Thank you Jill and all at Animals Asia! Thank you Simon! for speaking up for the animals. Yes there is plenty to improve on in Australia too, but this deliberately causing extreme suffering and torture to any animal is inexcusable. No matter how hungry someone is, there is absolutely no reason, not to keep and kill it as humanely and quickly as possible. Education, making it public, and so much more, thanks to Jill and AA. (also help get our Aussie pigs out of cages, & calves out of crates etc:(
I just did a little research to see what this chef is referring to when he says the 'belief that torture equals taste'. Apparantly dogs are often beaten before and during death because they want to increase the dog's adrenaline and heart rate to make them bleed out quickly once they finally die. They also think this makes the meat taste better, and that the beating tenderizes the meat.
This group has done a lot to change the people's perception of dogs in China. Thank you! You have my support!
it's not just the chinese that torture and kill animals go look at your own slaughter houses. many video out there of people doing really bad things to the animal so you can have your steak and chips. some people don't have the luxury of going to a local super market and picking things off the shelves, in the undeveloped countries food are hard to come by and sometimes meat is just meat to the poorer people, its not like they have a choice.
I'm afraid certain people use animals 2 feel relieved from their own demons. 2 b able 2 use others with impunity in a try to get rid from our own demons only shows VIOLENCE & MENTAL DISORDERS WHICH SHOULD B ERRADICATED &/OR PROSECUTED.
I am Asian (Korean) and I am all for ending this. This happens in my own country and the excuse of torturing to make the "meat" taste better for the sake of "tradition" and "culture" is nonsense. No one really believes it and it doesn't offend me when people speak up against it. Asians are just as much against this as non-asians are and I hope more and more non-asians have it in them to stand up and speak against this.
@b2bie If Asians are against these brutal and cruel traditions why don't you all make a stand against it as it involves your own country and countrymen.
@1949dumplin Well, it's not that simple right? Just like there are progressive people in the US and conservative people. Some care and some simply don't. In Spain, they've still got those bull fights where everyone watches as a guy stabs it to death. Do you really expect everyone in that country to drop everything that they're doing to rally around that cause? Some people simply don't care and that's the reality of things.
@1949dumplin In general we can all do our own parts to stop things like this. In China, dogs are dumped in boiling water alive and skinned alive. After they're thrown on a pile to die extremely slow and painful deaths. This fur is then shaved and dyed to look like fake fur because it's much cheaper to use that then to manufacture fake fur. This "fake fur's" made it way to products like Baby Phat hoods. Here in Canada, we don't have a rule banning it.
@1949dumplin So for me, when I grow older I'd like to help pass a bill in Canada that will not allow dog/cat fur to make it's way to Canada. Without a demand there won't be a reason to continue. It's a whole process that involves everyone. It's just a pity that not everyone cares enough but that's life isn't it? Some people are shit.
Great initiative to show this as a public announcement on TV. So true, dogs and cats are our friends, but pigs, cows, goats, sheep and chickens are also our friends!
Speciesism sucks. All Earthlings have a right to enjoy their natural life span without being made slaves by us humans!
@travellingcats studies in psychology and human development indicates a clear arc. Humans become more expansive in their love of other beings as time goes by. So, suddenly blacks became people, suddenly gays counted, suddenly women became people. It is reasonable to expect that this love would extend more to animals that we are familiar with. For now, I think it's a great idea to make sure that this specific issue is stoped while so many people are already on board and agree to it's end.

Saw this commercial today, and am so grateful this issue has FINALLY gone public!
Even though I cannot support the campaign with funds, I'll be sharing this crucial information right across the net....what can YOU do??
