What an awesome track I had it on a 45 single, I haven't heard this song since I was about 14 yrs old. Of all the radion stations would you believe it was only radio 2 CH Sydney that played it. That period of the 60's was indeed very special and experimental... Thanks heaps to the uploader :-)
@donships I have that album too...i just dug it out of my dusty record collection, i can't find every track on here though...no Roy Harper, Nobody's got any money in the summer... :o( but there's some corkers on it, I'd forgotten all about it!
@vonsterflick I thought about my favourite LPs either lost or lent out. I clicked on wikipedia to see the tracks and then played them on Youtube. Time Dino Valente was an example. Not all are corkers though. Wouldn't want to pay to hear them again but it's great dusting them off as you say
Great track. I saw these live, Gawd knows what year - about '69. They had braziers on stage blowing incense over the crowd - the Heath & Safety bunch would have a fit these days!
You're right about it should have been a hit...I heard it on Brian Matthews Sounds Of The 60's...the rare section where people request something they can't get hold of. Supposedly when Led Zep first formed they would jam on this...
A classic British Psychedelia/proto rock number, Known as the Velvet opera, they ust have seen the Burt Lancaster movie, for the next time I saw them, they were 'Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera' what a cool name.
@ donships I got this on open spool tape but nothing to play it on anymore!

The cover of the Album is misleading. I thought it is a folk band
