  • @ProPlayersPokerClub-where are you located?

  • WE MET THE WIZARD???

    12

  • Wait, so it's tje Wizard of Oz... but black?

  • family guy sended me here

  • Go head dina ross

  • I like this even I was not born in 1900s I was born 2001 but get down the road

  • A guy who played the trumpet for the music in this movie came to our school at an assembly.

Our school is poor. Very, very poor.

  • When my mom told me there was a version of "The Wizard of Oz" with Michael Jackson as the scarecrow, I thought she was joking.

  • I was working at Motown at Universal Studios while this was being made in New York, so was seeing dailies coming back every day via transcontinental pouch.

Terrific sets...but the movie bombed because I think Diana Ross was too old to be convincing as Dorothy. Too bad. Michael Jackson is terrific, though. Deserves a revival in 3D.

  • @quicktime55 Do you know the date of the New York premiere for the movie?

  • 0:19 she kinda looks like a fish.

  • Kinda creepy that everyone involved on this film but Dianna Ross are dead now...

  • @RyoNeko48 what so creepy about it? Death it happens lol better get used to it.

  • Seems a bit disturbing actually!

  • The Waz

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE I SEEN IT YESTERDAY FOR THE FIRST TIME. I LOVE MICHAEL AND HIS SONGS.

  • The Nizzard of Ozz

  • Sadly, I've never seen this. I've always wanted to. After seeing this trailer I now have no excuse. It looks awesome! =D

  • this is just kinda the "black" way of the wizard of oz.

  • @ladeschenes That's kind of the premise, yeah.

  • Wiz Khalifa

  • This movie was great, Michael was great but he is not the entire movie. It is a wonderful way beyond its years movie, with him in it or not. Its really sad how some people think their opinions matter. Cyber courage pretty stupid and pathetic...enjoy this film and stay focused on the art not what the people in it may or may not have done...

    #ignorantpeopleareawasteofair

  • Jeez this brings back so many memories. I was 6 years old when I saw this in the theater.

  • Which is better ease on down the road or were off 2 c the wizard that's some fuck up shit if you vote were off to c the gosh damn wizard we know where the fuck y'all going why sing it 10 trillion times the wiz is funky and gives you something to groove to

  • Well I think it's very wrong that y'all would dis a movie like this some people like this movie and don't care what y'all think I think y'all don't like it brace of the black people when ever it comes to black people not just white people but almost everyone wants to jump our case but when we jump on white people case they gotta get the whole freaking goverment on us damn! Respect this movie watch I bet none of watch it and want to judge it learn from it

  • @Galden172007 how you no where MJ is you can always repent from the things you do and no one nos if the story of him rapeing the child is even true so I thinks very rude of you to say that maybe of you don't like him so much don't watch his videos don't say anything about him if it's not nice you really should have respect of him because he held his head high after all the lies ppl told about him!

  • ...And if all those 'Oz' adaptations weren't enough, Andrew Lloyd Webber is preparing a new original musical with all new songs called "The Wizard of Oz". I keep up with this stuff because I am a HUGE 'Oz' fan and I can appreciate all of the diversity of these versions.

  • The critics don't know what they're talking about--this movie is something special, vibrant, and beautiful. In my opinion, the only reason why people attack it is because the film's a unique all-Black production and is beloved by African-Americans. I LOVE this movie!

  • @RETROGEMS It's not "unique" its a blatent copy of the Wizard of Oz. Nothing more.

  • @Volf99

it's an interpretation of The Wizard of Oz, and there are many interpretations of a particular plot/premise. A wonderful all-Black production of a show which originally was set within a Polish family and written by White author, Phillip Yordan, is "Anna Lucasta"; similar premise, and characterizations but interpreted through the prism of Black culture & experience which made for an intruiging original play and later film in 1958. Both "The Wiz" and "The Wizard of Oz" have merit.

