Yeah I had the same issues the drawers are Chinese made shit and I'm not racist but why do they have to have some parts made in USA and others who knows or quality. The paint was all swirled up like I said. Theyve got my old snapon which I shoulda kept and theirs and I still owe them 9gs. F that. They even sold it to a guy for 12. F matco
I'm sure you'd look better than me in the suit but if they do send me some pom poms and a suit ill be sure to save it for you so after your done putting your microscope on the boxes you can start cheering for them.
I hope they give me a real box. I don't need pom poms.Under your microscope why are they better? Ive put a microscope on both boxes and I know which ones better all around. But thanks
Snap on will give you poms poms and a cheerleader suit for your next vid you might even get a part in their cheese cd's they give out. FYI in your next vid put a Snap On box under your microscope and you will see the "differance". Matco Rocks!!
I don't care if its dipped plunged sprayed static charged I just wanted it painted all the way through ive looked at 3 different colored snapon boxes and they were painted inside and out. I can't say for sure which one is stronger but watch the video the proofs in the pudding. There boxes are made in the USA anymore like snapons and these days I look for that and I was told it was that too. All in all a bunch of vs and nothing is made like it used to be
@mofea2 yeah my snapon dealer said it was a nice box to but he also gave me a cd to watch its called snapon knockout its on YouTube. It shows the actual useable space the so boxes have compared to others the matco box doesn't have near the useable space as snapons does especially with that bar in the middle and the dividers in the top drawers. Theyre nice boxes but I still believe snapon makes better boxes. The matco rep should of never said it was completly painted inside out if it wasnt.
I love my Matco box. It's really nice when both my snap on rep and my cornwell rep tell me that it's a nice box. No other box has the depth of the 6s box. Your not gonna find a box manufacturer that paints every part inside the box, unless they dip it.
@mofea2 go check out a snap on box, inside and out and you will see it is painted completely. seams, welds, corners, drawers, frame everything is COMPLETELY painted!! and snap on will and does stand behind their tool boxes. they would have done something for this customer unlike matco. i see it all the time. very good and informational video firebird!!
its made in the USA for real not with cheap ass components and every box i looked at 3 different colors were painted completley inside and out. Matco doesnt show proof like snapon does on how it beats the others. The way it all went down was shitty ive took it all the way to the bbb which took awhile and Matco declined to do anythong about it or resolve it in anyway with me . We went back and forth telling oursides and they wouldnt give so know ive got to get a lawyer which ive already talked 2
@firebird14420 i jus got my matco box (5s) and i got the stainles top on it and it has a knife mark from one corner to the other along the back from where they cut the protective tape that came on it. it also has a paint defect on the one drawer all bumpy almost like a run but more like dust or something under the paint. it also has squeaky drawers (im hopeing they wear in and stop) ive only had the box for a day. it bull shit.
the tools i owed them but not the box they said no buyers remorse i have to pay. So not only did my dist make profit on both boxes so did Matco me and a couple of my friends have boycotted them no matter how good they say their tools are. yeah i made a mistake by not looking at it with i fine tooth come to make sure it was to my satisfaction but it was late it looked good i trusted the name. i do believe snapons boxes are not as good as they used to be but i still believe its a better box
so when i said i wouldnt pay they said ok theyll repo well my distr said he knew someone that might want it and he would get them to take over payments for the box and id be free and clear of all payments. Well that didnt happen at allinstead now hes got my old box that i traded in hes got that guys box that he traded in and sold him the box for 9 after trade in and Matco says i owe them 9 for the box even though this guy has the box and is making payments on it. i told them ill pay for (cont)
@cfaulc yeah i agree but i knew they werent that thick i told him that i let the box come into the bay bc at first i didnt see that the whole box was scratched up or not painted inide like he told me it would be. I after that day as i was looking at my new box i seen all the swirl marks so i decided to look inside to thats when one of the drawers broke lol i told him right then to take it back astrusting him when he told me he would get it taken care of oh they Matco wouldnt do anything (cont)
gussets and interior braces. And as for the inside not being totally painted, hardly any will be. Unless the box cage is totally dipped in paint or powder coat then all of the interior corners and inside of the braces are going to rust when exposed to humidity. I hate to see this happen to anybody but for christ sakes go into a purchase of this size and price with your eyes OPEN. Do your homework, dont' take no for an answer.
Certain components of tool boxes are lifetime warrantied but not everything. And think of the weight the box would weigh if there were 1/4 thick steel braces, you wouldn't be able to roll it. Bottom line, nobody makes boxes as good as they used to, EVEN SNAP-ON! They and Mac, when Mac Tools used to make REAL toolboxes used things such as Accuride brand roller slides (dont' anymore), better american made spring loaded casters, thicker gauge steel walls, (cont'd)
I'm not trying to sound like a smartass, but, that was very naive of you to let a tool rep tell you that a tool box has "1/4 thick braces" or that a box is "lifetime warrantied". Secondly, why did you even take delivery of it if it was scratched up that bad? There is no way in hell I would have paid that much money, and then let a truck rep roll a turd like that into my bay. It sounds like you kinda are to blame here to for letting this happen to you. (Cont'd to next post)
@Jonbiggunmatco the one they sold me is rusting out already did you watch the video and replacement value yeah they will give you what they think its worth no where near value of the box new
They actually repoed the box and sold it to a guy at honda and lied to him where they got it and the matco guy lied to me and said it wasnt my box I heard from snapon dealer it was mine so I went down there and seen for my self it was mine and matco is still trying to charge me for the box after they sold it for $12000 to someonelse
My brother is a Matco Tool Distributor(Mike Hobbs in Fort Worth, TX.) I called him to tell him about a defect I discovered in the wheel brakes on my Matco toolbox.
When the brakes are set firmly into the ON position...a simple grab of the toolbox handle and a quick Left/Right movement and the brakes release.
I worked for a caster manufacturer (Fairbanks) and can tell you that the brakes should NOT release at all. The wheels should lock and slide.

The quality control of Matco, Snap On have seriously gone down hill. I hate to spend that much money and not recieve a quality product. You would be better off with a Craftsman! LMAO!!!! Hope you got a Snap On box instead. I would demand a refund on the Matco and get a Snap On!
I have never in my life seen a Matco box rusted out. However I assure you if your box rusts even twenty years from now you will not get trade in value, you will get replacement value. This means that b/c your box is a top of the line now, it will be replaced with the same size top of the line twenty years from now.
First of all I am sorry for your issues with your new Matco box. I am a Matco dist and I also believe our boxs are the best out there. That is the main reason I became a dist. No one is perfect though and problems do occur as these boxs are buit by humans and not machines. I have been to the Jamestown plant and they work very hard to put out an awesome product. Our boxs are powder coated, so even though 99% of the box is coated it cant be completely unless the box is dipped.
I love my snap on KRLbox but the slides are wearing out already. The slides on a couple drawers are loose and don't fit as tight. My old KR1000 was built better and the slides were bolted in instead of snapped in. Initially I wanted to get slides for my KR1000 but guess what? They didn't make them anymore. So, I traded it in for the KRL1022. Got 1600 bucks trade in. But I must say the earlier boxes were built better.
@snowprochamp don't say something and not back it up. Oh you must be busy cheering for snappy with you new pom pom suit. Keep up the hard work haha
