This song walked into my life as my first true love walked out. Felt like my life was really over and wanted to end all. Bought the single, kept on playing it and it helped me through. Only recently recalled it after my Fathers death. Now it gives me strength and I can look back and appreciate all the good things for what they were.
makes me want to cry and im a man im great now but my mum died in 2002 had alziemers n she got sexually abused in a nursing home . this song kept me going
@madbout we all mess up and have been messed around by those we care about. The most special thing about caring for someone is that they can mess up as much as they need to and we will still care deeply for them. it doesn't matter what you did, all that matters is that you can now appreciate the love you received when you needed it most and perhaps pass it on to someone you care for who is struggling.
@Alycrom thank you for your kind words. I just see every day, how much I wasn't there for them. sometimes you need the support of your loved ones and I wasn't there. I can't get back those times.
I thank you for taking the time to repond to my message.
I can remember being about 18 or 19 and coming home in a taxi at 8 o'clock in the morning , half asleep and still a bit tipsy from partying all night at a friends house but this song just made me sit up and listen. I even asked the taxi driver who sang it , when I got in I typed it straight on here and listened to it all over again. Now I edging towards 23 and I've forgotten most aspects of that night but I've never forgotten the taxi ride home , Such a beautiful yet sad and moving song
I still remember sitting in a taxi at eight o'clock in the morning coming home from a party at a friends house and this song playing, it was the first time I'd ever heard it . I was so in awe of it how touching the lyrics are and sadden by the subject matter that I've never forgotten it ever since . It is a very beautiful but very sad song
just yesterday afternoon I heard this unique Hot-Chocolate-ballad in German music-cult show "Disco '79" with moderator Ilja Richter on the German public service digital television channel "ZDF culture" - Hot Chocolate mademany great songs, but at this I can say is close your eyes and drift into other spheres have that are so far from our everyday monotony ... heavenly dream! Greetings from Germany!

@philipisphilip : Would anyone know offhand if Lauren Bacall recorded this song or if she sang it on a stage version of a show? I reckon she did. Thank you. Desmond, Dublin.
I nearly lost my best friend and it was this song and my comment that prevented his demise. I played it and told him one morning a few years ago and said, if you ever have a problem remember this. He did. For thee months he felt suicidal as he thought that no matter what he did he couldn't make anyone happy and planned to drive under a large truck. Yes that song though sad also helped to save a dear friend
Iam really relating to this song at the moment because my dad was diagnosed with cancer at the beginning of the year and it has completely teared our lifes apart. Thank god he's in remission now but after months of being strong, its the first time in the last couple of weeks that I feel quite weak and tired after months of trying to be so strong so this song makes me feel better as I know things are only going to get better now the worst is over .
I don't think I could sing this song out loud, lip goes wobbly just humming it. Reminds me of my Nan, she loved it, came out about the time Grandad passed away, deep breath...
This song was the first tune i heard, After major Heart Surgery at Glenfield Hospital Leicester, To say i was poorly would be an understatement, To thank the staff for what they did, Well i cant find the words , But this Hot Chocolate song Does it wonderfuly well. That was in 2001, And now again in 2010 they have mended me again,So anyone in my position take strengh from me and this Fantastic Track.
A beautiful song sung by a beautiful singer such a gorgeous voice, and with such tenderness one of my all time favourite songs, and to Sweetangel12k9, such a tragic loss of your son, my condolencses, but at least his suffering is over, enjoy the memories you have of him, bless you

@sweetangel2k9 My heart bleeds for you, my wife and I had a miscarriage, and that hurt enough, so I have a msall understanding, but my prayers and thoughts are with you :)
@sweetangel2k9 I really don't know what to say...cancer and childeren are two c- words that don't belong together. I cry my eyes out when I read your post. Love from me to you and your son.
i agree with your comments about it being a tough world,,life aint easy, giving it up is surprisingly difficult too,,anyway, beautiful, beautiful tune, shame about the trousers, but errol can sing man, ;0)
The inner world can be so unforgiving. Yet, it wouldn't surprise me if songs like this have saved many people from quitting this world forever. It's the kind of words and feeling that someone who feels despair would appreciate during their time of pain. Beautiful song that touches hearts.

for all those dumb dumbs out there.the song is about if u are feeling suicidal ring, write or talk to some one about yr problems, dont keep ithidden and they will help u out with yr ordeal
The words of this song were written by Don Black. It was originally going to be in a musical and was written to be sung in the show by 'an agony aunt'. I don't know why but the musical didn't come to anything. If you listen to the words it all makes sense.
This song walked into my life as my first true love walked out. Felt like my life was really over and wanted to end all. Bought the single, kept on playing it and it helped me through. Only recently recalled it after my Fathers death. Now it gives me strength and I can look back and appreciate all the good things for what they were.

The words of this song were written by Don Black. It was originally going to be in a musical and was written to be sung in the show by 'an agony aunt'. I don't know why but the musical didn't come to anything. If you listen to the words it all makes sense.

The musical was called "Dear Anyone"
It wasn't a success, though it did make it to the stage. Jane Lapotaire sang the song on stage, in the UK at least.