  • ...Other interpretations of the Wizard of Oz have been made with white casts and I see none of the savage attacks upon them that I've seen with the critics towards "The Wiz". "Wicked" the novel by Gregory Maguire and the following musical has been in general, applauded and enjoyed by 'Oz' fans. "Tin Man" was another interpretation, far more loosely based on the L. Frank Baum storyline than "The Wiz", actually. "Return To Oz" was yet ANOTHER interpretation of this fantasy land and its characters.

  • ...Black people have the right to adapt, interpret and have fun with established pop culture like everyone else.

  • @RETROGEMS lol So what if I said a bunch of black people...why does that matter? If a black person says a bunch of white people is that rude? BTW I didn't watch the movie :) only about 8 seconds of it. Besides michael jackson is burning in hell beacuse he was an unrepentant sinner who molested little boys.

  • @Galden172007

I don't say things like a "bunch of white people" when I am referring to films that have white casts...oh wait a minute, most movies BY DEFAULT have all-white casts!

  • Yes this movie makes people want to get up and dance...want to move...it's "groovy" as someone stated. But take a look at the characters-I think the actors portray the spirit of the characters more real than in the original. They are both classics-each of a different era.

On another note- Why is it that every time Caucasian people want to compliment "black culture" they note the fun in it The "fun" stemmed from struggle...comment on that.

  • @JhomasE-Yes I Felt That Stephanie Mills Should Have Played The Role Since She Played Dorothy On Broadway!

  • Why all of this racism? Im black and i think this is ass but that white shit sucks to so u cant say the blacks ruined it so stfu!!!

  • @wheels2brown lol, the fuck are you talkin about?

  • @wheels2brown No racism- this movie just sucks in comparison to the original, period.

  • Michael Jackson RIP , but i'm sorry, this is the trashiest thing i've ever seen

  • I LOVE THIS MOOOVIIIEEE I bought it at the mall it was the last one on the shelf i was like WOOOP!!!!!!!!

  • Back when Michael still looked human.

  • what are people talking about??? i'm ashamed and shocked by the bad and racist comments here! i'm jewish and i love black culture and almost everything about it! the music is totally awsome and with no offence, much better then the soundtrack of the classical movie starring Judy Garlend, which is great also but less groovy and curtainly doesn't quite makes you wanna dance...this version is totally fun!!!

  • @kobipbip.....thank you!!! We have to realize that ignorance is and will always be alive as long as the devil and evil exist. Ignorance cannot be reasoned with, therefore it's not worth wasting any of your valuable time replying back.

  • @kobipbip From one Jew to another, this movie sucks in comparison to the Judy Garlend movie, and you being Jewish doesn't mean anything in terms of your opinion.

  • @Volf99 i guess you didn't get why i wrote i'm jewish-it has nothing to do with my taste in music, movies or anything else. i may well be a budhist/a christian/ a muslim, i didn't mean it like that, i was only trying to answer those who wrote all the racist comments, and for that metter only-i pointed out that i happen to be a white jewish man who loves "black" culture and loves this film's soundtrack.

  • @bowtomyskill dude u don't have 2 be all racist like that a lot of my white friends watch this movie

  • lol....a bunch of black people steal a movie and make it retarded... rock on.

  • Comment removed

  • I got this movie on lazer disc...and its framed on my wall...The best movie in the 70's

  • They ruined The WIzard of Oz with this motown crap and now they're doing the same with Annie!

  • @dramakid95 How the heck is wizard of oz ruined? it is not ruined, Its still in one piece and its still showing on tv. Besides ppl are selling Wizard of oz merchandise.

  • I saw this move when I was nine when it came out. It was packed. We were the only white people there. We didn't care. We wanted to see it.

  • In my opinion this version was way better that the other. The Wiz actually made me want to get up and dance ^-^ the Wizard of Oz was good also though.

  • WHICH WAS THE MICHAEL AGE ON THIS MOVIE?

MICHAEL NEED DO MORE JOBS LIKE THIS KIND. IS WONDERFULL.

IS MORE ENTERTAINING THIS KIND JOBS,CAUSE HE DANCE LIKE A DANCER. DON'T LIKE MICHAEL JACSON, THE SUPER STAR ,THE KING OF POP.

