • I guess Adrian?

  • This is Adrian's band but long time before Dave joined Maiden, he and Adrian made what turned out to be this band but that was after Dave had joined Iron Maiden except for once. Dave did leave Maiden for a couple of weeks in the 70's because he was pissed and then he jammed along with Urchin but Steve convinced him to come back to Maiden. So he did.

  • i just realised- the intro sounds a bit like no more mr nice guy... great song though!

  • this guy is freakin amazing

  • great adrian smith

  • This song kicks ass!

Its amazing, though i dont think adrian was the one singing cause his voice wasnt like that at all

    Urchin rock !

UP THE IRONS AND UP THE URCHIN

  • it is adrian singing

  • as nicko said on an infamous b-side - "urchin, get out of it!" good stuff

  • Does anyone know if you can get this in shops anywhere coz it ROCKS!

  • is adrian smith singing, is he playing the guitar?

  • there's a guy called David hall credited for vocals.but i think the vocals are adrian.and the spoken bit was david hall.

as for guitar' adrians playing along with dave murray or maurice coyne

  • It must be Maurice Coyne, since Dave Murray already had joined Iron Maiden when this was recorded.

  • his doing both ;)

  • has anyone the urchin 2004 album?

i love to hear it! urchin rules

  • ive got the album.and im slowly posting the tracks.the urchin stuff ive posted is taken from the album aswell as the 2 singles
