  • bots won't pick up weapons, but only if I place weapons on the floor

  • when i press F9 and the game start the survivors spawn and fall true the floor into the ''nothing'' and keep screaming

  • info_survivor_position entity causes that because you haven't set or defined a gametype. Insert info_player_start instead.

    When you are done with the map and ready to release you'll want to force info_survivor_position. I have a video on how to do that as well.

  • @WorldofLevelDesign its working now good. but only some of my objects (prop_statics) dont apear in the game

  • How do i do a safe AREA instead of a safe room? like where you start in the carnival level you dont have to open a door. would it be a func_trigger of some sort?

  • I'm having that bug where the survivors all spawn inside one another. Tried everything, doesn't work at all. Also, my map seems to have randomly deleted ALL of it's navigational meshes. I have absolutely no idea what happened. Everything was running smoothly before I rebooted the PC.

    Any idea on how to solve this spawning issue? The navigation is easy to setup again, but not if I can't even move around the map O.o

  • to fix the survivors spawning each other make 4 info_survivor_position. Name one of them Bill the other Zoey the third one Louis and the last one Francis. This should fix it. As for the Nav Meshes you need to go into console after you've created the nav meshes and type nav_analyze. After your map reloads type Nav_save in the console this will save everything that you've done with the navs. Hope this helps.

  • I had already done all that. But fixed it now. If I recall, the problem was one of the ground meshes contained errors, so that was messing up everything else. But thanks anyway ^^

    u use the L4D Authoring Tools, that u only find buying the L4D on Steam

  • no. you can make maps for hl2, css, tf2, ep1, ep2 in the normal source sdk

  • @rileyjames12 only if you want to make a map for l4d2. you can make maps for games like CS TF2 GMOD HL2 Portal 2 and Left 4 Dead 1

  • it depends if u want a rotating door(which i use) then click entity tool then click prop_rotating door or its rotating_door and u build it(in a door space) then pick wat door you want to break(wooden) :)

  • Download the Authoring tools if you have the game. It is under Tools Tab in Steam. Double click on Authroing tools then double click on Hammer. Give it aminute to load up and viola.

  • First I just want to say that I've found your video's extremely helpful in making my first map. But I am having an issue that's slowly driving me insane. I was setting up a gun rack. Once I had all the guns in it, I ran my map just to check, but once I get in, the guns can't be picked up. The model's are there, but I get no outline. I simply copied one and dragged out of the gun rack and it works. Any idea how I can get my guns to work while keeping inside the rack? Any help would be great :)

  • I've heard there are problems with pickup weapons when you place a prop inside another prop.

    Find a way to either create a gunrack with brushes or get rid of prop-static gunrack model you have.

  • Thanks for the speedy reply. Anyways, after some toying around with the options, and checking out how valve did it, I discovered what I did wrong. In order to have guns inside the gun rack, and still have players be able to grab them, you need to set the prop_static as a "Not Solid" in the collisions options. Then, just place a quick clip brush over the whole thing. Worked like a charm. Hope other people find this helpful.

    When you press F9 in the parameters box on the bottom of compile window type in sv_lan 1