THE KING IS THE KING, NOTHING TO SAY. IS FINE.

BUT LOOK MICHAEL OUT OFF OF MICHAEL JACKSON? IS WOOOW!!!

  • @MrWilliewill313 lol did you see it on BET too?

  • @MrWilliewill313 i don't have tv one where else is it on?

  • Diana Ross is a little too outrageous in this film at some points... but at others she is very tender and spot on. The rest of the cast is fantastic and the sets/scenery are jaw-dropping. Some great music too. This will always be a favorite.

  • @thetrashman11 Your user name correctly identifies the type of person you are, your social status and occupation. The number 11 at the end represents what grade you dropped out of high school.

  • @thetrashman11 wow really doe

  • somebody should upload the whole movie

  • @ChristinePascual97 its a wonderful movie.its easy to find. it runs on cable sometimes TVONE channel

  • @rellenoz TVOne's currently playing the Blu-Ray version on their hi-def channel.

If you have HD digital cable, the film will be a whole new experience from any other format in which you've ever seen it previously.

The film's soundtrack's FINALLY as good as the CD version, too.

  • SUCH an underrated movie!!! So brilliant!

  • this is a classic much better than the wizard of oz

  • Diana Ross was way too old for this part and wtf is with her hair? They could have made her look slightly attractive..

I love Michael!!! He's just beautiful

  • @eccentricdiamond49 Well, this was made in the 70s, so the afro look she was wearing was in...and in this one Dorothy is a school teacher. They were gonna have Stephanie Mills, the original Dorothy from the first Broadway production of the wiz, play Dorothy but Diana got the role instead. And yes, MJ rocks! I love this movie though

  • @smercuryfangrl9 Yes I know all this :)

I'm going to buy a copy of this film today I think :p

  • @eccentricdiamond49 Oh, okay. I liked Diana in this movie, the only things I didn't like were that she whined too much and acted too timid. And the subway scene still scares me no matter how many times I watch this. But I love the emerald city scene!

  • I've always loved this movie as a child and still love it today. I wonder if it would have been better had the producers stuck to their guns and used the original Dorothy (Stephanie Mills) instead of Diana Ross. She seriously lobbied for this role. She just seemed to old for the role. She said "Dorothy" was "ageless". I don't know about that.

  • No WONDER IT FLOPPED, the trailer sucked. it did't even try to surprise the audience. To me, it ran as if the music was the catch.

Id rather see humor in contrast to the Wizzard of Oz,

  • This movie was a major flop when it was first released.

  • @kittygrrlhk Yeah, but it has sustained the test of time. That makes it quite the success. This is my favorite movie of all time.

  • what he forgot ... was a heart .... that´s sad

  • where can i see the full movie? plzz

  • i love the wiz

  • It's a very good movie!! :) Michael is a good actor!!!! and he's so adorable :)

  • man play the whole movie for the membering of michael please

  • actually he was 20.

    i love michaelllllllllllll<3333333333

    rip♥♥

  • my drama class is doing this as our class play im a munchkin!

  • @chongolicous Good Luck!

  • Michael<3333

He was only 19 in this movie..

  • Michael Jackson is the best...

  • This movie is great! Its so funny!! I love all of the music!! Michael and diana did so great!! This is definitly one of my fav michael jackson events!

  • Amazing how movie trailers from the 70s were so choppy! I wish celebrity status wouldn't have gone to Michael Jacksons head, because he was an amazing song writer and choreographer. he will be missed, but never forgotten!!!

  • @chykymunky Celebrity status never did go to his head...if anything he was the most humble and quiet of the Jackson family and Janet and Tito....

  • @chykymunky u think it went to his head?? if u watch interviews...he was the most humble person and he was gental and sweet. he was nicer then ALOT of people i know and they aren't incredibly famos, id say that it hardly went to his head.

  • After all, I saw this film trailer! THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS, Tryani!!! :)))))
