The only reason the gracies concentrated on the ground game was because it is easy to learn. It takes time to learn the Judo throws. Judo is a true art. So any of you glorifying the brazilian stuff, well what can I say, you are limiting yourself.... And if you what to go againts a beginer Judoka, come to mitts and matts in Tucson AZ to test your diluted Judo (BJJ) againts my Judo; Gi or no Gi...

I have his book. Its no big secret. This guy is extremely dedicated and practices a whole lot to be this good. Years in fact.
I'd love to see him take on some top BJJ guys. He's also a student of Sambo and freestyle wrestling. It would be very interesting and exciting to see a newaza master pit his skills against a BJJ master.
I'm thinking him and Marcelo Garcia since they're abt the same weight.
Thirty seconds of google-fu would have revealed that Marcelo Garcia is a very, very recognisable name indeed, and is considered to be pound for pound one of the best submission grapplers in the world.
It doesn't have to be a contest. Maybe they could just randori or roll around for a few rounds. It would be really cool to see that. The exchange of techniques form 2 similar styles. All of us could learn a lot from it.
Why do we have to see it as some form of competition between Judo and Bjj? I'm a student of both and Judo improves my Bjj and vice versa. It's ying and yang.
I know Judo teaches it students to never be arrogant , always be humble and to always keep learning.
I agree with you on the fact that I would like to see Kashiwazaki take on some BJJ guy. One who thinks that BJJ is the BOMB or something like that. Thing is that, I think, Kashiwazaki has nothing to prove to these guys. That's what I think.
That technique is yoko gake or side drop. Kashiwazaki performs it moving to the side, advancing half step forward, conductiong uke. The final result is just beautiful poetry ni motion. This special technique is demonstrated on his dvd (Newaza of Kashiwazaki), which i recommend to everyone.
I have no words to tell how incredible this demonstration is. An uninitiated could see this video and do not recognize the masterful technique of Kashiwazaki, since he makes it all seem so easy!!!

no contest...Kashiwazaki sensei was Olympic gold medallist, who is that other ?? Not a recognizable name?
Kashiwazaki sensei is a teacher; no longer a competitor but he is still brilliant thinking judo teacher...

Sorry but Kashiwazaki was silver and gold medal in World Championships but never Olympic medallist. Your opinion still to be right.

True; still World Gold medallist judoka are brilliant at Judo; its difficult to achieve with over 10 million people training. Compare that to BJJ

They will never do it. There's an unwritten rule among all martial arts masters. They don't fight each other in public.
They understand that a single fight isn't proof that one style is better than another. But the public is too ignorant to know better.

is he putting his foot on his opponent's kneecap or thigh to throw him over? those are some very sick throws, technique is impeccable
