All is quiet now until that faithful day along time ago. You can here the battle today as both armies gather to do harm each other in unimaginable ways. Both armies blink and say do we really need to do these bad deeds.
No, the Federal works follow the treeline west-southwest from the Landis House ruins, which is itself situated at the northeast corner of the battlefield. Hugging the treeline as you walk away from the Landis House, you'll notice that you're walking along the main axis of a Federal trench. Scramble ten yards through the brush behind the trench and you'll happen upon those lunettes.
Err no. I didn't venture off the track much as I didn't realise there was more. Just looked at the site on Google Earth and noticed a lot of ground south of Gordon Road. Do you mean there? Shame to miss it having travelled all the way from England though.
fantastic video. did you ever get a chance to explore the federal works in the treeline north of the angle? the ramparts and lunettes are magnificently preserved. i don't think many people venture up there because it's off the trail a bit, but they will really give you a great feel of civil war earthworks. thanks again for the video.
That first monument was the 15th New Jersey. The breastworks on the east side of the Mule Shoe, are still very deep.
Thank you for the excellent video, I enjoy the battlefield, because of little to no traffic and very peaceful.
