The whole reason the Pilgrims came to America was to escape the oppression of the British government. They came here so they could worship God according to their own convictions, as God outlines in His word. Our founding fathers knew government would try to control everything here as it did there; thus they wrote restrictions on government into our founding documents.

If you listen to "theRightizright's" words, there can be little doubt in your mind that this is a man who would readily condemn anyone who refuses to believe as he does to torture and death without a second thought, because he is uncompromising in his conviction and he, and he alone, has access to the Truth.
It was men such as this who instituted the Inquisition, and who calmly massacred 8000 unarmed Muslim men and boys at Srebrenica in 1995. Men who appoint themselves to judge others.

In fact, writings of our founding fathers clearly state that Christians, having knowledge of spiritual truth, are to be PREFERRED for leadership positions in our government. Christianity NEVER dictated that a man be celibate. Paul said that sometimes it's better not to marry, but rather for a man to devote his life to the spreading of the gospel. SOMETIMES. Not normally. Disagreements over God's word come from problems with individuals' interpretation of it. God's word is meant to be taken literally, just like all other literature. That, of course, allows for figurative language, which God makes perfectly clear when it is used. Another issue is that believers and unbelievers alike often take His word out of context. This results in error.
